How exactly would releasing SR on Friday have helped it, that's taking 2 extra money making days from it. Also I have not seen IM3 but I've heard loud "this movie is crap" around the Internet. So 2 good movies can still give a less than stellar 3rd movie business.

IM3 a crap movie? It's the top 5 most successful money making movie!!! And it is still running in the cinemas! !!

Btw, what is the latest figure for MOS ?

I have not seen Im3 but I said I heard loud comments that it was crap. I never said it didn't make money, crap movies make money all the time; again I am not saying Ironman 3 is bad.

Vocal minority.

I think even WB acknowledged that in one of the press releases for the sequel. With them mentioning Brazil and Japan as being pretty much where any new money coming in will come from now, as it has yet to open or has just opened in those markets.

It's not bad unless you're a cbm purist. Always be your own judge. Don't be a sheep.

It's pretty dead domestically.

I think it's pretty dead OS as well. At least in my country, down to 1 show a day in big cinemas / multiple screens, but in most places, completely out...:csad:

Its better to accept it now than for people to keep thinking it was gonna hit $750M.

I thought it was horrible. It did make tons of money coming off Avengers but it was not very good

Still going quite strong in NZ.
I think it will end up with 290 domestic and about 360-370 OS for a total of 650-660 WW, not bad at all! I honestly thought this film was going to have a hard time cracking the 500 mill mark judging from the lukewarm response to SR but I guess superman still got some punch in him!

LOL! Even the sheep love superman!!!

With japan and the late release date there it's really hard to say, although I do know for a fact that superman is quite popular there (not as popular as spidy though!). SR did 11 mill in japan back in 2006 so I'd say MOS could do 15 mill or even up to 20 or might only do 10, hard to say!

To be honest they could just take MOS off all the theatres right now and it still wouldn't matter because it's a certified success! Biggest reboot domestically, 2nd biggest reboot WW and likely third highest grossing film of the summer in the USA. Mission accomplished!

You are being positive and accurate. Don't you know this is a Superman thread? You have to accentuate the negative and think that MOS is a terrible flop both financially and creatively. That's the rules. :oldrazz: :word:

Its better to accept it now than for people to keep thinking it was gonna hit $750M.

Spidey gets to keep the reboot record for another 2 years unless you don't count a rebooted character in a sequel (MoS: WF) a true reboot in which case Spidey gets to keep the record until Batman gets his solo reboot movie.

MoS still has the domestic record though so that's not too shabby.

That's a fantastic number especially for a reboot. What's annoying me is WBs are said to be disapointed by that number. They didn't really expect a billion did they? They should have known from Batman Begins that you lay your groundwork first and move from there. I do want SvB but I can't help thinking we've been robbed of a potentially huge MOS 2. But of course I'm psyched about Superman & Batman on screen together. Just the more think about the 2015 release date it makes me think they did it as a reaction to Avengers 2 and Star Wars. They want a piece of the pie.

I don't think a MoS 2 sans Batman is a guaranteed billion and WB was convinced it wasn't.

The only thing they should be disappointed in is their release date placement. They could have squeezed out a few extra millions had it not been released in a such a packed period. It should have had PR's release date.

LOL!! true that! Good ol hype boards never change and never will simply because fanboys never change and haters are gonna hate.

Don't worry spider-neil, WF most definitely does NOT count as a reboot especially since it will be seen as a semi-sequel to MOS, I think Spidey is going to keep that record (the WW one atleast, since he lost the domestic one to superman already) for quite a while! Especially if you consider than MOS is only reboot so far to come to even close to ASM's numbers. Even Critically lauded films like ST09 and BB didn't even come close while Casino royale (a critical and commerical hit) just barely missed out on the 600 mill mark. And I can't see any of the upcoming reboots (Godzilla, Fantastic 4, robocop) even coming close to what ASM or MOS have made.

Said by who? heresay by fanboys who have no clue on how reboots work, fanboys who think that a superman reboot should do billions because of the name superman while at the same time forgetting that Batman's reboot was a modest success.
The fact remains that it doesn't matter how famous a character is, reboots aim to establish faith in a franchise not break records (that's a job for superm...er sequels).
The fact that WB tapped the snyder/goyer team to bring their BIGGEST potential 2015 money maker speaks volumes about man of steel's success, even if 600 freaking million plus hasn't said enough already.

I never said it was but if they'd cast someone really good as Lex I think it would have made more than MOS. Its just funny how post Avengers anything that doesn't make near to a billion isn't considered a success. When something makes near 3 times its budget how can that not be considered good? WBs just have greed in their eyes. My only hope is that SvB is good and they don't hamper Clarks story too much.

By who? People like Jett of BOF and Sean Gerber of Modern Myth Media who know people in the industry and some quite closely. WBs evidently were expecting more but as someone said why didn't they release it in PR's date?
