I feel like Momoas acting is just okay. Not convincing enough for Lex Luthor IMO.

As Ronon Dex. Ronon was one of the better characters in Stargate Atlantis and it wasn't just because of the writing.

I watched the show too, that's why I'm saying he's not good enough for Lex.

^ I disagree. Momoa's acting in SGA demonstrates that he's more than capable of playing Lex and doing a very good job.

To each his own I guess. nothing I've seen Momoa in screams Lex, or even the capability of portraying a convincing Lex Luthor.

I don't think most people would agree with you, his career so far has been very mediocre. When we're talking Lex Luthor, actors like Bryan Cranston, Mark Strong, Denzel Washington... all of them would be good choices, Momoa is not even in the same league.

He was pretty good in Conan, and the crapness of the film wasn't his fault. He was alright within the very confined role he had in GoT.

I suppose I'm asking "why him"? There should probably be a better answer than "why not" or "why anybody".

The reason I think Momoa would be a great Luthor is because I was very impressed with his portrayal of Ronon and because I'd like to see a Luthor that doesn't conform to people's canned expectations.

Hard to say without seeing a screentest or knowing who he's playing, or knowing what the film's story is gonna be. I do doubt he's something as minor as a henchman though, I also doubt they'd bother casting him for something like Doomsday. Will definitely be interesting to see who he ends up playing.

I'm not sure that there are any. In this thread alone, we have had suggestions ranging from Denzel Washington to Leo DiCaprio, from Philip Seymour Hoffmann to Will Smith. Mamoa seems like a relatively pedestrian choice, albeit one without the kind of resume that might be expected.

Momoa was straight-up garbage in Conan. He probably is an overall better actor that Arnold, but he doesn't have a tenth of the charisma. It's a shame too because I thought he looked perfect for the role.

If he is indeed cast in this film, I hope it's as a grunt type of character that isn't required to do much more than fight people.

You mean because he has three of them?
lol no. It's because they are like Super arched, it makes him look creepy and cartoonish. I'd certainly enjoy watching Cavill pretend to punch him in the face. Oh my god that was mean, I'm sorry.

Haha, yeah he does have some pointy eyebrows. You're right, they do look cartoonish.

I don't remember Batfleck getting any Oscar noms for acting.

Honestly I don't care about Oscar noms as long as an actor is right for a role I don't care if their last gig was singing and dancing with Barney the Dinosaur.
