That's pretty much Godzilla's character in nearly everything, though. He doesn't care about humanity and what he destroys as long as he gets the job done.
That's the exact reason. They even have a character to explain that directly. Kong saw that they weren't a threat and didn't have ill intentions so he didn't see a need to do anything to them. To me, it was a perfect touch because it shows Kong's intelligence and makes him less of a mindless monster. Actually, I'd say this entire movie does a great deal to drive that home & Kong ends up coming off as a fully realized character & not just a CGI creation.
A nice contrast to Godzilla's "I don't really give a **** about you humans, I'm just here to fight" mentality.
Somebody from the China at the Box Office thread on BOT just posted this. Looks like it's already doing really well in China.
Basically we are ants to Godzilla. If I'm fighting a dude and there are ants on the concrete, some might get squished. I don't hate the ants per se, but they're in the way.

Except there's no indication given that Kong even has an offspring, so it wouldn't make any sense unless he's asexual like Zilla '98.
Plus, I don't think many fans would be happy if they killed Kong in GvK and immediately replaced him with a younger one for no logical reason.
Maybe but I think the story could be better if he died. Where does Kong go after the movie? I don't think he should be able to return to Skull Island whenever he wants.
t:Exactly. At the end of the day, I'd love to see him back on Skull Island with new threats to tackle. After all, he does technically look after the natives there.
Was better than i expected. The characters could have been better developed, but for what many called just a big-budgeted b-movie, it surprised me more than i though it would. Scenes like that failed sacrifice gave the film an interesting personality.
Eh. Thought Tom Hiddleston was miles better than Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
