Totally unaware of this movie. Now that I am, why do I feel as if I've gained no usable knowledge?

I get a strong sense that not all of what we're seeing is reality. Very curious now...

Teresa Palmer Joins 'Knight of Cups' - Exclusive

teresa-palmer-knights-of-cups.jpg

Teresa Palmer strolls with co-stars Christian Bale, Wes Bentley, and Isabel Lucas on the set of their upcoming movie Knight of Cups on Thursday (July 5) in Los Angeles.

Sources exclusively confirm to JustJared.com that the 26-year-old Aussie actress has joined the cast of Knight of Cups but her role in the film is staying hush-hush.

We can’t believe two of our favorite Aussie actresses are going to be in the same film together – Teresa and Isabel. Love it! If you missed them doing cartwheels on the beach together, check it out.

Knight of Cups, out next year, is the latest Terrence Malick film that also stars Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett, and Freida Pinto.

Another day, another picture, and another thing I don't understand.

No beach! :wow:

Take it with a grain of salt but this was posted by the guy running the All Things Shining blog over at IMDB:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2101383/board/flat/190670686

my contact says that the Bale character in spirit is very much like the gentle Private Witt and that the various women etc are utilized similarly to the character devices of Pilgrim's Progress invoking a journey of a sort. His character suffers a loss, I dont know if that is a physical loss, or spiritual, metaphysical etc.

I cant give to much away though it is on a different trajectory than just a Tarot card association, though it is spawned by such a reading.

This is the opposite of the untitled film that was formerly titled Lawless where Bale's character is a ruthless music producer and more of a womanizer opposite the gentle presence of Ryan Gosling's character.

The two films have nothing to do with each other.

Very interesting, kvz5. Thanks for posting. I guess only time will tell, but it does kinda make sense considering the pictures we've seen so far.

Christian Bale's trippy night out with Terrence Malick

The Dark Knight might need a little extra time to rise, as Christian Bale had a late one this weekend.

It's not the Soho House cavorting or Chateau Marmont bungalow-hopping one might imagine. Bale burned the midnight oil Friday at work on the mystery-shrouded new film from director Terrence Malick.

At Hollywood's Supperclub guests were greeted with posted notices from Dogwood Films, Malick's production company, informing them they'd be filmed upon entering the venue.

The Ministry was present and spotted Bale immediately. The actor was seated in a vintage electric chair, complete with a tin cap, surrounded by clubgoers rocking him back and forth on a raised platform.

It was as trippy as it sounds. Malick was a lone cameraman with only a lighting assistant by his side. Our brother blog Movies Now tells us the film in question, "Knight of Cups," follows a man reflecting on a series of relationships with beautiful women.

And beautiful women were certainly on hand at Supperclub. After his electric chair spin, Bale was tailed by Malick through the massive crowd.

Lingerie-clad dancers, in a cage suspended from the ceiling, played for his attention while one lucky blond got to bump and grind with Bale as patrons watched. At one point, a nearby table "made it rain," tossing a wad of cash over the entire scene.

We think Bruce Wayne would've felt at home. Director and star disappeared from the crowd close to 1 a.m. Hopefully Bale will get some beauty sleep — "The Dark Knight Rises" sees its Hollywood premiere on Monday.

The pic mentioned...

Christian Bale and Terrence Malick on a trippy night on the town: Why does this sound hilariously amazing?

Footage will be shown to buyers at Cannes.

Terrence Malick’s ‘Knight of Cups’ and Austin-Set Drama Will Premiere This Year

"Terrence Malick was always a phone call away. He was shooting his two pictures at the time, that’ll be released this year. He was most important in the beginning of the project, the origins of it, mostly through conversations, while we were editing The Tree of Life together..."

Joel Kinnaman on 'Knight Of Cups'

"I shot one day on 'Knight Of Cups,' and I had a 17-page monologue. And Christian Bale, who I was playing opposite—who had a lot of lines that would lead me into the next three pages—he hadn't seen his pages. So when we started shooting, he'd just walk off, and I'd be chasing him saying all this stuff, when he was actually the one who was supposed to be interested, and that's the reason that I was talking," Kinnaman explained. "And then into page nine of my monologue, I'd turn around and see Terry like a 150 yards away shooting some pink dog running around. It was indeed a very interesting experience. I have no idea what that film is."

Most of the reaction doesn't seem very positive.

It screened already? I've been following this and I haven't heard it test screen anywhere yet. I thought it's not yet finished...? Even Fremaux said that the reason it wasn't at Cannes was because Malick was still working on it.

Yeah, i thought this was moved to 2015, or at least that's what Isabel Lucas said in an interview last month: http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplayl...f-cups-says-film-will-be-out-in-2015-20140424

Over the past few months, some of the actors who stopped by the set of Terrence Malick's "Knight Of Cups" have shared their unique experiences working on the movie. Joel Kinnaman described having to deal with a seventeen-page monologue, Cate Blanchett called it a "quasi-religious" experience, Teresa Palmer talked about Malick's method of "torpedoing" the actors, and Antonio Banderas thinks he's made the final cut, though some of the material he doesn't even remember shooting. And now another actress reveals that she too has probably survived the editing process, but adds that we'll perhaps be waiting much longer to see the finished product.

Yesterday we ran into "Electric Slide" actress Isabel Lucas and her director on that film, Tristan Patterson, as they made their rounds at the Tribeca Film Festival. We couldn't help but ask what she had coming up next, partially because we were kind of curious if she was going to pop up in the next "Transformers" movie (remember when she was Shia LeBeouf's robotic dorm room seductress in "Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen"?) Instead, she gave us some details about her involvement in "Knight Of Cups," including a potential release date.

"I worked with Terrence Malick right before working with Tristan, two years ago," Lucas revealed. "So 'Knight of Cups' will be coming out next year."

When we joked that we hope she had made the cut, since you never know with Terrence Malick films, Lucas confirmed that she had communicated with the elusive director and that he had made it very clear that she was still in the movie. "He said I am definitely in the film." Patterson interjected: "She did ADR!"

As always you never really know until it's all put together, but you can probably count on Isabel Lucas definitely, probably, almost 100% being in "Knight of Cups." As for the release, it looks like Malick is taking his time and is in no particular hurry to get it out there, so shrug off thoughts of a festival premiere later this year and keep your eyes on 2015.

Whoa, Kinnaman is in this? Maybe I knew that and just forgot. It feels like this thing was filmed a decade ago.
