It's not that MoS didn't do well enough. They just want to do something that helps to establish their universe more than a solo Superman movie can, create a blockbuster than can compete with Avengers 2 in 2015, and introduce Batman in their new universe ahead of Justice League, while having a sequel to MoS. A World's Finest film accomplishes all of those things in one swoop.

I'm of the camp that believes that a Batman/Superman team up was the plan all along. I don't think this is in response to the BO of MOS. As much as WB wants a JL movie, this is a much smarter move. Just make sure we keep getting our solo movies.

I agree. This was WB's plan if this is coming out in 2015 no way they did a knee jerk response to "supposedly" lackluster BO Performance of MOS. They risk a huge fail if they rush it without a lot of pre planning. Afaiac They must have a pretty firm script already to be talking about it coming out in 2 years , thats if they really did commit to MOS 2 2015. If they did then My money is on a July 24th 2015 release date.

Wow I can't believe some fans are really complaining about this. We're finally getting a World's Finest movie and people are complaining. Jeez you really can't satisfy some people.

And now I think the Wayne satellite as well as the Luthor truck meant something in the movie. Doesn't seem like they pulled this out of thin air.

ive heard he got 50mil for the role and another 50mil when the avengers hit 1bil
so for his role in TA he got 100 mil

I'm fine with them naming it Man of Steel: World's Finest, or just going with Worlds Finest.

I'm a bit more partial to just World's Finest though because it's just simple, elegant, powerful.

In terms of actual storyline I want this to be more of a Superman continuation story rather than 50/50 split. Bruce will have his own movie eventually, but Batman fans had 7 years of three AWESOME movies, Superman fans deserve our character to be in the spotlight.

So I think they'll go with a 60/40 or 70/30 split in favor of Supes, and I'm fine with that.

This. Absolutely this.

With this announcement, those little easter eggs have more weight to them now. This has been in planning since I'm sure WB saw a pretty close to completed cut of the film.

I wouldn't mind them just foregoing calling this MoS all together. Goyer said he was contracted to write a trilogy, and he said that trilogy is MoS, MoS sequel, and Justice League. World's Finest is the MoS sequel, and Justice League is the third film. That's this Superman's trilogy. A ride through the DCU. Doesn't necessarily have to use his namesake for every film but he will be the main character in every film.

Exactly. This is a MoS sequel. If I'd wager a guess I'd say it will be a 60/40 split between the characters in terms of screen time and importance.

For all you Bat-Fanboys, you had 7 years of your guy getting awesome movies, and now he's invading OUR space. Don't be greedy, let us have our movie featuring Bats, instead of the other way around. We've waited a generation for this.

Batman will get his full solo treatment somewhere down the road (sooner rather than later), but this is Superman's time. Live in our world.

We are not getting a sequel.
Hopefully World's Finest will be successful enough to get them to do MOS2. It won't be the same anymore, you know what I mean, but I hope it happens.
