Oh you.

^Sigh, he's so dreamy. I can't wait to see him as Superman again.

I think they took turns with her, just like with the photo. She doesn't look like she could take them together.

Why do get a feeling that we're going to get a train scene in this?

It wouldn't shock me either. I don't mind action scenes on trains, but for some reason I feel like we're going to get a scene similar to the one in the first M:I.

Well Cavill is playing the role Tom Cruise was going to play. Does that mean that Cavill is going to have to run a lot?

I'm glad Cavill is playing in this instead of Tom Cruise. It would've felt tired with Cruise and like he's taking over another 60s spy franchise, as if one weren't enough. Also there would've been too much of a mismatch between Cruise and Hammer with the height difference. It would've been like Hammer is some tall Russian killing machine and Cruise a small dynamo, and maybe more like that movie "Red Heat" (although there wasn't such a height difference between Schwarzenegger and Belushi but there was a mismatch in other departments).

Here at least with Cavill and Hammer, it's more like the original UNCLE tv series where they seem evenly matched and they don't have to play up the height difference.

Imagine if Cruise was still the lead. That Debicki babe would tower over him like she's on stilts. She made poor Tobey look like Frodo in The Great Gatsby.

Yep. I'm happy Cavill won this role. At least he has something outside of Superman.

Was she cast at the time of Cruise, or only after he left and Cavill came onboard? If the latter, then maybe she wouldn't have been cast alongside Cruise, but who knows?

At least this feels fresher with Cavill in it than Cruise.

Cavill didn't win per se. He was a replacement. He first auditioned for the Hammer role but lost the role to Hammer. Cruise was cast as lead.

But then Cruise chose to drop out to focus on MI:5 so Cavill was cast as replacement.

Yeah. I hope it's a good role for him and shows his versatility or at least displays a good bit of his charm. MOS showcased that to some extent, but of course he had to be kind of square because that's how Superman is. Hopefully this role will allow him to be more suave.

Really? He auditioned for Hammer's role initially? I hadn't heard that.

LOL, wouldn't Cavill have to dye his hair then if he was cast as Ilya?

And Cruise has committed some of the most awful height transgressions in Hollywood casting history. In his react film Jack Reacher, the character is described as 6'6, 250 pounds with a massive muscular build and very little body fat. Who did they cast? Tom Cruise! I mean for ****'s sake!

Yeah, I remember the outrage at the time. Still, I liked him in Jack Reacher. Although maybe I'd feel differently if I'd read the books, I don't know.

I read it someplace, I'll try to look for a source. Its possible he might have auditioned for the Cruise role itself and was runner-up and then was picked when Cruise chose to drop out.

Eitherways I'll look and see if I can find where I read that he auditioned for the Hammer role.

I know that Cavill was a replacement.

That would've been terrible with Cavill in the Kuryakin role. Would he have had to have bleached his hair blond? Hammer is far more suited to the role anyway, quite apart from the blond hair, so I'm glad he got it. And Cavill is far more suited to Solo than either Hammer (not that he was auditioning for it) or Cruise. When I think of Napolean Solo, I don't think of Cruise.

Cavill as Kuryakin is like having Chris Hemsworth as Loki and Tom Hiddleston as Thor.

Haha, well, Hiddleston did originally audition for Thor.

It's funny, I could definitely see Hiddleston playing a hero character rather than a villain, even though he's brilliant as Loki. He usually looks a lot more leading man-esque when he's not deathly pale and rockin' the long black hair.
