Man of Steel Box Office Prediction Thread - - - - - - Part 15

I believe 3 Harry Potter movies ended up in the 290's. So did 2 Twilight films. Inception finished with 292.

BOM foreign total is accurate. They always update the overall total first because that's what they get. Then when individual numbers for countries come in they update those. So whatever changes in individual countries you see its just catching up to the overall total.

I agree that is the way it normally seems to work but in the past when I have watched the box office for a movie the posted amount is accurate but i haven't seen them update for specific dates for a country and not have them add it the total amount. Australia shows figure for the actual week ending August 11th. now maybe that is just the way they are updating it, but in the past they have just increased the amount for the previous dates.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems that they are adding new real amounts for to the individual country but not the overall foreign. Why else would they update the dates and actually show amounts for those dates? Wouldn't they just update he preexisting date?

Its probably just what the studios report to them. Maybe WB hasn't given them an overall updated total since 8/4 which is when it was last changed. But they are slowly getting numbesr for countries past that time. When its out in Japan you'll see a change.

any posters here from Japan?

Maybe WB is holding back some B.O. Receipts to add to the eventual Japan B.O. Hoping they can announce it has broken $700 million WW. Not likely I know, but stranger things have happened.

Does anybody know how is the b.o. in japan going?

It's gone 5 AM Sunday in Japan. I wonder how they do BO updates there? In the U.S. we'd have weekend estimates by now, or at least no later than 10 AM. By 'now' I mean by now on a Sunday.

The BO in Japan has intrigued me since I saw MOS. I don't think even the Japanese have seen the anime style ala DBZ brought to live action the way this movie did. I really hope that audience takes this film to heart. We gotta get those numbers soon!

OW in Japan might be around $2.6M but don't quote me on that.

Domestic: $290,327,998 44.2%
+ Foreign: $367,000,000 55.8%
= Worldwide: $657,327,998

So that's what? Like, $7mil OW for Japan?

$3.5M opening, with around $15M finish probably. The rest just came from other places when total was updated for the fist time in a month.

It's "not bad" considering Iron Man 3, as second sequel, coming off of a TA "only" opened up with 4.2, although it finished with 25. ASM opened with 7 + million. WB did do a lot of press in Japan, but I'll always wonder how the delay in release date cost them, and we will never truly know.

World War Z opened 3.4 in Japan. Iron Man 3 opened 4.2 but held on strong in its second week with 3.6.

3.5 seems about right.

Superman Returns is listed at 3.2 opening in Japan back in 2006.
