Anyway I wanted to point out that it's unfair to compare the Avengers to any film. That film is built on the solo movies before it. An idea 6 years or more in the making.

A movie comparable in almost every way to MOS is TASM. Approach is very similar, both with well known previous origins and both coming off terrible films.

Both movies did well for themselves.

They are pretty close, only Spidey wasn't coming off of the crap Superman was. Though he faced his own problems.
They've made about the same(one higher domestic, one higher intl). Though ASM has a higher budget I think.

More people were open because it was Spider Man. SR was worse than S3 so fans were very cautious about MOS.
