When did Jason Statham ever attempt an American accent? I don't recall ever seeing him do that. Or if I did, I guess he was so bad at it that I just assumed he was using his English accent.

In The One I think Statham was tyring to do a New Yorker type accent.

Really? I only saw a few clips of that movie and it looked so terrible that I never bothered watching it. I might have to check it out now just to laugh at Statham attempting that.

Bob Hoskins has tried to do an American accent before as well. He didn't sound good. I don't remember which movie it was though.

Some people, oddly enough, sound a bit strange in their real american accent and more natural in their fake british accent. Alexis Denisof comes to mind. His real accent almost sounds a bit too emphasised - he rolls his Rs a bit too much. Sendhil Ramamurthy (Heroes, Covert Affairs) is another one. His real american accent in Covert Affairs also sounds a bit overdone like someone imitating one.

I thought Bob Hoskins American accent was ok in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

Cockney actors struggle with American accents alot I think. Michael Caine's American accents can be a bit dodgy.

I think for a lot of non-american actors the two accents they try to nail are either the deep southern hick or the east coast NYC/Jersey guy. They're both ridiculously exaggerated in their vocals so it's easier to hide slips.

British people just find the american southern accents entertaining in general. People like the sounded of it and seems fun to do. Whenever you say to a British person to try and do an american accent the first one they will try in probably a southern one.

Then again, Jason still sounds Britsh only with a Trans-Alantic accent. It's like how Liam Neeson does an American accent he still sounds like a non-American.

Whenever you say to a British person to try and do an american accent the first one they will try in probably a southern one.

In Black Hawk Down, Ewan McGregor and Orlando Bloom both sound strange with American accents. The best is Jason Isaacs who....is doing a Southern accent.

Tom Hardy in Warrior. He talks very "Joisey" in that.

Albeit not as caricaturish as Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins (cringe).

Actually since it's a Guy Ritchie film, he might show up in some capacity. Though the Guy Ritchie regular I'd want the most is Mark Strong. Hopefully as a good guy.

LOS ANGELES—If “Man of Steel” and “The Lone Ranger” work together, what do you get? “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer, two of the hottest Hollywood male stars today, are teaming up in Guy Ritchie’s movie version of the classic 1960s spy TV series that starred Robert Vaughn and David McCallum as evil-fighting agents.
Armie plays David’s character, Illya Kuryakin, a Russian spy. Henry landed Robert’s role, Napoleon Solo, after Tom Cruise gave up the part due to a shooting-schedule conflict.
“I would have loved to work with Tom, but at the same time, I’m also excited to do it with Henry, because it adds a different twist to the movie,” Armie said in a recent interview in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
At the time of our interview, Armie said he has not met Henry or David. “I’m excited about meeting both of them,” said the great grandson of the late oil tycoon and art collector, Armand Hammer. “Hopefully, I’ll get to meet David while making the movie. We start shooting in August.”
“I’m also very excited about playing a Russian,” Armie added. “I’m in the middle of my research phase now. I’m studying the political climate during the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. It was a fascinating time globally. It’s such a great script (by Scott Z. British invade The Man from U.N.C.L.E

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. movie should be as American as apple pie and, with Steven Soderbergh, George Clooney and Tom Cruise all attached at various points, it was.
Now, the adaptation of the 1960s American TV show is looking decidedly British, with Guy Ritchie directing and Henry Cavill playing Napoleon Solo to Armie Hammer's Illya Kuryakin.
Surely you can't get more American than the stars of Man of Steel and The Lone Ranger right? Wrong. Cavill's actually a Brit from Jersey, and while Hammer is American, he was raised in another British isle, the Cayman Islands.
''We got a lot of BBC and British entertainment down there, Blackadder and all that stuff,'' Hammer says. ''I grew up on it.''

The actor has learnt to laugh about work on The Man from U.N.C.L.E. remake, because the project has seen him swapping partners like socks: ''As soon as I say Henry Cavill it'll be someone else.''
Cavill is committed though, looking forward to a change of pace from Man of Steel, particularly with the girls.
''Absolutely. Keep in mind the characters are so vastly different,'' he says.
''Napoleon Solo, he's a charmer, where Superman is the exact opposite - he's charming by nature but he's not someone who goes out there to charm people or women.''
Hammer may need that sense of humour before shooting begins in August, as last weekend's box-office figures definitely gave Cavill bragging rights, with Man of Steel's second weekend in Australia stronger than The Lone Ranger's opening, as the Johnny Depp western proved a flop around the world.

I like Armie Hammer and I understand signing on to a movie by the Pirates gang but having a big notorious flop like that on your record when you are still an up and comer is not great. I mean it's being brought up already. Yeesh. Oh well every actor's career has it's ups and downs.

U.N.C.L.E. movie budget cut, Variety says

The budget for a movie version of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was cut by Warner Bros., according to Variety, which didn’t provide any specifics.
The entertainment news site carried THIS STORY about actress Rose Byrne being in talks for a remake of Annie. There was this reference later:
Byrne is also in consideration for a role in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” but sources say the budget was cut on the film and it may have been hard to finalize a deal if an offer was presented to Byrne.
Production on U.N.C.L.E. has been reported to be gearing up in the U.K. but Warners hasn’t made an official announcement. Henry Cavill, who has said he’ll be playing Napoleon Solo in U.N.C.L.E., was at the big San Diego comic book convention last weekend, but didn’t mention U.N.C.L.E. The big Warner Bros. out of that event was the announcement of a Superman-Batman movie in 2015, with Cavill reprising his role as Superman.
Given a number of recent big-budget flops, such as The Lone Ranger (whose cast includes Armie Hammer, slated to play Illya Kuryakin) and R.I.P.D., some caution would be in order. Also, there have been executive changes at Warners. Perhaps The Man From U.N.C.L.E. curse hasn’t been lifted yet.
