OK, um i dont get it. Doesn't Stan Lee, you know the guy who created spider-man and created marvel comics, have a say in this?? I mean Stan cant POSSIBLY want Spidey's marriage to end can he?? Or maybe Stan's so old that he just doesnt care anymore? Joe Q's comments absolutely sickened me to death. I swear to god i hope he's just lying to us...

It was in an interview on the Reelz channel that he first found out that they unmasked him. I don't think he's in the loop of what goes on these days. He should really pick up an ish or two.

If anyone can stop Joe Quesada, it's the publisher, Dan Buckley. Unfortunately (for you) Quesada's tenure at Marvel has been a hugely successful one financially speaking, and there's really no reason why a good publisher would remove him.

I doubt Stan Lee really has any large sway with anyone outside of comic book fans - who - coincidentally - do not just have no sway, but may very well have minus-sway.

Stan Lee has no creative control over Marvel anymore, his position is more or less just as a figurehead to be the public image of the company. Even that is changing now that Joey Q has become more public, appearing on Colbert twice and whatnot. In reality all he has to do with the modern Marvel is his cameos in the films.

I honestly think STan doesn't care much anymore. He seems to be happier with the films (at least the Spider-Man ones0 than the comics. In an interview where he was yammering on about being in SM3 and how he wants Lizard in SM4 the yasked him what he thought about Aunt May getting shot and Peter wearing the black duds again and Stan seemed genuinely surprised and kind of wrote it off as "Well...that's too bad....don't really read that trash anymore."

Oh well.

I also think the worst aspect is,

Wow they are going to try and go Clone Saga on the last 25 years of Spidey. Sure that has been the weakest time but the strongest point of it has been the Spider-marriage. In fact the worst aspects is when they tried to move away from it (eg. The Clone Saga, Final Chapter/Reboot leading to MJ's "death," the seperation, etc.).

He just wants it to be stuck in the '60s or '70s with Pete being a 20-something worrying about his doting aunt while he scroungs for a date. That was fun for the first 2 1/2 decades but it was running thin and a marriage was introduced. A marriage when written properly by JM DeMattis, arguably Michilinie, Millar, even JMS early on, etc was quite a strong aspect.

But no lets erase it and just leave Spidey stuck in **** land forever.

Time to pretend that Spider-Girl is the right continuity simply because after September the Spider-Man comics will suck so much I may pick up one or two just to see the direction it went...but otherwise I'm done.

And my guess is a small percentage of fans (let's say 8%-10%) will think likewise and he will just alienate old fans, like myself and fail to get new fans.

Kids don't read anymore. They odn't. They prefer getting entertainment from video games, cartoon shows, movies and the internet. In that order. Some now read manga due to the weird fixation on that subculuture but comic books have been dying out since the beginning of the '90s.

It's not MJ's fault. In 20 years time you'll want to appeal to the older readers. Because children rather play the spider-Man games and watch the Spider-Man movies than read the much richer and fullfilling comic book history. It's the way time progresses and trying to recapture the '60s will just end with turning the once flagship character of Marvel Comic Books into an empty shell of a character.

From the interview...it sounds for sure, unless he is LYING/DRUNK, that a mindwipe kinda thing will go into effect. (as many surmised....)

And JQ stated that Pete could possibly end up dating MJ. (or others)

Pete dating when (every fan KNOWS) he is married, even tho he doesn't "remember it" (or MJ) creates MORE of a mess.

Pete a widower?...no!....a divorcee?...no!...an ADULTERER?...sure!! ~Simply brilliant. Give JQ a raise!!!

Let's retool Spidey comics to be more like a 4 panel strip of Charlie Brown ( 'strips' are gag central-not story central like a Comic Book is)....and make it so Pete and MJ are like Charlie Brown and the red haired girl...(he compares apples to oranges)...characters that don't age in any way...always just "there" for the gag of the strip.

Well, THIS idea in Spider-man makes me GAG.

And then JQ has the gall to say, it will work because they (Marvel) will never MENTION the changes. >wink<

How can every fan NOT be MAD about JQ's statements???

This whole thing WILL get retconned when JQ realizes (and fans leave!) Spidey isn't a gag strip like SNOOPY...And Pete isn't Charlie Brown.

THEN....Marvel will have to retcon THIS...and put MJ and Pete back together & deal with them (their emotions if any)dating during the "I CAN"T REMEMBER I'M MARRIED YEARS". OR pretend THIS didn't happen.

Someone at Marvel stop the madness now! Funny thing is...When Spidey plummets in sales even more, Marvel exec's will be acting clueless as to why.

This was posted on Marvel.com boards, which a quick glance there you can easily see the average poster there have the IQ of a doorknob. Everything he says on those forums is a way to hype books and keep the lemmings guessing. As much as he hate the marriage he knows a step like that will be a creative suicide, one that history tells will not be easily forgotten, a quick glance on people who tried to break up the Spider-Marriage show where they are today, and I'm sure JoeQ doesn't want to follow those footsteps.

Of course if he will go that road, I'm sure every kid in the Western World will rejoice for the fact that 616 Peter Parker is finally single, and they will flock by millions to their local comic book shop to buy the comics again. This will followed by a cure to AIDS, the end of world hunger, and a global ban of boy bands.

This HAS to be a trick, i mean it HAS to be. Joe Q sounded like he got doped up on LSD and just wanted to piss the fans off for the sake of it. I dont think he's gonna break up the marriage. The only thing that matters to me with Spider-man is that he's rid of this whole Spider God mess. I still stand by my idea that Peter's Spider God status is all a ruse by a new, dangerous, perhaps alien villain to remove the main threat to his plans by seducing him with a greater power.

Look the Spider-God mess can be retconned or ignored. So can Gwen sleeping with Norman. I think most fans have blocked that from their minds for the most part (myself included). But retconning the marriage is kind of the straw that broke the camel's back.

I mean look at the new Sensational Spidey, which I just read. It's fantastic and shows why these characters work so well together. Their marriage was a good idea and when well written has been a strong point. Een in the ****tiest times (JMS' current writing, perhaps?) Peter/MJ's relationship has been the highlight.

The reason comic have been mostly bad for Spidey in the last 15 years is because of morons like Joey Q keep trying to find a way to get rid of the marriage and realizing it sucks and sales are dropping.

The Clone Saga, The Final Chapter/Reboot/MJ death, the seperation....all terrible ideas compliments of mostly Howard Mackie and John Bryne. Two of the most reviled men in Spidey comics history because they ran the books into the ground trying to shake it. JMS and Paul Jenkins actually brought MJ back in an intelligent way and the books were good again leading up to it and around it (Aunt May finding out, Ezekiel, Doc Ock's countdown, Goblin's suicidal return) and now they are trying to go back on it....and it's crashing.

Outside of a few good issues centered on Black Cat, ironically enough, Sensational's marriage supporting issue has been the best tale in the alst year of Spidey.

Is there ANYONE out there who honestly wants to read about MARRIED Peter RE-DATING his wife, or MARRIED Peter dating others??

Or MARRIED MJ dating others and not realizing it, whether Pete is mindwiped too or not, i do not know. Sure, this would cause stress/hardship on Pete in the ol' Spidey tradition.... BUT....."his wife is dating and doesn't know she is married" kinda story...is so...dumb.

ANY "RE-DATING YOUR CURRENT WIFE" storylines will not be acceptable no matter if they fix any other areas of concern.

We've put up with lots of dippy-ideas.....but RE-DATING would take the cake, and just may break that camel's back if they go there, like they make it sound like they are. Everyone has pretty much seen a massive mindwipe coming for some time now.
