Live-Action The Little Mermaid

Bailey sounds incredible. I gotta say, I'm really curious to see what they do with Sebastian because they show Flounder for a millisecond in that trailer and he pretty much looks like a photorealistic tropical fish unlike the more cartoonish animals in Pinocchio, for example.

I’m still not convinced this is going to work. The original was astonishingly good and I’m sorry to say a lot of Disney live action remakes haven’t been as good. With a few exceptions (Cinderella, jungle book, Aladdin and Beauty & The Beast.)

I’m relieved that her hair has that natural tone and doesn’t look like some Party City wig mess.

Have not cared for any of the live-action Disney films that have been released thus far but this teaser did something for me. I’m in.

I’m getting BATB ‘17 and TLK ‘19 vibes from the teaser. Visually close to the 1989 film but hardly any of the magic— I do like Halle’s take on “Part of Your World” though.

I think I’m going to skip out on this.

The Branagh Cinderella movie was actually better than the 1950 film, which I thought was massively overrated. It complemented the original without being slavish to it.

The problem with most of Disney’s live action remakes is that they’re too slavish to the superior animated movies and hardly any of that magic carries over.

She sounds INCREDIBLE. No surprise. I just wish there was more color. It so desaturated. And of course, we're using the same hyper-realism for the fish that made Lion King look boring.

But overall, I'm excited. It's gonna clear a billion.

Yeah, since copyright extension doesn't seem to be in the cards, don't expect Disney to be going too far off model anymore. Their remakes are just reasons to bypass copyright and trademark issues.

I’m dreading Disney’s inevitable live action Frozen remake in the next 5-10 years…

I'm in the camp that's feeling nothing from this trailer.

It shows virtually no color or life. The original animated movie was full of both, and having that replaced with a very (realistically) dark ocean is just all kinds of disappointing.

IMO a movie that was best left not remade into live-action, because the live-action drains it of everything that made the animated movie enjoyable and fun. Also the fact that they went and "re-scored" the music is a travesty. The music didn't need to be re-scored.

Halle looks and sounds absolutely fantastic and I really love the frilly tail. That said, the colours in the environment look really washed out and judging by the glimpse of Flounder, I’m worried they’ll make the fish hyper-realistic. I’m also concerned about Ursula because as much as I like Melissa, I’m not sure she’s right for the role.

Visually it looks great…but they don’t have Flotsam & Jetsam in the movie.
So hard pass until I can watch it on Disney plus for free

Halle looks and sounds phenomenal, but the cinematography looks dull and lifeless. It needs alot more color. Still 50/50 on Rob Marshall actually pulling this off... he's very hit and miss.

Alan Menken came back to score the remake, like he did with BATB and Aladdin. I don’t know if any of the score in the teaser is what’s in the actual movie.

It’s gotta be surreal for composers like Menken and Zimmer to score remakes to animated films they originally did.
