That's why I'd rather, if anything, we see the villains first that builds up to the Sinister Six, not seeing the villains randomly put together.
That idea itself doesn't give me hope. At least Raimi did the smarter thing with using Venom in the same movie. Most villains could have this masterful plan thought of while Venom just wants vengeance because of the symbiote. One battle between the three would just be enough, imo.
After all, he'd feel like a watered-down Bane after TDKR is released.
I second this.Of course, the story would be more personal with Venom. He isn't your Magneto or Dr. Doom. He wants just one thing, to make your life hell and end you. I think a Movie with Venom as the main villain could work really well. He wouldn't just have one fight with Spidey and it's done. Heck, he'd beat him and just let him go. At first. This is the guy who knows every little secret and every tiny detail of Spidey's life. He would terrorize Spider-Man, till he's on the brink of a nervous breakdown. He'd let him know that he could gut Aunt May or Mary Jane/Gwen, whenever he's in the mood. And since his Spider-sense wouldn't work on the Symbiote, he'd be constantly looking over his shoulders.
You could make a fantastic thriller type movie. Maybe even throw in a minor villain or two, that easily get beaten or killed by Venom, for him to show off to Spider-Man how superior he is. He could rile the city up against Spider-Man once more, by doing crimes in the name of Spider-Man.
There's just so much potential with Venom.
I don't see any potential in a movie solely on Venom, still don't even with reading what you had to say, Nathan. After all, he'd feel like a watered-down Bane after TDKR is released.
Bane knowing Batman is Bruce, knowing about the ones he cares for, such as Alfred, hurting Batman and not killing him.

lol You mean Bane?
Considering Venom was all that and did all that before Bane was even a thought in his creators mind, again
Venom > Bane

Venom > Bane
Just sayin', Magneto is motivated by very personal reasons.
Raimi's third would have been good had he gotten rid of Sandman completely and spent all the annoying emo-Parker plot time developing both Venom and the second Green Goblin; both of whom seek personal revenge on Spidey. I wouldn't mind Brock and Harry sharing a film if it were done correctly as there are very parallel villain themes.
That silly Parker nonsense, would have been time definitely better spend focusing on Harry and Brock. I wouldn't mind if they'd try it again with Webb at the helm.
All that? All what? A villain that has never done anything to really harm Peter or his life? Bane is a masterful and intelligent villain that HAS done something to Batman as Green Goblin and Doc Ock has done to Spider-Man.
Bane > Venom. We're not talking about who came first, chicken or egg, but what villain has been much more of an impact and comparing the two, the winner is Bane.
Oops, sorry! You must not get that joke. Ask anyone around here. They'll explain it.
The Lizard kinda reminds me of the classic Universal Monsters of the 1930's and 1940's
While that certainly could be the case for some people, it is also just as possible that some people (myself included) don't like this design based on the design its self, and that opinion has nothing to do with comparing it to other interpretations.Ok, to get back to topic, the plain and simple truth about the Lizard's looks is that it's a fantastic adaptation of the Ditko look.
Most people are looking at the Macfarlane and onward look as the main/only look and that the look in this movie is a bad adaptation of that, which its not because, its not an adaptation of that.
