The Avengers Jeremy Renner is Hawkeye! - Part 1

Got some 'bad' news, unsure if this was posted but in an interview with Jeremy Renner he said something along the lines of "I feel like I'm hardly in it, but there are a lot of characters to pay service to so there's naturally only a limited number of scenes you can have." What this means, I don't exactly know. But just thought I'd post it. It was in a magazine, there's a couple mags now at Barnes & Noble with sections on the film.

I've heard him say that already. I wouldn't worry about that since considering it's an ensemble movie, he certainly would feel that way because he's not really having to carry the movie on his own.

Although some characters may not be in it as the rest, it is very possible for them to be scene stealers. Hell, look at Liam Neeson (extreme example) in 'The Next Three Days.' He only had one scene, but he definitely stole the show from Crowe in those scenes. So it's not really how much one is seen but how strong and captivating that character is.... if that makes sense?

Makes perfect sense, but I definately hate hearing that Hawkeye doesn't have much screentime but I guess he had to take one for the team.

well doesn't he spend the first 3rd of the movie on the run after breaking Loki out... so in a way it does make sense

Yeah it makes sense, but he's still getting less screentime whether there's a good reason or not makes no difference.

I don't read the comics, so I had no idea who Hawkeye was until I watched Thor

Despite his very limited screen time, he managed to convince me he was a cool character, without really doing anything.

So In Avengers I expect him to get the least screen time of the 6, but when he is on screen he does a few cool enemy kills and moves type thing

No harm if he is not a big role, because he was not even a main avenger anyways right?

Hawkeye was a *major* Avenger. He was always one of the literal poster-boys for the group. He mainly served as the resident comic relief/wise-ass, but without Clint, it ain't the Avengers

Yep. From the beginning I always thought Hawkeye would be the least focused character of the film. Probably like Banshee of X-First Class. He's there when he need be to make a funny but will still probably kick some ass.

Even still, Hawkeye is probably my favorite character of all the ones in this film. I went back to see Thor twice just for his cameo xD and I've been a fan of Renner for the longest time. so no matter how much of Hawkeye appears on screen, I'll still enjoy what I get from it.

Well, to make up for this they better do a Hawkeye/SHIELD movie and I expect to see a slight romance between Widow and Hawkeye, so that Mockingbird can come in and steal everything

And in that clip they released where she's being interrogated by the Russian guys (maybe we'll here her speak Russian?? That'd make my day xD) Coulson says "Barton's been compromised" and it zooms in on her as if to show there's concern in her now.

That's cool! I'm sure they'll sort of be there for each other in some way or another. We'll see! I know in a movie full of so many characters, other guys more popular than him even, we'll probably only get so much story on these two. but thats okay all the same, because Hawkeye will still be my favorite. I just hope this film does let him establish himself as a cool character and earn some points so that he may get some more well deserved focus in the future projects

It looks like he does some pretty cool stuff in the movie though. I've only really being paying so much attention to the interviews and pics and stuff. I like waiting for the movie and being surprised but have to admit when there is so much info and clips up, i remember the movie won't be out for 21 more days and curiosity sometimes gets the better of me haha.

What I don't get though, is where is all this hatred for Hawkeye coming from?? I was over on Comingsoon and people were bashing him all to hell. saying he doesn't deserve to be in this movie and saying if he dies, it would make the movie for them... just really putting the character down. he's always been my favorite and i thought he had a pretty decent fanbase, and Renner is a great actor.. so I guess I'm just confused.

Would be a shame if the rumours are true about Hawkeye not having much screen time, especially since Renner is the best actor attached to the film.
