Deadpool 2 Josh Brolin is Cable

The dude that played Colossus in Singer's X-Men? Was he up to play Cable?

Nope. Never.
There was just a very funny dude on here who thought that Cudmore would make a better Cable than Brolin. :woot:

As sad as it sounds, Cudmore probably did Colossus about as much justice as Brolin did Cable..

Well maybe that's a bit too far & harsh on Brolin, but he certainly was quite underwhelming in DP2 I felt.

I liked Brolin as Cable, but I was slightly disappointed with Cable overall. I thought the characterization and everything was fine and spot on. He was funny and had good chemistry with Wade. My issue is he wasn't developed enough. I felt like he needed to have more character moments. 90% of his character work is him looking sad briefly. That's no fault of Brolin, that's an issue of him just not being given more to do. I felt like Cable in Act 3 was great. Act 1 & 2, just is basically the Terminator.

Yeah, I think they needed to give him more as a main character.

I think given that this is purely an introduction I can forgive them not blowing their load with Cable. It's still ultimately Deadpool's film and I think the real meat of his character is coming in X-Force. (Provided Disney/Feige doesn't kill it)

Agreed. Cable was the part of the film I was most excited for, too. But again, I am not saying Cable sucks in this. I liked him. I just wish it was more substantial.

I agree X-Force should be more Cable's movie and likely that is/was the intention. I just hope X-Force isn't killed in the transition. Even if this version of Deadpool and these characters are done after X-Force (again, I hope not...because I like these movies so far and especially Reynolds as Deadpool), but at least giving us X-Force would make a complete trilogy sort of.

[blackout]I didn't really buy Cable going to Deadpool for help as it felt a little convenient for a team up excuse.

Did he need to go to get help from the guy who was trying to protect the kid so he can kill the kid? was there a deleted scene maybe where Cable tried to kill the kid and couldn't because of juggernaut?[/blackout]

Be mindful of spoilers guys. Tag them.

Yeah, with how great these films have been the least Disney can do is let them finish it out as a trilogy.

Disney should just let them do their own thing as Fox. They don't need to be tied into the MCU. :whatever:

In that initial conference call after the announcement, Iger already announced intent to incorporate Deadpool into the MCU (but possibly use the FOX banner as a name to allow it to stay R-rated), so it will happen once this is done. Question will become, reboot, sequel, requel, etc.

He didn't exactly talk about MCU, but talked about releasing future possible Deadpool movies under the Marvel banner, but with a different brand to differentiate it from the rest. He was actually pretty vague and careful with his choice of words. At this point, it could mean anything.

The process is going to be much slower and more articulated than MCU fans online think.

It will be a slow process, yes. But I don't see anything non-MCU being put before a camera after the acquisition is official. For X-Force to be completed, I think it needs to film before it finalizes.

But, do you really expect them to keep a seperate universe for Deadpool and not add who is at the moment one of the most popular superhero IPs to their already massively successful MCU? I see no universe in which he is not incorporated into the MCU. That doesn't mean he will be an Avenger or anything, but I see no way they don't throw him into that world. Heck, even the director of this Deadpool movie says he would be excited to see it. Once the deal is official, it is inevitable.

I don't care, man. I just hope Kevin Feige & Co. won't shatter and depersonalize everything these guys have created thus far.

Didn't Murdoch say that the acquisition wouldn't be finalised until next may-ish? If that's the case they might well be into the filming of X-Force by then.

12-18 months, so yes next May-ish would be correct. Like I said before, as long as X-Force is filmed, it should see release no issue.

Really dug Cable's tech and fighting style in this, Brolin did well with what he was given to do and in the final 3rd the bouncing off with Reynolds felt like the Cable & Deadpool comics of old. More development would have been great but in a 2 hour film he did what was needed.

Yep, praying they get a start on X-Force before that happens. Because no matter what lip service Bob Iger says, there will be a desire to rein these movies in to a certain point under new management, and we'll be the poorer for it.

If Josh was tall as his father, he would be perfect Cable.

I liked how the poked fun at how he wasn't as tall as he is in the books.

We'll see. He and Feige haven't worked out all the details, and I imagine it will be different to some extent once this occurs. Hopefully, we'll get X-Force before that occurs though.

Brolin was badass as Cable

Loved the banter he had with Deadpool throughout the movie. Looking forward to seeing more of him in future movies

It's not like Brolin is short, he's just like that next to Reynolds who's ridiculously tall.

Loved Cable. Easily the best part of the film to me.

He looks too short as Cable which distracted me. Not impressed with the character development as well.
