The Amazing Spider-Man Lizard's New Look: Verdict?--POLL

What did you think of his appearance?

  • PERFECT! It's the character come to life!

  • THAT'S the Lizard?! Mini-godzilla without the coat?

  • Can't tell yet. He wasn't in the trailer enough.

  • Where's Venom?!

  • It seems ok.

The face is visibly different... look at the pic CGHulk just posted and then look at the concept art pic. If you can't clearly see the differences between them then you need glasses

The mouth crearly opens on the sides of his head venom like. In the concept pic the mouth opens only from the front (and even if it does open from the sides there it's not visible). a HUGE difference there. Then also, the skin is different. In the concept art pic the skin is really rough & dry looking, but in the trailer it clearly is more slimy looking and Alien like. Also, in the trailer it shows that he indeed has the reptail eyes and the surroundings of his eyes are pink. Those things together make a serious difference, they actually make the humanoid look work.

All the lizard parts in the trailer are so quick that people don't get to really see what the actual movie look is and as they have a mental image of the concept art in their head, they naturally think it looks the same because they both have flat faces

That's why I'm saying that the moment people get to see an official lizard pic they will know that it doesn't look the same. Trust me

clearly it is you who needs glasses (or better ones), or are purely ********ting yourself for whatever fanboyish reason.

1. I've outlined the lips. Here, they're as human as ever and don't stretch to the sides like a reptile. You fail.

2. Human-like nose. Nothing reptilian. Or scary/freaky-looking. Again.

3. Human-like eyes from the outside. Ditto from number 2. Except its pupils that we've seen change into an animalistic one of course.

4. Human-like head. Just like any other bald *****e you see. Wow, really, really awesome design there.

And please shut up about any of it being "venom like" already, for the umpteenth time you've said it. Shut up.

This is how Venom looks:

now tell me how in the hell does the movie's Lizard's face look like that? The only explanation I have for your claim is extreme stupidity, or fanboyism.

But just for objective argument's sake I will say that this image does give some hope that the Lizard may have at least a somewhat reptilian face:

but it's just too bad the quality is horrible. (still credit and respect to whoever took the photo at SDCC)

All this talk about venom makes me glad we got a reboot so we can see him again. I just love that guy.

Did I seriously see "Power Ranger villain"? Really?

Go **** yourself. You can call the GG in SM1 a Power Ranger villain... but the Lizard in this? Wut? He doesn't look like a man in a cheesy foam rubber suit to me.

He looks like a 9 foot creature with a face that (from a front view) is reminiscent of a human's.

Again, people who have SEEN the ****ing SDCC footage with their own eyes have said that the Lizard looks pretty much exactly the same in the footage as he does in the promo art and toys. And guess wut? The Lizard in the trailer looks pretty much exactly like the promo art and toys.

I am very pleased with the look of the Lizard. He looks menacing without being over-the-top.

Question: Why are we allowed to post bootleg images from SDCC on this forum, exactly? I wish it was that way on the TDKR forums... can't even post images from the prologue there, and that's far more public viewing.

Agreed. Having a Lizard that looked like a raptor would have not only made connors transformation into that less believable, it would have defeated the purpose of calling him Lizard.

I think the Lizard in this is perfect. His face reminds me alot of Macfarlane Lizard just that the brow and snout is slightly less pronounced.

Not really... he's far less reptile-like in the trailer, and his head is very human.

eh i thought it was good. im really digging how Spidey is going to be a wanted vigilante rather than a hero. reminds me of the original Batman films vs Chris Nolan's Batman. instead of being the hero like Spidey was in the first 3 films (or somewhat of a "hero" for Spider man and Spider-Man 2), hes seen as a vigilante. and, going back to the Lizard, instead of the colorful villain that the comics make him out to be, he seems much darker. if i didnt know any better, i'd say that Nolan himself was directing this film. :spidey:

Well the trailer is obviously going the Chris Nolan route--wanted by the cops, a dark lighting aesthetic, they even use the word "Begins"--but The Lizard is the definition of one of Spidey's colorful rogues. He's a giant green monster who wore purple pants in the comics. :oldrazz:

I don't miss the pants. I miss the lab coat though. Very much.

And this time, he'll be bumped up from 5 minutes screen time, to 10. :awesome:

No matter what , he still looks 100 times better then this

In all seriousness, I think the Lizard design in this movie missed the mark on the character almost as much as this did on the GG. After they got the look of Doc Ock, Sandman and Venom down so well, I'm disappointed they fumbled my fave baddie in this movie.

The Lizard in TASM does look like Killer Croc but in turn Killer Croc is a ripoff of the Lizard so.......

Poop in your face.

To each his own but I rather like the look of the Lizard. I don't think it's fair to compare him to the power ranger GG.

The Lizard looks like The Lizard from the Comics.

Stop complaing because he doesn't look like a raptor or an alligator. THOSE AREN'T LIZARDS!

Really DA? I dont think we need to discuss Venom in here, I dont know if you watched the same SM3 as I did but Venom did not look like the comic counterpart at all, if anything it was a bastardized version.

You like the new Spider-Man outfit that is not comic accurate but love this Lizard because he was a Romita drawing? That makes no sense. There have been many iterations of all the villains over the years. Bendis made a Hulk Goblin but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck and no one can complain that it sucks. This Lizard sucks and I do not like that Romita representation either. His head looks exactly like Thing from F4. One thing that had never really changed much over the years is Spidey's outfit....aside from all the special suits or AU.

My favourite Spidey villain.

Let's just hope that if and when he's used we don't even need to discuss so much about his appearance just like we are with the Lizard here, sugarcoating and defending the design as such, trying to make the best of it.

I'd much rather it simply looks badass and close to the popular menacing design, so we'll all just go "it's awesome" and leave it at that. Just like most people have already accepted that Spider-Man himself here looks great, or are at least satisfied. It's just the opposite with the Lizard that most of us aren't satisfied with the look.

Agree as well. If he had a long dinosaurish snout, he would look like a muppet when talking, assuming he talks.

Buddy, if you're going to attempt to be ironically sarcastic, at least know what you're replying to; that I'm referring to a cartoon series and not a comic arc of the same name.

Either way, since you made it apparent that you're nothing more than a spastic troll you won't warrant any more of my attention.

by the way, that purple fish still looks better than a half-assed Hulk with a tail!

Oh, god....you simple minded-fellow, you don't know, do you?

Ultimate Spider-Man will mostly be based on the Ultimate comics and we WILL be getting Ultimate versions of the villains.

I feel sorry for you, now.
