I like Johnson.

(Oh my god did you guys just read what I just said :hehe:)

Seriously though, he'll be very interesting. He and Cavill would be great.

I can't wait to find out the other monsters identity!

I think after Superman Cavill might be too big for Godzilla. You need an actor nobody really gives a **** about, so Johnson fits.

:o

Did anyone read this?

From Bloody Disgusting:
CHUD is reporting that Legendary and Warner Bros.’ Godzilla will feature more than the iconic dino monster. They report “confirmed” news that the Gareth Edwards-directed film, in theaters May 16, 2014, will feature more than one monster, adding that two new monsters will also be wreaking havoc.
Warner Bros. has also made it clear that their interpretation of the material “follows the story of a solider” and is “way different” than the Toho Godzilla films. Shooting begins this spring.
In other news, things are getting ugly with the removal of two producers on the reboot. Deadline discovered that Legendary Pictures today filed suit (read it here) against producers Dan Lin, Roy Lee and Doug Davison to have them removed from the sequel and to stop a potential temporary restraining order by them against the film’s production. This is truly bizarre news to me as I personally have known the trio to be attached since before we exclusively broke the news on the remake back in August of 2009.

What happened with these producers?

I think he is a poor actor so I totally don't care about him...

If Johnson has dat hair underneath an army helmet, then count me in.

I couldnt care less about the human characters, Godzilla is the main attraction.

The original movie I felt there was a nice balanced of focus between human characters and Godzilla.

I have a feeling godzilla will be an unintentional hero that doesnt give two shets about humans. The other two monsters appear first, then godzilla. It could be a territorial thing. Dont really care as long as there is lots of city stomping fun with giant haymakers thrown.

Remember the arcade game Rampage? I keep thinking about it in relation to this movie.

johnson was terrible in kickass and came off annoying

I think he is a vapid actor who only gets roles because he is good looking. I don't get the hype for him, I just don't.

That's all I'm going to say about him because I don't want to turn this into an AJ bashing thread. This is about Godzilla.

An anti-hero of sorts. Much like the Heisei era Godzilla.

Could be a strong possibility there.

I remember reading a Rampage movie was being developed over a year ago. It's been awfully quiet since.

I think he takes some interesting chances as an actor. It's not like hes Taylor Lautner or whatever. He's alright.

Plus he'll be quite the star when Anna Karenina starts.

He was good Anna Karenina. A little too pretty boy in in though, haha. I'm talking about he was almost androgynous in that film.

I wouldn't mind Godzilla getting the Cloverfield treatment with the camcorder even if it means lots of shaky cam if the movie is going to be "realistic".

Loved that game. Can't tell how much money I poured into that machine!

no, i dont want to see that for Godzilla... watching Cloverfield gave me a headache

I've always thought Serizawa was almost awesome as Godzilla himself.

Me either except if it means we barely get to Godzilla. I want LOTS of full on shots of Big G not shaky footage of an arm or tip of his tail etc.

Wow, I haven't posted on here in quite some time but i'm a huge Godzilla fan so, as we grow ever closer to a new movie, here i am.

Anyhow, i'm with you with wanting to see eye-candy city stomping fun but, I really have a feeling that this movie will be heavily story driven. Have you seen Edwards "Monsters" movie? The monsters in the movie took a backseat to the heavy human drama that the movie was really about. Granted, Godzilla is indeed a ICON and I don't believe that he would be used in the same manner the monsters were in that movie but if Edwards previous movie is any indication, then prepare to see a movie that is heavily focused around its human cast. I think what we all want, and which would be the big challenge of course, would be having a good balance of the two, a good human drama to go along with a good dose of Godzilla doing what he does best.

As far as the news of possible other monsters in the film, gentlemen its WAAAY to early to even say if Godzilla will battle other monsters. Remember how Kamoebas was announced how he would appear in Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S.? Only to appear to be just a carcass that washed ashore, apparently a victim of Godzilla. I'm excited as anyone here to even be having a chance to witness another Hollywood produced Godzilla movie but before I get too excited i'm just crossing my fingers it gets done right this time. Honestly, having Edwards as a director didn't exactly get me hyped when I heard the announcement, because Monsters really didn't "tickle my fancy"

But after hearing what Edwards showed off at Comic-Con (which i'm dying to see the actual footage!!!), and the statements that he has made, has made me feel some confidence in him that he may be able to deliver us a legitimate Hollywood made Godzilla film. But until the movie is made and is upon us, I patiently wait with fingers crossed. I really do hope the King gets his proper due this time. :woot:

will big G at least have the flame breath?

It's been reported by the director himself, Gareth Edwards, that Godzilla will harken back to the original 1954 film, atomic breath and all (it was never a "flame breath",:lmao:)

He's a big fan of the original Godzilla and will pay homage with a great deal of respect and keeping the character iconic :D
