I loved the line "in 1954, we awakened something." That was a cool nod to the original movie. I wonder if they might even try to subtly insinuate that the events from the original movie actually happened in this continuity?

It's been vaguely hinted at for awhile, but I didn't think they would actually make that apparent in the trailer.

That is a nuclear missile being absorbed. Looks like whatever it is absorbing it is attracted to the uranium in it.

It fits into the Toho series at least, how it all ties back into 1954. Though I expect this version is more of like an alternate timeline.

Yup, looks like the Mutos are feasting off the nuclear energy. Perhaps Godzilla also feeds in this way and that's how the creatures come into conflict. But we'll find out in May t:t:

I have no affinity for Godzilla and have not seen any of the old movies, so it ha seen interesting reading the hype and knowledge in this thread.

Speaking purely from the perspective of someone who loves a creature feature that trailer really did it for me, the film seems tonally perfect and downright chilling!

I'd recommend seeing the original 1954 version at least. It's quite chilling in it's own right.
