Because the vfx crew and vfx direction make the difference.
Green Lantern costs more than Apocalypse.
Star Trek '09, Star Trek Beyond, GOTG cost less than Apocalypse.
Dr Strange costs less than Apocalypse.

The upcoming Valerian is only $2 mil more than Apocalypse.

So...write them out or give them smaller parts...

Yah like that would happen? Fox wants Fassbender and the future Gotg actress in the film.

And you are wrong about Gotg. It cost more than 200 million.

Smaller parts?
It is what it is if they end up with more screentime.

I concede to that one then.
My point still stands with the rest.
Heck, they have Tim Miller, so they can refer to him on how to tighten the budget for a space fantasy.

Eh. Its not like this is being handled by a different studio. For some reason X-Men team movies are expensive even if they don't look that extravagant. You want Star Wars qualityVfx and scale for Supernova, that would require more than 178 million.

Yeah, it's the same studio that's given us the Apes reboot.
X-Men have superpowers. TLS has the most amount of mutants, thus it has the highest budget so far.
You certainly don't need to put so many resources into a single side character's power display.

I don't actually.
Maybe Star Wars quality if we're talking replicating techniques of the OT as another homage, since those would be cheap blockbusters in today's day and age, even with factoring in inflation.

And having the Shiar empire isn't a lot? So what how many new characters or canon fodder are you expecting? We already got nine possible returning characters (all mutants) that is already a lot.

It is so easy to say to just hire the Vfx team of Apes... But they even didn't do that in Apocalypse, why it would suddenly be different now for a sequel of an underperforming film. Anyway, you get Apes vfx team, there would still be a budget raise.

As many as necessary to do a good movie.

Heck of a lot less than TLS.

I was supporting your point that this is the same studio. Hire whoever they like in-house to get the job done and stay within whatever projected budget they so choose. My other point was that under $200 mil fantasies is neither a new feat for Fox nor Hollywood.
For a movie that underperformed, Apocalypse is still the second highest 2016 grosser for Fox. They certainly made more than enough from Deadpool to invest in other things.

Apocalypse cost around 178 million and the vfx was bad. What makes you think it would be different this time by not raising the budget especially space films would surely require more green screen?

Well thats fox's issue because there have been films with lesser budgets that have had more spectacle on screen so they obviously need to figure out how they are spending so much on effects.

Either way if they do go into space i am expecting a certain amount of the film to be set on earth anyway, you can't just jump into a space story from the start of the film

So was that Wolverine scene in Apocalypse meant to be set-up for this movie? I mean with Rice's backstory and all.

They collect his DNA, and this film features X-23 so I would assume so.

Jesus, I get it was bad at times(Quicksilver looked as real as Spider-Man in Civil War for a second as he was beating on Apocalypse) but the majority of them in the film were decent.

Let me ask a question.

What is Supernova?

another X_men film titled X-men:Supernova is on production website to go into production in may.this isn't new mutants since Film entitled X-Men:New mutants is on schedule for april shoot apart from this.

I hope that the rumours aren't true. Fox doesn't need to rush out another X-Men film just yet. They should just focus on other things such as Deadpool 2, New Mutants, X-Force, etc.

i disagree.plus X-force may not be coming till after Deadpool 3 is you want to call Deadpool part of X-men franchise.

supernova isn't stoping any of other films.new mutants and deadpool 2 ar eboth likely coming in 2018.

since deadpool writers saying deadpool is in it's own universe and saying they want to establish ind eadpool 2 a consent sillier tone for X-force i don't even view deadpool films as part of X-men franchise. That is even worse than the runaround on is legion part of X-men franchise or not.I am always more intrested in films with core X-men characters than spin-off films especilly since i never picked up any deadpool solo comics in my life.now i have comics from 1991-early 2000's of deadpool in new mutants,X-force and wolverine guest appearances. At least with new mutants i know the characters.

some prefer deadpool to X-Men.I don't.we will have to respectfully agree to disagree there.just like logan is my most anticapted comic book film of 2017 others may be more anticapting one of MCU films or DCEU films.

Good grief, that's gonna be a hard thing to deal with because Deadpool is very much part of the X-Men universe/franchise and it's gonna be establishing and building up the X-Men universe in the present day like crazy. As will New Mutants wherever it's set in. And Logan in 2029. And the inevitable sequel for the flagship. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's not happening.

I agree. I can't even begin to describe how done I am with the Jennifer Lawrence X-Men movies. Apocalypse was a complete disaster. Let it rest.

deadpool II & III and deadpool & X-force are happening rather every X-man fan likes it or not.The deadpool writers who reynolds is insisting write every film he is in as deadpool have said deadpool is different franchise from X-men and said deadpool exsists in own universe. They also said they are establishing sonsent sillier tone for X-force with Deadpool 2.that and first deadpool film is more than enough for me to say deadpool series should be viewed differently from X-Men.

Inless Gambit happens or X-men end up appearing on new tv show fox doesn't have plans for X-men in present day, flagship X-Men films as well as new mutants are in the past.

why.we don't even know if lawrence would return after her dising of X-men.
People also forget the reason why fox wants to focus on younger cast than original cast.they are cheaper.that is same reason why they focused on prequels after last stand.

I speak only for myself but as fan of X-men i don't want fox to end X-Men franchise with logan and only focus on deadpool franchise.

100th post!!

That is all.

Carry on.

I agree. After Logan, I am sad to say this but I feel like it should be all about spin offs now. Not even a film with the Ot cast pre-Logan events if the X-Men are really dead in 2029. Then after all the spin offs are released. Do a complete reboot with the main X-Men.

Thing about the spin offs is that they likely ain't being made to be one offs.

Where do I begin...

JL is a horrible actress that has no business being anywhere near an X-Men movie. Also, I hated everything about Apocalypse. From the actors, to the storyline, VFX, everything. Besides McAvoy and Fassbender, the casting and acting was down right horrendous. I do not want to see anymore movies with this cast. Period. I'm sorry if that upsets you.

Because The younger cast keep making X-Men films under perform at the box office. It's not their 100% fault but they don't appeal enough to the masses. Secondly, Dofp (and soon Logan with the X-Men possibly dead) just undermine further movies set in the past and they are not even doing a thing to fix that.
