James and Rebecca aren't even real. They're just an illusion created by Psylocke and implanted into the mind of Jean.

My bad, there is only 1 book, either way, the book makes it official. I doubt they would change such a big detail like that and have discrepencies between the book and the movie. It's highly unlikely when looking at the many junior novels that I have read in the past before the movies come out. Usually big things like that arent changed. Cyclops dies, yeah it sucks, I hate it as well. But thats the spin the scriptwriters and studio wanted to take, I bet ratner had nothing to do with it really. People give the director too much credit, and alot less credit to the producers and scriptwriters and managers.

A book for kids makes it official? Try the latest news that he lives in the real deal movie novel written by Chris Claremont, I'm more inclined to believe that. The kids book has Avalanche, we know for a fact that Avalanche is not in the movie. I believe Arclight isn't in the junior novel either.

That explains why Jean went blind and never died in the X2 novel...

The Junior Book = He Dies
Proper Novel = He Lives apparently.

He'll be at the end of the movie

um, just read the x2 novel, pretty big change at the end

that too but i was tryin to provide a non x related title

well i can say is a give a big middle finger to the Cyclops haters....

i'm thinking that Cyke is unconcious when they bring him back to the mansion and he returns at the end when Jean or Dark Phoenix is gonna do some real damage maybe talk to Jean and tell her to fight the Dark Phoenix and the Dark Phoenix leaves her or something to that affect basically a happy ending where Scott and Jean to back together again but with the Phoenix force still in her not the Dark Phoenix. it would be lame if Jean died again or repeat what happened in X2.

As much as I'd like to believe the first post, I don't.

I'm just skeptical and warey of all these kinds of reports now. This close to the release certain idiots are gonna have a field day with false info and reports - take the DarkPhoenix fiasco for example. I'm still annoyed for allowing myself to believe the 2hrs 15mins running time.

Well, that was presented by the head administrator...

"empire strikes back book............ in the original book, vader wan't his father, he told luke that he killed his father"

Thats becuase NO ONE knew Vader was Lukes father. Those pages of the script were blank. David Prowse was told by Lucas how to make Vader act in that scene. There was no dialogue spoken. The only ones who knew were Lucas, James Earl Jones and Mark Hammill.

So there no way Lucas would have told the author of the novel 10 months or whatever in advance for the official novel.

I know and again it's not that I don't trust Mirko or LS! either, I do. I just got my hopes up too high and accepted the 2hr+ runtime which was stupid of me, without having confirmation. I'll celebrate and be delighted if the runtime is 2hrs 15mins and if Cyclops lives but until I see the movie for myself or we get offical running time confirmation I'm remaining a skeptic. I still believe Cyclops will live/come back at the end of X3 but I don't really believe reports saying he does.

I'm still sticking to that untill proven other wise

This makes sense though...

Why create all the negative hype about Cyclops?

Because some of us will go in expecting a ****ty movie, but leave seeing a brilliant one. Investing a negative sense in a viewer will make a movie that much better when it turns out the rumor is fake.

Exactly.

So many are so arrogant as to predict the outcome of a film even before it is out, and that is the thing that gets my goat: this neverending debate.

People say Cyke's role is reduced and so forth, but did anyone ever realise that by creating so much uncertainty and insecurity surrounding Cyclops, we have unwittingly raised him on a platform where he is the only character relentlessly and consistently argued about...?

It smacks of strategy to me, and because it's been going on for a long time, it's been working.
