Mad Max: Fury Road - Part 6

Yeah,I'm enjoying this though.I don't think it;s going to win the Globe or Oscar, but I'm just glad to see it getting nominated.

I don't think it will win, but I do think Miller is in with a genuine chance of a Director win. So many directors seem to love this movie. I could easily see a Best Picture/Best Director split.

A BP nomination and a BD win for Miller would be huge.

Unfortunately, I'm still reeling from the Academy giving the Oscar to Tom Hooper over David Fincher in 2010. So yeah. Not getting up any hopes.

The Directors Guild Awards should give us the answer.

I think there is a solid chance they may honor Miller for his technical achievements the same way they did with Alfonso Cuarón. Much as with Gravity, there is a feeling around Fury Road of "No one else could have made this."

I wonder how this will fare in the editing category.

I watched this on PPV today. I know this won't be popular, but I rate it 3 out of 10. This was the worst Mad Max movie.

Lawd.

3 out of ten for a movie that made Scorsese call up based Miller, and spoke to him about it for 2 hrs.

But you are entitled to yo wrong opinion tho. :cwink:

Thanks for not flaming me. I'm not trying to troll. I just didn't care for it. The action scenes and sand storm tornado were long and drawn out.

IMO, post production was poorly done with frames cut to increase the pacing. I realize that frames were cut in CA:TWS to make the fights more exciting, but for Mad Max it didn't work. It was too noticeable.

The villain was the weakest of the 4 movies. Mama's milk was sickening, and was the only reason I disliked the villain. I expected his death to be epic, but it was anticlimactic.

I felt that Furiosa was the star of the movie, not Max. Most of his lines in the first half of the movie were grunts. He was mostly irrelevant and could have been removed from the movie with just a few minor script changes.

A few more random complaints:
- Nick Holt's acting was lol
- Pole vaulting scenes were lol
- Guitar and drummers were lol
- blood transfusions that magically make two characters healthy... lol?

PS - I just saw the poll results and realized that I'm all alone. The movie has an overwhelmingly positive review here and on RT, so I'll shut my trap and leave it be.

I'd put this in the Top 10 films of the past 15 years, easily.

Lol

I'm sorry, but anyone who complains about Max being "irrelevant" to the films storyline has either never seen a Mad Max film before or misses the point of the character.

He wasn't irrelevant. He saves Furiosa as much as vice versa, and it's his plan at the end.

That was a fun read! Good Day, you.:pal:

Never said he was. I just should have said something to the effect of "they need to pay closer attention to the movie" instead, which would have communicated my point better.

Oh. It's just that I must have misread your post to have said that I implied that Max was irrelevant. Apologies either way.

You basically hated everything about the movie that was universally loved by everyone else haha. Did you like anything about the movie?

It had a good ending with Furiosa liberating the town.

I wonder what happened to Gas Town. Do the remnants of the gas town gang retain control, and do they still require mother's milk in exchange for fuel? Does Furiosa end up controlling Gas Town and Bullet Farm, since the gangs leaders have been defeated?

I guess you can leave that up to your imagination.
