Mad Max: Fury Road - Part 2

It's been projected to open to about $40 million right? I hope this pulls an American Sniper and doubles that. It really deserves it.

I think this would have benefited from opening during another season. Summer is cool, especially with this film's palette, but it may have owned fall, or really warmed up winter.
Not this winter obviously, given starwars/bvs(WB) but either of the prior winters given when this film supposedly wrapped.

My favorite tweets from people who didn't know that Mad Max (and its influence) preceded video games like 'Borderlands' by 30 some odd years. I'm not including the handlers for the tweets just to protect them. Some of them that I've seen are just innocent observations who were just too young to remember Max (Think about it, there hasn't been any real mercy for the franchise since the 80's. And there are no toys or statues either). But some other tweets are full of ignorance..but in a funny way.

Just saw a trailer and boy, Mad Max sure ripped off a lot of stuff from Borderlands. Hopefully Gearbox can sue!

I'm pretty convinced the makers of the new Mad Max really wanted to make a Borderlands movie, but couldn't get the rights.

I'd say about half the reason AS pulled that off was due to the Cameron effect. Weeks and weeks of having nothing big or substantial open up. I think JC is the man but, I'd love to see him pull that exact same thing he does with a mid may release.

Granted, the film could still have summer legs, as I'm sure you mean. I just feel the AS circumstance is...circumstantial. Here's hoping max has some of the best legs this summer.

After all, it is in prime position to pull an mcu effect and conveniently have every thing else post release suck or underwhelm. This summer is one giant red flag in that regard actually.

Being the only R movie around, may actually prove to be a draw for the people out there looking for something kick ass. The ones that prefer Blade if you will. And I doubt tmr will be hitting that spot.

Mad Max: Fury Road is a special film. It’s bombastically entertaining and action packed, but it doesn’t disregard emotion and story; and it’s a fitting follow-up that will make lovers of the Road Warrior giddy. But it’s also entirely accessible to those who have never even heard of the Mel Gibson-starring films. It’s a tremendous cinematic experience courtesy of George Miller, and a must-see.

Depending how work goes, mine might have to be a matinee. Which I'm okay with, but I kind of like having big crowds for big movies. Feels like something's missing otherwise. Hopefully I get a night time one.

Same here. Now that we have JL officially incoming and renewed interest in Miller, here's hoping that stuff finds its way out. The only thing I remember from the Batsuit is Hammer saying "carbon-fibre and pistons". And Catrona said the Supersuit was "very alien" or something.

Even though this one isn't as locally produced as its predecessors, it's really good to see an Australian heavy film making international headlines and garnering buzz again. It's been a long time since we've been able to claim some space in the global cinemas. I'm hoping this kickstarts things down here.
