^ I'd believe that, but hell I enjoyed the hell out of MOS so I'm not "downing" the film at all.

Despite a weak third act....TW>MoS.

Not even close for me. The Wolverine is good. Some pretty AWESOME scenes in the movie but I couldn't get past the fact of we've felt like we've done it 1 million times over and feeling like the same 'ol, same 'ol.

I appreciate Man of Steel even more now because I walked out of Man of Steel with different emotions each of the 6 times I've watched it. I won't see The Wolverine twice in theaters, though it was good.

The Wolverine I walked out the same as I would with say, Despicable Me or any other movie I watched in the recent weeks. Man of Steel was different in MANY senses with that impact and it shows.:word:

Also, anyone else get a MAD headache in most of TW action scenes as you did MOS? I was surprised at that.

Watched Wolverine today...

definitely the worse movie so far this year for me.... almost fell asleep...

wished i had gone and watched MOS for the 5th time instead.

I was so disappointed, and needed my movie fix, so went and watch RED 2, right after... and I must say, RED 2 did not disappoint.. (not as good as RED), but still pretty good...

Really? I was pleasantly surprised with TW. I'd say it's my second favorite movie of the year so far (MOS is 1st).

I would definitely say that MOS was way better than The Wolverine, and I enjoyed The Wolverine. It just didn't have that epic feel like MOS in my opinion.

Just came back from watching the wolvarine, very nice film but like MOS suffered from a very forgettable 3rd act, but I think MOS was brave and fresh with it's storytelling (albeit flawed in it's execution) and it felt more rewarding when I left the cinema.

Not sure I'm gonna watch it. The trailer looks real bad and the last movie, WO sucks.

The Wolverine was based heavily on Japanese culture and traditions and differentiated itself through that. Man of Steel was far more closely knitted to the usual superhero tropes and storytelling. Although I will give it that it was more hard sci-fi than superhero.

When Thor comes out, look out for more MOS comparisons. Like it's the film to beat this year or something.

See post PRim reactions.

It'll be interesting to see how much of an "avenger's boost" it will get? whether it can out-gross MoS ww?

It won't.. unless it's an 'action comedy' which the GA just love.. like IM3...

I think the 'Avengers boost' is more myth than anything.. people like Ironman/Robert Downey...

People liked Ironman/Robert Downey for the previous two installments, and the worldwide box office grosses of the third film exceeded their combined grosses. Though it may fade for the next couple of entries in the MCU, the 'Avengers boost', in which moviegoers treated the third IM as a direct sequel to the third highest grossing film of all time, is very real.

Despite a weak third act....TW>MoS.

While I sure didn't 'love' MoS, I enjoyed it a tad more than TW(which itself is waaay better than the last Wolverine movie). At least MoS made a bit more sense over all than TW, although I'll say Jackman is in top form as Logan in TW in a way he's never been in any of the previous films and Cavill's Superman simply isn't at that level yet. But the writing is where that film let me down. MoS flows better and doesn't leave me scratching my head as much even if it is downbeat, dour and kinda depressing. I gave MoS a 6.5/10 and TW a 5.5/10.

ThorTDW will be the deciding factor in this. I personally believe in the Avengers boost. Though honestly it should be called the MCU boost as it's the shared universe that is it's own extra selling point in and of itself.

Thor 1 did 2/3 or MoS's numbers right from scratch all on it's own. I have little doubt Thor2 will beat MoS's numbers.

I was going with The Wolverine but the 3rd act sucked me out of the movie like a tractor beat, it's TERRIBLE.

What is it about superhero movie 3rd acts?
I was disappointed with the 3rd acts of;
ASM
BB
IM
MoS

The reason I list the above is because I was absolutely loving the first two acts and then 3rd act whilst not killing the movie for me (because of the first two acts) definitely made me take off a few points for the ending. Interesting that those 4 movies are origin movies.

Interesting that batman and ironman are only solo superhero movie to get a billion ww is it because they are the most grounded and realistic out of all of them. Think about it, they both don't have superpowers thus make them more relatable.

I bet Spiderman at some point might destory this theory.

If Spider-Man came out in 2012 rather than 2002 (i.e. first Spider-Man movie)
than it would have done a Billion. 400m domestic for a debut movie is INSANE.

Which film? MoS or Thor2?

The former.

As for the avengers boost, I don't see any other way to explain the huge revenue jump between IM installments. I think they're may have been some people thinking IM3 was the place to see what's next.

I'm also thinking what ever film(s) WB makes after Worlds Finest is going to experiences this same phenomena.

MoS is going to see a huge boost, no doubt about it.

Only if WF is really good.

WF is going to receive a boost regardless of quality. It's Superman and Batman in the same movie for the first time ever, curiosity alone will have the GA coming out in huge numbers.

Initially yes but if the movie isn't up to par it won't last.
