If Pacific Rim stays this flat for another week, wouldn't surprise me if they put Man of Steel back on IMAX.

I wouldn't be suprise either. I actually hope this happens so I can watch MOS again in IMAX :D. Also PR lost to GU2 again for Monday BO number. For it's first Monday $4,057,10 does not bold good for it's BO number... GA just isn't liking or interested in this movie. This is what happens when you target your movie for Fanyboy and not GA/All.

MOS has sold over 35 mill tickets.

Do they typically do that? I didn't know that they did. I kinda thought once a movie is off of IMAX, it doesn't go back unless they re-release it.

im all in for yhe re release gives mos the chance to show what it can do with all yhe competition out of the way im still that guys whos yelling a billion and if wb Can get it there or closer to it im still a happy person even if my prediction doesn't comes true but if it does even with a re release

i don't know about the formal Imax policy but i know our local imax has brought a movie back for some of the showings if the newest feature isn't doing well.

has that ever happened before? Wouldn't they want to milk PR for all its worth instead of trying to get a few more drops out juice out of MOS?

The only reason they would do it is to try and push MoS to $300M domestic. Cause PR is doing well in IMAX 3D but if they feel its a lost cause regardless....

TDKR grossed more. ;)
True. I was talking domestic only. Real hard to judge worldwide since the markets are expanding so rapidly. TDK and TDKR were not playing on an even field overseas. At least with domestic, we can follow some loose "rules".

When I went to see MoS last Friday, there were only 6 people in the theatre I was in.

That's very true.

A few weeks ago I became depressed from all the "failure" talk for MOS and I left. The reason I have come back is to ask for opinions on why you think this movie is doing so great OS. I remember hearing when SR came out that they tried to tone down or eliminate the Americanism of the movie; taking out The American way line. Then a few years ago in the comics Superman renounced his citizenship. But MOS is very American heavy. Did those involved with SR just misread the audience and thought foreign movie goers would be turned off?

I think the problem was more with SR's reception in the US, where is was seen as part of an anti-American trend in Hollywood. On the other hand, I think that the SR makes misunderstood feelings towards Americans. As long as your film is set in the US, and has its main characters as Americans you do not make it succeed by trying to distance it from that. People who hate the US are not going to love Superman just because he does not speak of "the American way".

Of course, MOS does not say "the American way", but Kal-el does tell Stanwick "I am as American as they come". I think thought the polticis had little to do with it.

Possibly a better way it worked was it embraced Clark as a Christian, and had some allusions to Jesus without going as overboard as SR did, and without having the super troubling Clark is a dead-beat Dad background that made the Jesus analogies just unbearable.

Still, the reasons MOS succeeded may have more to do with having exciting scenes than political/religious issues involved.

What are we looking at for the end of Sunday? $288m?

Very easy to get rid of Tobias.

When there is a drop off in box office numbers, he'll be the first one to show up, putting down the numbers and MOS in the process.

He'll then post his "predictions" which somehow always seem to exceed the actual current box office projections/numbers. In other words, his predictions are always rising, so that they can always be above the current projections/numbers, and also so he can have bate in putting down the box office numbers of MOS.

To get rid of him however, all you have to do is quote one of his earlier lower predictions, when he posts his current higher predictions. This is a perfect example in this case (Props to Migu-EL on this one);

Notice that we have not heard from him since? Lol...

Don't forget, Tobias is a massive Superman Fan, so as he always mentions, do not forget to read his fan stories at www.fanfiction.net/‎
