Routh is out according to Moviehole.net exclusive story.

Yeah we've known. Just because they're looking at a TV actor doesnt officially mean he's out, just makes it less likely for his return.

And let's stay away from the Welling ideals on this board ;) You can discuss him all you want in the Smallville threads.

They aren't looking for a TV star ONLY as an archetype for the role.

The line specifically refers to the guy they're currently only 'looking at'; Jon Hamm.

All types of actors will read for this.

LaraLane is a noob. She apparently doesn't know about the "tsunami" comments and the "groundswells" that have gained momentum on boards and news outlets across the web since!

Part of me just wants Routh back for the fear of WB casting someone i`m going to hate like any known actor.

Great catch! I love that the interviewer went straight for the Superman questions!

And wow, Routh really looked like Superman sitting there. And really...Winstead sitting there, I couldn't help thoughts of Lois from storming my mind.

I hope Routh has been contacted at least for a screen test.

Winstead is just so lovely, though I haven't seen her act in much, but she does look nice there with Brandon. Lois, eh? Hmm.. :woot:

Another great interview, wow, this guy is a massive Supes/Routh fan or what? :word:

Like people knew who Jay Towers was lmao. http://www.brandonrouthcom.blogspot.com/Brandon vs Scott Pilgrim MI TourThursday, August 05, 2010 | email Iris | follow br.c | comments [0]Brandon and SCOTT PILGRIM co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead were in Detroit to discuss the film with various newsoutlets.Listen: Jay Towers in the Morning (Radio)Watch: Fox2:Labels: Scott Pilgrim

I wouldn't call "Laralane" a 'she' just yet.

Something's up.

Trolls out from under the bridge.

Haha.

Sorry Welling.

I'd love Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Lois. She's been a popular choice for Lois on these boards for years.

She certainly has the stereotypical Lois voice.

The dude is massive! Currently, no one even touches Routh visully for the role. Seeing those two in those images really does give off a Superman and Lois Lane vibe.

I seriously might have to jump on the BRB bandwagon, even if I think it won't do anything.

He deserves consideration by the Nolan brothers at least.

And I'm willing to bet MeW would be universally liked as Lois. Fanboys seem to want her for everything and she's definitely a fan of the genre.

he's definitely got the look. just wish he had the talent. if he weren't missing that important aspect, i'd be all for him getting a 2nd chance.

I thought he played a great Superman. The fact he got that down was the most important aspect about him to me.

I've only seen him in Zac and Miri and Chuck and I enjoyed him in both

He's the only one I've seen with the potential to believably play Reporter Clark and Superman as two distinct people. That's the HARDEST part of the role.

Reporter Clark is essentially like Brandon's real personality.

The confident, badass Superman we hope to see in "Man of Steel" is close to his Shaw character on Chuck. Serious, stoic.

Plus visually, he has a look that can be made down to look like an unassuming reporter in glasses, and made up to look like a strong superhero.

He also seems to know exactly what the fans want from the role and a Superman film this time around. I'd feel safe we'd get a great representation of the character with him playing the big blue.

i was on the Routh bandwagon even through SR, but in hindsight i thought he could've done better. granted, he didn't have much to work with...but a REAL actor can shine even without a good script just by showing their charisma. he was an 'okay' Superman and did what he had to do...nothing more, nothing less. he didn't do anything that any other actor in his situation couldn't have done, except look like Routh. i don't want to sound like i'm hating on him, cuz i'm not. he has a GREAT look, he's very photogenic! unfortunately, i just don't think he's very talented...and that's where my interest in Routh stops.

however, he has a chance to prove me wrong...since i'll be seeing Scott Pilgrim the weekend it comes out.

Scott will prove if he can do deadpan humor. Reviews are good thus far.

Though I don't think his role in Scott will have much relevance to playing Superman, he said he's just playing everything the opposite of Superman... when playing a villain here.

I thought he played an effective villain in the Chuck finale.

But I think his best skills lie in playing a 'nice guy' type like Superman. It's really the only role he was born to play. It's his niche, and it's really him just playing his true personality.

He's an All American farmboy from Iowa with an obvious moral compass. He's also a generally likable dude in Hollywood. Rare these days.

Okay,It's official,I want Routh and Winestead.

MEW is AMAZING. I want to marry her.

Thanks MP! Man Routh looks huge there! He truly looks like Superman sitting there. I think it would be an absolute shame if he wasn't given at least a screen test for the Nolans

Agreed. And a lot of people thought so too:

I also think his Clark is the best so far (more believable).

Haha.

Sorry Welling.

Yeah, she does have the look, the voice and all that. And she looks great next to him.
