The Amazing Spider-Man Lizard's New Look: Verdict?--POLL

What did you think of his appearance?

  • PERFECT! It's the character come to life!

  • THAT'S the Lizard?! Mini-godzilla without the coat?

  • Can't tell yet. He wasn't in the trailer enough.

  • Where's Venom?!

  • It seems ok.

The snout probably wasn't going to happen, and it shouldn't have.

The Lizard treads the possibility of being a really generic villain. He's basically just that- A LIZARD. He hasn't had any really consistent look over the years, save for the fact that he usually has a lab coat. Some kind of humanity had to be preserved in his look.

But he looks much more threatening and monstrous than the trailer. He looks like he could eat Peter. He even bears a little resemblance to Rhys Ifans.

I'm fine with the look of the Lizard. Not particularly iconic, but probably never would have been.

As much as I want this movie and franchise/saga to be a huge success (critically, not financially) I never sugarcoat what I dislike. And as perfect as almost everything in the trailer seems to me the Lizard's **** design ruins it.

Here's to bring you guys back to an objective point of view, instead of trying to force yourself to like it, or hope that it grows on you.

That is all. They really should have given the fans what they wanted on this one.

Well, I'm a fan and even though I wanted a snout at first, I love the way Lizard looks.

So....this fan is pleased.

here's more. (skip to 2:20)

just consider this film lucky that there's apparently no Curt Connors in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon that airs starting April 1st. although i have low expectations for that cartoon they could pull off good visuals and character designs.

i'm willing to bet that if they made a lizard it can't look anywhere as bad as this, anyway.

Buddy, if you're going to attempt to be ironically sarcastic, at least know what you're replying to; that I'm referring to a cartoon series and not a comic arc of the same name.

Either way, since you made it apparent that you're nothing more than a spastic troll you won't warrant any more of my attention.

by the way, that purple fish still looks better than a half-assed Hulk with a tail!

I'm thinking they did just fine.

This is NOT what the lizard looks like!

his face is more venom like and doesn't look like a human face with scales to me. How am I the only one who sees this?

The Lizard is my favorite Spider-Man villain and while I love his size and body type, I'm very disappointed in the short snout since I've always been a big of the elongated snout.

that link led to nowhere

were you at any of the exclusive footage screenings? because i can't make out much detail from the trailer so far.

and that's the problem when it comes to character design. especially comic book characters. it's that most viewers wouldn't give a damn to observe the finest details, like the smallest details of the Lizard's faces. we look at the big picture and judge if it looks good. things like if it has razor sharp teeth, or that it has an intimidating frame, the saliva and tongue that was in the comics and cartoons. those were the traits that make the Lizard the awesome villain that it has been to me.

i'm not going to look at the texture of the Lizard's hide in this movie, or self-debate if the shape of the Lizard's brow, nose, lips, or whatever, actually makes it more beastly or humanoid looking, and whether that makes it a more plausible villain to fit in the movie, or otherwise. see how ridiculous that sounds? nobody's going to think of that unless you're trying to sugarcoat to make yourself feel better.

ask yourself; who, out of those going to see the movie once (that's most people), are going to have time to think and reflect on the little visual details while the movies running? even as an avid fan who might watch twice (due to everything else about the movie potentially being great), i wouldn't.

at a glance he either looks beast or stupid.

the lizard is designed so that it doesnt scare little kids. yes it will be a PG13 movie. but the villain can not look to scary. thats how hollywood works.

I don't know, Abomination was pretty scary in The Incredible Hulk.

Lizard looks horrible. Not only does he not look menacing but he just looks so generic. The lab coat has been part of Lizard's iconic look for a reason...it really adds to the disturbing image of a man transformed into this horrific monster. You take that away and he looks like a typical power rangers villain. Not to mention, no snout? Again...horrible, horrible design. I don't know which is worse: this or green goblin.

I just can say wow, while watching trailer 2 TAS is sooo really awesome with mr lizard show identity....this movie must be booming like spidey-raimi...great..

Human like, but monstrous at the same time. Looks excellent.

The face is visibly different... look at the pic CGHulk just posted and then look at the concept art pic. If you can't clearly see the differences between them then you need glasses

The mouth crearly opens on the sides of his head venom like. In the concept pic the mouth opens only from the front (and even if it does open from the sides there it's not visible). a HUGE difference there. Then also, the skin is different. In the concept art pic the skin is really rough & dry looking, but in the trailer it clearly is more slimy looking and Alien like. Also, in the trailer it shows that he indeed has the reptail eyes and the surroundings of his eyes are pink. Those things together make a serious difference, they actually make the humanoid look work.

All the lizard parts in the trailer are so quick that people don't get to really see what the actual movie look is and as they have a mental image of the concept art in their head, they naturally think it looks the same because they both have flat faces

That's why I'm saying that the moment people get to see an official lizard pic they will know that it doesn't look the same. Trust me
