I had to stop myself from reading that, it gave away too many spoilers.
pretty sweet interview cbm posted about renner and whedon talking in depth about hawkeye:
Was it ever explained why they decided not to go for a cowl for Hawkeye?
it's a pity that whedon is as visually unimaginative as I thought. hawkeyes 616 costume AND his mask would work on the sreen with a little effort and a costume designer who knows what he is doing.Pretty sweet interview CBM posted about Renner and Whedon talking in depth about Hawkeye:
and yet people are perfectly fine with the way captain america dresses. guess what? it's a super hero movie. audiences expect to see people wearing colourful outfits (unless it is batman). don't tell me they're not taking him seriously because his outfit features the colour purple and he covers his face.I don't see it. I mean, yes, you could *make* his costume in real life. . . but I don't see it working visually or dramatically.
Or: viewers aren't going to take Hawkeye seriously if he's dressed up like a circus performer.
logically a high level SHIELD agent wouldn't even wear the Ultimate costume. But you have to think logically about these things. Is there a logical reason that a high level SHIELD agent would wear a more stylized costume?
Fury, Widow, and Hawkeye are all directly adapted from the UltimatesWas it ever explained why they decided not to go for a cowl for Hawkeye?
Actually yeah... he wouldlogically a high level SHIELD agent wouldn't even wear the Ultimate costume.

neither was it established that those jumpsuits are standard attire since no one is wearing them so far (I know that changes in TA but in IM, IM2 and Thor all we see are suits or soldiers, none of them wearing the jumpsuits...except BW and even that is a variation) nor IS Hawkeye wearing those standard jumpsuits. instead he is wearing the ultimate costume with something that resembles a purple arrow pointing to his crotch. it already IS different and every reason you can have for THOSE differences can also be used for the 616 costume.Actually yeah... he would
It's been established in all the movies that SHIELD has appeared in that black/grey/dark blue leather jumpsuits are standard attire. For Hawkeye to be any different wouldn't make any sense. Maybe in a sequel, he'll venture off from SHIELD and find his own path and his own costume... but not in this movie.

It's not pale red, it's burgundy. Which is a mix of purple and redIt's a paler red as an homage, sure. But it's still the Ultimate costume
