Guardians of the Galaxy Lee Pace as Ronan: the Accuser

Ronan is one my favorite characters. I'm not crazy about the black that goes down to his chin though. But he still looks awesome

Same here, his costume is pretty comic accurate but they have made some slight alterations.

I wouldnt be surprised to see him sporting a green hood by the end of the movie.

Nothing says "badass" like wielding a powerful hammer with multiple abilities huh. :thor:

I actually prefer Ronan as a character to Thor. Ronan isnt as powerful, but I consider him the Judge Dredd of the marvel universe in that he is totally bad-ass.

Loved it in the Annihilators when Ikon pointed him out as the weakest of the group by some way, and then it was Ronan who took out the main bad guy when non of the others could, he then says something like "Not bad for the weakest in the group." Awesome stuff.

I really like Ronan's movie costume. It looks badass and has a nice Samurai vibe to it. As for his strength, he was really strong in the EMH cartoon. He was able to overpower the Hulk and it took Ms. Marvel going into Binary-mode to finally beat him. If he's even half that strong in the movie, then he'll be one scary dude.

Given that the second weakest guy in the group was frickin' Beta Ray Bill. . .

I think he's probably be about MCU Thor level, give or take a few notches.

Probably, or maybe MCU Hulk-level strength.

Naw that would be too much, Ronan's a solid brick but nowhere near Hulk level or even Thor level really.

That EMH episode wasn't a very accurrate portrayal of his strength, he's not even Thing level.

Exactly, Ronan is awesome in The Annihilators despite being by far the weakest member.

Strength wise he isnt Thing level, but with his hammer and knowledge of fighting he would give Thing a good fight and beat him IMO.

He did beat someone in Annihilation who had earlier given the Silver Surfer a good fight. Plus in WoK it took 3 of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard to put him down.

Yea Ronan is a thorough bad ass. Being the weakest of the Annihilators doesn't really mean much, considering the rest of them are bonafide class 100 planet destroyers. And yea he took out Ravenous in Annihilation.

Marvel officially classifies comic-book Ronan's strength as 5, and puts him in the 75 ton lift range. Far less than Hulk or Thing; about equal to Rhino.

Eh, that's not really "far" weaker than the Thing. The Thing is only a class 80 or so himself. It just means that if the two of them got in a fist fight, the Thing would *eventually* win. Of course, the only reason they'd be in a fist fight is because someone took away or neutralized his Universal Weapon first.

( though the thing I've never been clear on is how much of Ronan's brickiness is innate, and how much comes from his armor. . . )

And plus, and these needs to be emphasized, this is not the comics. Just because things are one way in the comics doesn't automatically mean that it will be that way in the MCU. Marvel has proven that they're perfectly willing to make changes to the source material if they think that it will make for a better movie.

Yeah but so far the MCU has been pretty consistent in keeping the strength gaps in characters similar to the comics.

MCU Kurse > MCU Abomination> MCU Hulk > MCU Thor > MCU Killian = MCU Iron Man > MCU Loki > MCU Malekith (w/o the Aether) > MCU Red Skull = MCU Cap

^Which is exactly how their strength chart flows in the comics as well. They're not just gonna all of sudden take Ronan from Iron Man levels to as strong as the Hulk.

Still talking comics canon here as opposed to (unknown) MCU levels, but yeah, Ronan's godliest strength comes from the UW and armor. Without those, he's "only" Class 20.

Yea i'm sure he can amp himself using the cosmic energies of his hammer.

Yeah the rest of the Annihilators are power houses. Some of the strongest heroes out there. Yet Ronan is still a very important part of the team.

And yeah that fight with Ravenous was awesome. Ravenous had previously fought Silver Surfer twice (one time matching him, the other time being made a show of) and also Ravenous fought Firelord to a stalemate. Then he fought Ronan and got a universal weapon broken over his face, awesome stuff.

So Ronan can definitely hang with the big boys.

Yeah his UW and armour boost him a lot, but as I pointed out above, he can definitely hang with some pretty powerful enemies in a fight.

So how about that Ronan huh? He's gonna be strong enough to lift/choke Drax The Destroyer with one had!

He's also doing so quite easily, without any sign of straining.

Yeah Ronan looks pretty damn strong. Just think that all of these powerful guys are working for Thanos. I can't wait to see how powerful they make him.

And Nebula looks like a complete badass as well.

^ Damn this shot just continues to impress, I can't wait to see the entire fight.

So, is the MCU Ronan taking it's cues from Ulitmate Ronan from the Thanos story?

So, if Nebula is getting matched against Gamora, and Ronan (being billed as "the main baddie" in marketing thus far) is fighting Drax, who's the Big Bad who'll battle our main hero, Star-Lord? I know Thanos is the top dog, but I feel he'll be in the background in this one. Could it be The Collector has a bigger role than it's being presented as, and he could end up as the film's primary villain?
