I'm kinda hoping if Christopher McQuarrie has an urge to do a non-MI film, a Superman sequel would be perfect. He loves working with Cavill and would likely have a pitch for a sequel that would get WB to put it on the fast-track.

If we do get Brainiac, I really hope they don't use the idea that he destroyed Krypton. I hate when a villain is revealed to have destroyed krypton or killed the Waynes etc, it's forced unnecessary drama which makes the story about revenge.

I've always preferred that the kryptonians are responsible for their own destruction.

I liked in the Brainiac arc how he was going to destroy Krytpon but because the planet was already dying he didn't waste his time.

I doubt it, Supergirl is literally at the script stage so I don't think it's a 100% certainty it will be out relatively soon anyway.

Although I could see the Superman solo maybe coming out after if Supergirl goes heavy into production. Although I could see Superman been a part of the Supergirl movie anyway.

I like Supergirl but ideally I would've liked her to be introduced in a Superman movie where Superman is still the focus and then later spin her off into her own movie.

I wanted her story to be explored in the context of Superman and what we already saw in MOS - the crashed ship Kal finds and the open pod etc.

In this scenario it would be a Supergirl movie where Superman would have a smaller role. They could make him integral to the plot and it would be cool to see them together, just that I hoped for MOS2 before all this.

You can do it the other way around with Superman in her film as a supporting character. Then integrate Supergirl into the Brainiac arc same was she was in the Geoff John's Brainiac arc/Superman Unbound.

If they do a Supergirl origin film they better use Superman in a supporting arc. It would be such a wasted opportunity not to.

See that's what I don't want to happen. I don't want Supergirl yo take the focus in a Superman movie, she can certainly play a great supporting role but not take the lead role. In her own film then that should be reversed with Superman taking the supporting role.

Although what if we got a full on titled Superman and Supergirl film. Then I'd be cool with a 50-50 split of the focus. Infact it lines up with something I said a while back about using Superman as a selling point in a team up films. I'd actually be cool with that.

I want a proper Superman solo without any other supers. So do a Brainiac story and feature the Bottle City of Kandor. Supergirl can be teased at the end of the film or be restored in time to join Superman in the final battle (sort of like Diana in BvS). But a full on co-lead? No, thanks.

I don't want Brainiac/Kandor done without Kara. Her witnessing Kandor's abduction, making Brainiac her own personal boogeyman is what finally made that little subplot interesting to me. I'm all for a Superman solo without another Super, but not that story.

With you on that! A Brainiac storyline is the absolute perfect place to introduce Kara

Cavills apparently asking for 20m lol! I’m sorry but that’s insane. Henry looks the part more than pretty much anyone but I’m convinced there are other actors that could embody the character more. Give someone else a chance if he’s not going to take what WB is willing to give.

I think Cavill could prove us all wrong if they finally give him some good material, but maybe it’s just time to let someone else have a go at it. Supergirl is the perfect place to introduce a new Superman actor.

Then that's why I want Supergirl's movie first. Cover that as a prelude, so she can just be supporting in a sequel. I don't want BvS all over again with another hero sucking a lot of the air out of what should be Clark's and Lois's story.

Yes, attempting to do any kind of Supergirl origin without Superman would be asinine. He is an essential part of shaping her new life on Earth.

And while I absolutely want Henry to stay as I think they'll be hard-pressed to find someone as well-suited to the role as him (he was my top choice for the role long before he was cast) and he's still in his prime and got many good years left where he could nail it...I think I am finally becoming open to the prospect and likelihood of them re-casting. Especially if any of these rumors about the contract negotiations are true.

I actually agree on Supergirl should be involved in the Brainiac story which is another reason I want the next solo Superman film to be a a Metroplois based story with Parasite & Metallo as the viallins with Lex pulling the strings. I think then you do Supergirl to introduce the girl of steel with Superman in a supporting role, not sure on who the villain would be, maybe Reign? Then do a Superman-Supergirl film where they take on Brainiac with a story like the Geoff John's Brainiac arc/Superman Unbound.

Whether Cavill ends up renewing his contract or not, I wonder if it is even possible for us to get a new superman film within 5 years from now.

Getting the right actor to play superman is already difficult. Plus, when you consider on all of the crap that previous Superman directors had to put up with before, I wouldn't be surprised if that would make a lot of good potentials hesitant/apprehensive in wanting to tackle the character.

Donner got fired from Superman 2 after delivering a critically and financially successful film in Superman 1.

Zack Snyder got fires from JL after the whole debacle with BvS and his work wad tarnished by Warner Bros.

So damned if you succeed and damned if you don't.

Setting up Brainiac in Supergirl's movie for his full involvement in MOS2 could be a way to go. But then it won't just be Superman in his sequel, but the opening up of that whole storyline of other Kryptonians with Supergirl and Kandor on Earth etc. (which I was hoping would be the third MOS movie.) It would be hard to make MOS2 after the Supergirl movie without factoring Supergirl and all that storyline, if that's what they use in Supergirl.

Donner got fired from Superman 2 after delivering a critically and financially successful film in Superman 1.

Donner was fired before the first movie hit screens. They filmed Superman 1 and 2 simultaneously and STM being the most expensive movie ever shot at the time was going to be more expensive if Donner kept flip flopping on ideas delaying production so the Salkinds fired him.

If they’d have done a more comic book accurate Death of Superman they could have done a Superboy movie and a Steel movie too.

You can do Steel whenever, and the same is true for Superboy. I don't really see them as solo movie worthy though.
