Logan Logan - news & discussion - Part 1

Glad to now I am not the only one who can't stop watching the trailer though. It's very rare I do that with a trailer these days, but this one I just can't get out of my head.

I'm pretty sure the techno-organic virus baby cable got was deadly. They could sense his vitals fading and they chose to send him to the future because they had no other hope to save him.

he was a baby; there's a good chance he might not have survived the process. His vitals faded bc the virus was stopping replication of his cells and turning it into machine. He wouldnt be killed but would be irrevocably changed forever for the worst and become a danger to everyone around him. The Technarch were not a malevolent race; Warlock was the only exception

Besides none of them had any experience with the Technarchy to understand it. They were only around Warlock briefly. Even if they knew it might turn him into a Technarch, its not something anyone would have wanted.

Loose adaptation of the idea though. Mutants are the ones that have been killed so it has to be something that kills massive numbers. Like a virus. We know they are introducing Cable so leaving him with a metal arm instead of tying it to Wolverine would be a huge miss.
They really dont need to give Cable a complicated reason for the arm. He can always mention that it was lost in battle. I dont see Cable being in this movie in anything more than a post credit scene

I believe it'll have attributes of the Technoide Virus, but believe it'll be much more Legacy Virus with the plague's use in the story. I just feel the Technarch might have licensing problems, or at the very least it's alien and that'd be awkward in this world. Like Phoenix Force being watered down, and the Shi'ar nowhere to be found in X3. Or Apocalypse lacking his origins of alien tech.
I dont see why there would be any licensing issue. The Technarch are 100% an X-Men thing. Marvel doesnt have the rights to all alien races. Like the Brood, they would fall under Fox's agreement

The last time i repeatedly watched a trailer so many times was with TDK. Just hope it is a good send off which holds with time unlike so many other comic movies.

BTW that shot of logan burying xavier at the end, the opening shot of logan's hand shaking is from the same place. And surely laura comes forward to hold the same hand as a sign of reassurance to logan that there is still something to cherish and fight for.

Yeah, I watched this trailer like 1000000 times already too, it was so good. And yeah, I can't remember when I've watched a trailer so many times either. Please, Logan, don't suck. Don't screw this up, Fox. PLEASE. Jesus.

I don't want to expect something big because I've been disappointed with soooooooo many films that I was euphoric about. But, I'm saying this and I mean it, Logan has the potential to become the most complex X-Men movie ever made. We just have to see if it will happen. Fingers crossed.

P.S. Imagine what conclusion of the whole X-Men franchise this would be if the movie would prove to be good.

It's great that beside the main cast, we didn't see other announced characters, like Richard E. Grant or Elise Neal.

The Reavers ,possibly Mr Sinister, dark tone, ultra violent ,Rated R hell yeah im IN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't tell how many times I've watched this today. There's something about this trailer that feels like a proper film. I haven't felt that since TDK.

I have to say I agree (well for me The Dark Knight Rises, but still...). There is something very honest about this where it doesn't have the sensation of studio branding committees. I hope the actual finished film lives up to that promise.

A friend of mine says this looks like it'll be what he's always wanted CBMs to be.
To him this doesn't look like its a superhero movie. And in fact it isnt even trying to transcend the genre of superhero.

What it is, is a movie featuring superheroes that it isn't being treated as a superhero movie.

BVS tried, unsuccessfully, to transcend the genre I think. This isn't doing that, IMO a lot like TDK, its a different kind of movie with superheroes in it.

We all know how that went with TDK, whether or not we think its overrated(I do) its an immensely popular movie and folk still talk about it.

I think this is intended to be much more emotional/personal than TDK (which relied heavily on its political allegories like BvS attempted).

I totally agree. TDK is just the only movie that does what my friend(and now myself) see happening here.

I can tell I'm going to have mixed feelings about this movie...

man can't stop watching this initially didn't like that DOFP ending was nullified but on repeat viewings I can't wait to see it

I hope it turns out great hate for it to disappoint

rip x-men :'( <3

TDK had overt comic book elements though. This one (so far) seems like it's playing completely straight.

i suspect you won't see any mutants with any powers that fire anything effects like optic blasts from their body, it will be grounded to mind or physical fighting.

thats what the last one should of been like instead of mech samurai lol

This film seems to be drawing plenty from its comic book sources though. Pierce is a cyborg, X-23 is a clone of Logan, the Reavers have probably been fused with the Adamantium Men and are now genetically enhanced to be like the mutants from the Weapon X program (or have cybernetic enhancements), Caliban is tall, pale and lanky as he should be, the New Mexico setting is probably meant to channel the outback from X-Men #251 etc.

I do agree that it's not trying to transcend the genre, but has finally embraced it with open arms (probably because Fox isn't trying to interfere with Mangold's vision and has learned since DOFP onward) and really is trying to be faithful to the nature of those solo adventures from Wolverine.

Also I'm pretty sure we can see Richard E. Grant in that split second where it looks like Laura is jumping off a building near the end of the trailer. Elise O'Neal is probably Kimura which is why we haven't seen her yet.

By overt comic book elements I meant in an aesthetic sense. If you didn't know any better, you wouldn't assume it's a comic book movie until about 3/4ths of the way in. Or possibly never. TDK can still be recognized as a comic book movie.

Well it kinda was that as silver samurai was just a robotic suit

I think that was less plausible than having the Samurai be a mutant like in the comics. We know that there are mutants in this world. Wolverine IS one. We had never seen Mechs prior to this film.

The trailer is so emotional though. I really wasn't keeping up with this movie that much, but man... I'm so psyched for it now.

So, in the first shot of the trailer, we see Logan's blood-covered, shaking hand while Xavier says 'Logan, what did you do?'

I initially thought his hand was shaking because he's old/injured, but looking at it again, I realized he could also be mortified by whatever it is he just did.
Whatever it is that left that blood on his hands.

Could it be that Logan, like in the Old Man Logan comic books,
killed the X-Men?
I know some people think it would be too dark for this movie, but this shot did make me wonder again.
