That's pretty much how it is. You're getting anal over the continuity, but people don't go to the movies for that. They go to see a good film first and foremost, everything else is background noise.

I am approaching logan as stand alone film for jackman as wolverine and stewart as xavier fans.

if new timeline doesn't want to treat mutants as they should be I can just
view Original trilogy,The wolverine, and DOFP as the X-Men saga

Even though Im beyond hyped for this, I now worry that this movie's story will kinda kill the buzz upon rewatches of Dofp or any of the past films for that matter. I feel like there has to be more to it and theyre not "Terminator 3" -ing DoFP.

Part of me feels like this shod have been set in the far future where Logan naturally outlives his Xmen bretheren and hea torally alone. I think that would've added a lot of weight to the fact that this guy's "gift" is a curse because he is destined to be alone since he cannot age and ages very slowly.

Jackman's final film as wolverine should have been a full X-Men film.not a old man logan/death of wolverine inspired film or not a deadpool film.

While i think other X-Men may be in hiding
due to east coast incident
DOFP impact will be hurt by logan especilly if both Xavier and wolverine die onscreen.

I am honestly confused that people thought there was a chance of the happy future of Days of Future Past being a permanent happy ending. These are mutants we are talking about for crying out loud. They never ever really get a break. That is kinda their thing. Heck even Bryan originally wanted to make to make the 'Happy Future' more trippy with effects so that people realized it wasn't a permanent thing.

My fear is X-23 gets stuck in the crap 2029 future.

(I don't want to hear the stupid cable rescue time travel theory)

very doudtful based on what mangold is saying there will be return of X-23.
and any X-force film will be deadpool & X-force film so pass.

while I will see logan for jackman & Stewart a part of me feels they just should have quit with DOFP.New timeline just isn't coming off well to old timer fan like me.

But thats a BIG reason why the fans joyously praised the movie. It was a "mea culpa" for the crappy, grim way that X3 left the Xmen. Logan is sure to be a far far better film than X3 but man, even if the films a mastsrpiece, thats a grim way to end the near 20 year Bryan Singer Xmen era.

well if that doesn't happen then what was point of DOFP in first place.

many people here say i was wrong in calling DOFP a reboot.if the future ending isn't even canon then it was even more of a reboot than i said.

the original cast films are being erased for first class cast who isn't even that
popular.unfortuly while past X_Men films will contunie the franchise is heavily deadpool centric.heck there isn't talk of jackman in actual X-Men film but in a deadpool film if he breaks logan last time vow.

they don't seem to have any problems with turning mutants into celebrated characters in attempt to move franchise into more MCU like.

if DOFP future ending is ilrelvent so is logan not a surprise they would that however since they were planing to undo events of the wolverine while the wolverine was filming.

First Class wasn't as successful so they needed a OT boost. Pretty obvious

That was why they made DOFP.but what is point of erasing original films, you know the X_Men films that appealed to GA,if you ignore future ending.that is a big FU to original trilogy and fans and for what.the first Class cast which couldn't sustain intrest in following film.

For oldtimer like me it's one thing if they do another trilogy without wolverine but it's another thing to lose what makes X-men unique.

at least with jackman there was things to like about him as wolverine.i see
nothing to like about lawrence as mystique.and as one who never picked up a deadpool solo comic in my life.yes i have new mutants,X-force,and wolverine comics he guested in but i defently am not down with him being new wolverine or fox's version of stark.

The entire creative team behind the various films are losing sight of what makes X-men unquie and special.

This could also be a passing of the torch to Laura. Logan raises her to become a relatively normal badass mutant and she's Wolverine going forward.

Doubt it. FoX didn't even know the character existed when Mangold asked to use her.

Obviously since FoX is reactionary we'll get more of her like we will of Quicksilver & Negasonic

I'm not worried about the crappy future we see for the x-men in this film. Maybe like they said, time is like a river. Yes they averted the horrible sentinel future in DOFP, but perhaps a crappy future is inevitable.

Its happened in the comics too. They try to change the future, only to have a different, bad future take its place.

I think some of us are just worried that this'll cast a somewhat tragic shadow over the prior films now. We'll know what these characters' ultimate fates are so it kind of now makes the past movies bittersweet. I mean, look, if Logan ends up being a masterpiece of a film, I'll get over it, but it still makes it a grim way to bookend the series.

I wonder if that's the head of the dude trying to lock her up.

Because the next shot in the trailer was this

That will make it worse.especilly if you have reboot in MCU.

the mutants as celebrated heroes already screams of them trying to imate MCU.In july they are coming out with first spider-man film i have no desire to see.at least logan makes me want to see it:cwink:

A lot of folks thought the same thing in regards to The Force Awakens.

Orson Welles said "If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story". Everything ends badly.

Yeah I don't like that aspect
for 50 years the X-Men's slogan has been "sworn to protect a world that hates and fears them"
so making the world love them kind of completely misses the point

I disagree. That slogan of theirs has led to a dark future where Sentinels are hunting and killing every mutant on earth. This shows the X-men that all their efforts to protect mankind were for nothing and Magneto was right the entire time about humans never accepting mutants. Making the world love mutants has always been Xavier's dream goal and with Kitty's time traveling magic, Xavier has now made his dream into a reality.

I just thought of a few ways they could get Wolverine in the yellow and blue costume that won't feel too corny or forced.

1) Wolverine has a brief flashback to the glory days of his colorful costume escapades. Like literally a 2-3 second flash of him posing, then another one of him attacking something.

2) X23 can have a dream sequence where she imagines a "fantasized" version of Wolverine where he goes full 90's with the classic costume and dialogue. It won't feel too out of place if it's a dream, and it will stay in context with the character, as she's already a X-men fan girl.

Probably won't happen, but a man can dream.

Love that idea. #2.

I wish showing us an actual flashback of what's happened between the years 2024 and 2029 with Logan in the suit would work. The more I think about it though, the more I can't picture Hugh in the suit. One way or another though, I hope to see it done in some way possible.

The thing is though, Singer kind of reinvented the X-Men franchise in a realistic way, made them the same characters we know them to be from the comics and animated series, but in a serious, more grounded way. And it did work. We were able to accept Wolverine and the other characters without the costume and as the definitive look for the film. Like that's how you would translate it to film. No mask or yellow spandex but it's the exact character(s) straight out of the comic. Well, almost.

In Nolan's gritty, realistic Batman world (I don't find all of it realistic though) Bane came out straight from the comic pages and animated series despite not having the classic suit. I wouldn't have wanted to see him wear the mask anyways. I thought Bane was printed well on film.

Maybe if we do get a glimpse of Hugh in the classic costume, maybe they need to use white covers over the eyes.

Anyone want to bet we are going to get inundated with fathers and daughters cosplaying as Logan and X-23 this year?

I hope we get grandfathers dressing up as Charles too. Either way, X-23 is gonna have people dressing up as her like Eleven during Halloween and cons.
