The Amazing Spider-Man Lizard's New Look: Verdict?--POLL

What did you think of his appearance?

  • PERFECT! It's the character come to life!

  • THAT'S the Lizard?! Mini-godzilla without the coat?

  • Can't tell yet. He wasn't in the trailer enough.

  • Where's Venom?!

  • It seems ok.

Okay, just quickly saying...I think that Lizard design is okay. I don't either love or hate it. The only thing I hate about the design is his month and nose....like everyone have said...they look too human.

At same time, I personally kinda want to see a small fin on the back of Lizard.

General design?? Just because they both happen to be based off of a reptile, doesn't mean they are similar. The only common features are the fact that they have scales and they have a bald head. I suppose that if we're talking about general design then these two would be very similar.

They both fly in space and are grey. Therefore they are the same.

Sorry, but that is a pretty terrible exaggeration.

Minus the color, this is ASM's Lizard....except this is a pic of Killer Croc.

I think the design is awful. No character or personality to it at all.

It has more character and personality than a walking dinosaur.

IMO, of course.

So I saw this poster for TASM for the first time the other day:

Man, I've wanted to see the Lizard in a movie since I was a kid. That is a bigger letdown to me than anything SM3. Oh well.

It's one thing to be let down by a design if it's not what you preferred, but the film hasn't come out yet, so you can't be let down, imo, by the entirety of Lizard.

I mean, I was very much into the looks of Sandman and Venom(even if I had some nitpicks to Venom), but I was more let down by the film itself.

Lizard may look bad to some, but, he may also be freaking amazing in the movie. It's far better than liking the looks of the villains and then they turn out to be crap in the movie itself, such as in S-M 3.

I have a very strong idea of how the Lizard should look. As my favorite villain growing up, I always looked forward to seeing him in a movie. Unfortunately, I don't see much at all of the character from the comics in that picture save for the tail. Otherwise, it looks nothing like the character.

That is a major letdown. Much moreso than SM3 which, to me, is not nearly the "worst movie ever" fans make it out to be.

I...don't hate it. I just need to see him more clearly in action.

I feel exactly the same, ever since Spider-Man first came out in 2002, I have wanted to see the Lizard on screen, now I am not anticipating it at all. The character in the movie may be okay, but the design is awful in my eyes.

Nobody a year ago would have picked that over anything dinosaur-esque as you put it. Everyone in the lizard thread wanted a sharp toothed snarling monster.

This is the same as the GG suit from SM1. Horrible design but it worked in the movie so this may work in the movie, who knows. But, it could have been so much better.

I feel for the Lizard fans out there, I really do. My favorite villain was always Dr. Octopus and I would have pissed had he turned out like this. Fortunately, he ended up being the best villain of the series instead.

The Green Goblin suit was bad, but I didn't even hate it as much mainly because the Goblin was always more about his performance than his look whereas the Lizard kind of needs to look like a lizard to make any sense. It would be like doing Rhino and not giving him a horn or doing Scorpion and not giving him a tail.

Might not be perfect, but I like classics, and this is a nice nod to the original appearance of the lizard. Who knows, maybe over time (in a future movie) if he returns the reptilian dna will take over more of connors' physiology and he'll look even more lizard like after another transformation. Never can tell....

but much like Captain America's suit, I think it'll come off better in the full length film, than he will in stills and trailers. Although I have paid less attention to this movie due to the avengers hype, I am excited for this film and I think it will be a solid fresh start for the web-slinger.

That's not really what I'm talking about though. I mean, Lizard may change your ideas in the movie itself that just what you see on promo art or a poster. Like I said, I liked the looks of Sandman and Venom, but hated the way they were in that film.

After reading the ASM excerpt in EW, I'm calling it right now that Dr. Conners is going to be evil in this movie. Not at the beginning, but by the end of the film he is going to be completely 100% bad and is going to die (kind of like Norman Osborn in Raimi's original film).

Calling it right now.

That or the formula is ****ing with his mind and he loses control of himsellf and the Lizard persona starts consuming. And I'm sure he doesnt die. After all, he's in the game. It would be stupid if they included a character who died strangely be back. I mean, the game is technically the build up to the sequel.

Actually, it looks very much like the character, just not the version you love and have become accustomed too.

The design in TASM is based on how The Lizard looked when he first debuted in the comics and his facial features were human, with some differences.

Most people would have preferred something like the Todd McFarlane design or the glorified croc/alligator/lizard amalgam look he's had in the recent books and I respect that, to each his own.

However, don't say they ruined the character or it looks nothing like him when it actually DOES.

Lizard actually looks more like his comic counterpart that Spidey does in many ways, and that's saying something considering the changes that were made to Spidey's suit.

Best advice I can give is to wait and go see the movie. As Anno Domini said, just because the character may look bad, doesn't mean he won't be great in the movie and, according to those who've seen the "Untold Story Begins" screening footage, the Lizard does look pretty good in action.

With TASM, I think patience is the key factor. We haven't seen much so we have to just be patient and, depending on what we get between now and when the movie releases, withhold judgement until we see the film.

The video game isn't going to influence the movie or it's sequel. It's a quick cash-in, you need to have the Lizard in there somewhere though since he's the villian of the movie. Comic book movies are way too notorious for killing off the villian.
