I've not personally enjoyed any of the live action Disney films thus far. My kids have watched a liked a couple. For me, I'd rather stick with the cartoon/original versions.
With that said, I hope this film does well and I do hope the actress nails the roll even if she was not my first casting choice for such.
However, there is absolutely nothing wrong nor racist about those that want the character to be portrayed as originally designed in the animated version. I'm all for diversity and support it. However, changing race to iconic characters just to do it I've never been a fan of that either. I also mean that for any race that is swapped.
For example: I wouldnt want a White guy playing Blade for Marvel, I wouldnt want an asian playing Wolverine for Marvel, I wouldnt want a white guy playing Aladdin for Disney, I wouldnt want an indian man playing Black Panther, I wouldnt want a black man playing Clark Kent. Etc. There is nothing racist in that. Some people just want these iconic characters portrayed as they always have been. But, I do love other diverse characters that have been created. I enjoyed the Calvin Ellis Superman, I really, really love Miles Morales Spiderman. There are always ways to become more diverse and leave original characters the way that they are.
