BvS Likely Deductions About Who'll Be Cast as the Next Batman

If they really plan to use a GA 'hot-ticket' for Lex than any solid actor is out at this point sadly. Which I don't think they would do but..................
Spacey and Hackman were well known, well respected actors, I expect Warners will keep up that tradition of casting the character. Maybe I'll be wrong but that's what I'm expecting.

Hamm saying that he isn't into Superheroes means nothing. Actors say stuff like that all the time and end up going back on their word.

We need Abed to be Batman.

While I certainly don't feel they should go with a rookie Batman, I'm not sure what what to make of the news that WB is looking to cast an older actor in the role -- especially in light of the news that they're trying to establish a shared DC cinematic universe. I'd personally like to a see a seasoned Batman who is in his mid to late thirties. If they ultimately go with someone in his forties or even fifties, however, it would be hard not to dismiss the notion that Miller's Dark Knight Returns will more than inform the new yet-to-be-named film; and I don't consider that such a good thing.

I still think its gonna be someone younger, we've heard so many rumours even over the last year that turned out to be complete BS

Hamm is long shot but I feel chances are a bit better because he's got a connection with Snyder already :)

I keep using "if" because these are rumors. WB has confirmed nothing one way or the other.

Calling it now, Hamm is Batman

I still think Bentley has a decent shot at the role; he isn't very young looking at all. So, at this time, I'll say it could be him, Jon Hamm or Jim Caviezel. If it came down to the last two older gents, I'd definitely go with Caviezel. He's been playing Batman on Person of Interest for quite some time now.

Any of the three would be great, so I would have no complaints. My preference is still for Bentley, because he seems more interesting somehow.

The only problem with Hamm is he seems pretty scrawny. I don't personally believe the height stated for him.

I don't understand the Jon Hamm suggestion. Isn't Superman supposed to be the first superhero in the new Snyder universe? So Bruce doesn't become Batman until he's 45 or so?

There's a chance that whatever Goyer wanted is not happening right now and theyre going for an older actor. So he's Batman for a long time. The first superhero, while Superman is the first super-powered being on earth.

For me that would only work if they brought Bale back and I think they should move on, do a reboot, cast an actor in his early 30s.

I think Hamm has a solid enough frame. I don't want to start posting shirtless pics of the guy, but I'm not too worried about his ability to fill a Bat-suit. If he lifts some weights he'd be perfect.

Out of that list, I like Caviezel and Hamm for it the most. But their TV schedules could potentially be an issue.

I'm starting to like the older Batman thing too. I mean, people want a seasoned BatGod right? What better way to portray that credibly than by going with an older actor who can portray a Batman who's been at this for a few years? It makes some sense guys. A rookie Batman shouldn't be going up against Superman.

ALSO, this is me taking a shot in the dark but I'd LOVE to start with an older Bruce in this reboot and only have his Batman appear in this and the JL and/or Trinity film. Then going forward we can do a Batman Beyond film with the same actor as an even older Bruce. It's a pretty cool possibility when you think about it.

I also think the seasoned/experienced BatGod version of the character is the way to go in a universe shared with Superman and the rest of the JL. Caviezel is still my ideal choice, but I wouldn't mind Hamm either.

No to BatGod, I hate when they portray him that way it's just ridiculous

I disagree. I don't see how you need Bale to do that.

Agree to disagree but to buy a new actor as an established Batman is a little and to take, the new reboot Batman should be in the early years of his career.

I can't really see any other way for them to make the character compatible with a universe shared with Superman and the rest. I'm not saying have him accomplish ridiculous feats, but they definitely need to emphasise his brilliant intellect for one. Regwec also made a great point earlier about IQ not being simply about potential (or something along those lines), but also about experience. That's another reason I think they should go for an older, experienced Batman.

Agreed because it would only be used to make Supes look like an idiot. Of course I want him to be highly intelligent and be an actual detective this time but nothing over the top.

High IQ yes but when he anticipates every single thing it just becomes boring. I guess it's how extreme it is. It annoyed me in the JL cartoons how he just knew everything and he made Superman look an idiot at times.

I don't think he needs to be an older experienced, a Batman whose been around for 2 or 3 years would be fine.

So I read on Batman on Film that he has some reliable sources that Batman is going to be an older more seasoned guy in his 40's. So looks like Hamm, Urban, Affleck, Caviezel, and others are back in the mix. Younger guys are out

If his scoop is correct cause he's had plenty of wrong scoops in the past
