Mad Max: Fury Road - Part 1

I think people are over thinking the use of the music in the second one. It just goes against the action, something that's been used in trailers and movies for decades. John Woo did all the time - a shoot out scene with peaceful classical music.

I wouldn't call that peaceful classical music. It's music that gets the blood pumping and i love the way the footage is edited.

Skip to about 1.44. It's a fantastic moment. The part with Max on one of those bendy pole things overlooking the carnage below.

the music makes the movie feel operatic. movie is stylized. but not like a superhero cartoon. it looks and feels unique.

i think with this music they are not trying to hide what the movie is.

I honestly wonder if that was ever even in the cards. In the story EW did on Fury Road, Miller made it sound like as soon as this project started coming together, they would need a new Max.

Miller said Gibson was too old for the role and I have to agree with him.

If your planning on continuing the franchise then a 60 year old lead in a role that is very physical isn't a good idea.

Miller, 69, originally hoped to bring Gibson back as Max Rockatansky for the fourth film. As he developed the story over the last decade, Miller hatched plans for a second trilogy instead of just the one new film. Concerned that Gibson wouldn't be able to commit to three more movies, he asked Tom Hardy, 36, to step into the road warrior's black leather boots.

"I have a great affection for Mel. I was really heartbroken to see him go into (the scandals)," Miller said in a recent interview. "But it's a new time. I hope Mel gets to act in more movies because I think he's a wonderful actor. But I think he's an amazingly good director."

It is also worth noting that during the last 15 years Miller has been trying to get Mad Max 4 made Mel was dealing issues in his private life like alcohol addiction, divorce, manic depression and splitting and his agent.

Gibson was actually the one to walk away from Mad Max when it was in development hell back in the early noughties.

Lmfao@ starting with it's soundtrack

There is nothing odd or risk taking with using music that people still drunkenly sing at a bar every weekend. I would understand if they were using like Can's music or 801's music but some of the biggest and most played out pop rock hits of all time? songs that have been used in sitcoms, movies and TV commercials for the past 30 years?

I'm sure there was a lot of oddress and risk taking with that movie but it certainly wasn't with the soundtrack

I was being sarcastic.
Outside of it being a supposed unknown property(as are allllot of other films made in hollywood), said film wasn't actually all that risky or out there. Just like the soundtrack, it's simply different yet claims 'weird' when it's really quite the opposite.

Yeah. I was gonna say. That soundtrack is made of HITS. And nothing about GOTG is that weird. It's a total Marvel movie.

Mad Max is a different beast.

Nothing about Mad Max is particularly weird in the modern pop culture landscape, particularly in video games. It more or less established many of the tropes now being recycled in the current wave of post-apocalyptic stories. It has been subsumed and rehashed in everything. Hell even Rugrats had an episode with a Road Warrior reference.

I definitely think it might look weirder (it looks big and crazy and I love it) to the general audience than something like GOTG which was sold as something safe from the Marvel brand.

Great trailer, but is this a reboot or a sequel? With all due respect to Tom Hardy, if this movie hadn't taken so long to make, I could've seen Mel Gibson being able to pull it off.
