Marijuana: The Super Antibiotic Of The Future

...Specifically, the team tested five of marijuana’s most common cannabinoids against six different MRSA strains of “clinical relevance”, including epidemic EMRSA strains, which are the ones responsible for hospital outbreaks. They found that every single one of the cannabinoids tested showed “potent activity” against a wide variety of the bacteria....

...

“Everything points towards these compounds having been evolved by the plants as antimicrobial defenses that specifically target bacterial cells,” said Simon Gibbons, one of the authors of the study and head of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Biological Chemistry at the University College London School of Pharmacy, in a follow up interview in the MIT Technological Review.
Amazingly, the cannabinoids even showed “exceptional activity” against a strain of the MRSA that had developed extra proteins for increased resistance to antibiotics, showing that cannabis remained effective despite the bacteria’s adaptations...

That last page feels an awful lot like one person having a conversation through two different account.
hmmm... Verily not.

Am I the bad guy? The yang to the yin? The one that's supposed to say the lame phrase "We're the same you and I?". Or just an independent voice on the issue that should be banned? I am not big into this. I have seen some effects personally speaking that shape my opinions. I have spoken and don't care if it's an unpopular opinion. The evil looking meme (with a guy nodding) on whether someone were to vote for someone or not on the previous page I wonder about. I think discussion is founded and attitude is unfounded.

Unless someone is a MOD here literally no other poster can stop you from posting your thoughts. So, post away, be vigorous in your opinion... But the martyr act simply because you encounter push back is silly. No one IS stopping anyone from putting their opinion out there, but you have to accept that people will have opinions on your opinions.

happy saturday night

Well, I read the suppositions that I'm someone else or a PBU and it gets ridiculous. That is fair.

As for the issue at hand, pushback is what I expect on this anyway. I have fairly moderate opinions on the subject but like most hot topic issues it's full-on one way or the other. I don't support making it a controlled substance but have voiced my concerns. I ended it pretty much with supporting a more individualized healthcare system without saying we should go all out prosecuting people so I think that's fair enough. As for full-on saying it's manna from heaven (using it at various dosages unlike most prescriptions out there), I can't say that it is and that of course goes back to the concerns I have.

It's been MONTHS since I have been able to get any. Part of that is just finances and having to pay for the important stuff in life but part of it is that since I didn't smoke when I was a teen and started in my mid twenties, I don't have the connections to do so.

I'm sure it'll be legalized at some point one way or the other... I want more alternatives to be out there from a medicinal aspect. I support local governments being able to discuss the issue.

there are pills, edibles, smoke, vapor... what else do you want lol

I was referring to more alternatives for one to choose from if seeking out marijuana for a daily medicinal remedy.

As for the different forms, I think that (medicinally speaking if using on a daily basis) if the half lives can be kept under control to reach a steady state then that's the main thing. Even if it could be kept under control though, I think recreationally is where it's at with this more so than medicinally as alternatives (which I wish there were more of) could be chosen for pain management, anxiousness, ect.

Edit: I'm not against stuff recreationally speaking. For myself, different alcoholic beverages now and again I enjoy. The main thing is I don't have it in my system at work or do it on a chronic level but that's a totally different topic that I don't want to get into here.

Well, I just voted in the Canadian federal election. Fingers crossed that this is Harpers last day.

One of ya'll aware me on a good portable vap.

What kind of vape are you looking for? Launch boxes are great for casual smokers and can be smoked pretty much anywhere if you're discreet, and they're probably the cheapest legitimate vape you can find. As far as I know, you can only use it for weed.

Browse them here.

Sasha Grey gave that one five stars. lol

Aight. I trust her then. Thanks. I usually buy a black or other type of cigar and just roll it that way.

The best vape on the market right now is the Crafty and the Mighty by S&B (they also made the Volcano). It's hands and shoulders above the competition to be the best. It's also $339, so it's quite an investment. From me using it from a friend, it's worth that money.

If you're looking for something cheaper, I recommend Arizer Solo/Air. Arizer Solo is what I recommend, as you can find it on ebay for $130. I only recommend the Air if you really want something stealthy and you go out in public a lot with a vape (it also has half the battery life though.

Man, those are tempting. Not to sound like a prick, but I really don't want to spend $200+ for a smoking piece. That's why friends are great, though. :o

A friend of mine purchased an Action Bronson pen last year and it was the tackiest, greatest thing ever.

I'm not a fan of vape pens. They're usually crappy and can only be used for wax. They're cheap options for a reason.

I don't know why you think you're sounding like a prick, but $200+ for a smoking piece is something to be hesitant on spending money on. To me the Crafty is tempting, but I'm most likely gonna go for a Solo if I get a piece because spending $300+ feels more like a luxury smoking spend than a nice, practical one.

Also, I had an Extreme Q (a desktop vape) from Arizer for 2 years which I loved until I threw it away when I graduated. The Solo is pretty much the mobile version of that.

New York City Bans Sales of Sketchy Synthetic Marijuana, Better Known as K2

NYC mayor Bil De Blasio signed a trio of bills Tuesday that outlaw the sale of synthetic weed, commonly known as K2. It’s basically a plant sprayed with chemicals, then packaged and sold in bodegas as “incense” or “potpourri” that’s “not for human consumption.” The exact mix of synthetic cannabinoids varies from brand to brand, and changes often to get around states’ controlled substance lists.

Previously, stores could be fined $250 for possession of K2 Now, selling the drug comes with heavy fines—up to $50,000—and jail time, and stores caught selling it could lose their licenses to sell tobacco.

De Blasio announced the new laws in East Harlem, which has been hit especially hard by K2. DNAinfo New York reported 120 people were sent to the hospital with in a single week earlier this year after they smoked a brand of synthetic marijuana called Mr. Big Shot, which has since been taken off the shelves.

Still, K2 is ubiquitous and dirt cheap—cheaper than food, as the New York Times pointed out—making it especially risky for the city’s homeless population.

“Since January 2015, there have been more than 4,500 synthetic cannabinoid-related emergency department visits in New York City, with more than 1,200 emergency department visits occurring in July ... Patients have a median age of 37 and are disproportionately residents of shelters and individuals with a psychiatric illness,” according to the city.

“It’s very cheap, you can buy a bag from anywhere between $2 and $5,” a spokesperson for City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, who sponsored one of the new anti-K2 bills, told DNAInfo. “It doesn’t come up on drug tests. So if you are on parole, if you have an ACS case, this is the ideal drug because nobody is going to be able to test for it.”

The high is extremely erratic, though. Some K2 mixtures just seem to make people fall asleep, while others—like Mr. Big Shot—have caused seizures, vomiting and hallucinations. Or worse.

In Anchorage, Alaska, where the drug is known as Spice, it’s become more prevalent than cocaine and heroin combined, cops say. A naked woman allegedly high on the drug ripped apart the inside of an Anchorage Subway restaurant last week.

Alaska authorities sent some Spice being sold in that state to a California lab, which found it was made with “a hodgepodge of different chemicals and drugs that include cocaine, methamphetamine and ecstasy,” the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services said.

De Blasio insisted the new laws weren’t meant to crack down on Spice users, who are “amongst the most vulnerable in our city, and often include those who are dealing with mental health issues already,” rather to curtail distribution of the drug.

The K2 ban will take effect in 60 days.

All the more reasons marijuana should be legal, this stuff is the goddamn devil and people smoke it like fiends when the real thing is so much better for you. I hate K2 w/ a passion
