No way is Scott Pilgrim winning the weekend. Won't even be close, bud. The Expendables and Eat Pray Love are going to blow it outta the water

Hah.

Although I was raised on 80's era films & action films specifically I hope Scott Pilgrim blows this piece of crap movie out of the water. I'm all up for a good action movie but throwing a whole bunch of has been's into one movie just so geeks can have their cake & eat it to just turns me off. I need more of a reason to see something other than old people trying to relive their youth. Scott Pilgrim is atleast fairly original in how it's presented & it will be a fun ride for everyone, whether you like action, romance, games etc etc. It deserves to win the BO more, so it will be the movie I'll be paying for & supporting. Expendable is destined to fail thx to overblown expectations. Scott pilgrim will win the day fair 'n' square.

And I'm willing to bet any one of those old people could beat all of the Hypes butts with one hand tied behind thier back.

Yeah co's that's extremely relevant to the topic at hand (sarcasm) :hehe::doh:

The only "has been" I see in that photo is Dolph Lundgren. Now Stone Cold has no business being in this movie, as he is completely irrelevant to this lineup. Why he is in this, is beyond me. As far as I'm concerned every single one of these action movie actors are still marketable, except for Stone Cold. In one of the TV Spots for this movie, you see Arnold, and I think that alone will help put butts in the seats. This movie looks like one HELLUVA fun ride and I can't wait. I will be seeing both movies this weekend. Sorry for getting off topic.

When you post that the movie is full of "has beens" and "old people trying to relive thier youth"...then my stating that they are all in better shape than 99% of the young never was's on here is relevant.

Unfortunately your wishful thinking will not help "Pilgrim". This one is going to tank, and "Expendables" is going to crush it. The general public doesn't care about container hearts and racoon tails with a little dude from Superbad mixed in.

I wouldn't be so sure. I think it won't have a great first w-end but maybe the kids will enjoy its style and generate a good word of mouth.

in what way is Dolph a hasbeen? That he doesn't appear in many crappy mainstream movies that you deem "quality"?

Just because an actor is not in many mainstream movies does not make them a "hasbeen".
For starters, he is a great actor, as evidenced in many of his movies, just go watch the original Universal Soldier to see some solid acting.

Its not Dolph's fault that he is not asked to be in more mainstream movies, but then again, I doubt he gives a flying matt damon's ass anyway.

Dolph is an accomplished director, who has directed more than 4 movies now, and is a talented martial artist expert.

I hope both movies do well, both Scott Pilgrim and Expendables.

But to label Expendables as some sort of hasbeen project is frankly ridiculous and shows that today's audiences need to toughen up and watch some real action instead of the namby pamby Jason Bourne style shaky cam crap we've been served the past decade.

Thank goodness for Sly. He worked his ass off after not being able to get his projects funded. Apparently, he was labelled a "hasbeen" too, even though he is not and has never been and never will be.

He managed to get the funding to make Rocky Balboa, then Rambo and now this.

As Russell Peters says, "Be A Man".:awesome:

People who calls Dolph a has been should be condemned to watch this 50 times a day:

I'll also point out that Dolph along with acting and directing, he's also taken a more active role in the Kyokushin karate community. A friend from my dojo attended a month long workshop in Sweden this summer where Dolph taught for a whole week. Not because you are not aware of his work, doesn't mean he's not out there doing important work. Personally, I wish I was at the workshop, but had to work.

Here's a pic of Dolf with WKO (World Kyokushin Organization) President Kenji Midori from another workshop last month. http://www.wko.or.jp/uploads/img4c3d8a06b621b.jpg

My money's on the Expendables, by alot. That sucka's gonna ( or should ) draw all kinds of different fans in. Wrestling fans, MMA fans, fans of 80's and 90's films, etc etc.

I'm sorry, but I think The Expendables looks dreadful...that is to say, it looks no different than all the generic action movies of the 80s and 90s, most of which were dreadful, in my opinion.

*runs away*

I personally think that it's going to be a close race this weekend. The Expendables and Scott Pilgrim both look amazing. I see SP winning out though, just because I think that it will appeal to the younger masses, because of the video game vibe, but I don't know. Going to be a HUGE weekend nonetheless.

SP looks beyond lame, as will its box office take. Maybe now Michael Cera can go away for good until he plays Jimmy Olsen.

SP looks stupid, and I hate the main kid... his voice grates on my ears. The only positive thing I could say is that the effects remind me of a Viewtiful Joe movie.

The Expendables looks awesome. Should be nothing but two hours of explosions, gunshots, and facial bones snapping.

Expendables is for a niche market imo. Guys who liked the mindless one liner shoot em up 80/90's action movies. There is nothing wrong with that as everyone has their taste. I think there are more of those type of fans than niche SCOTT PILGRIM fans.Expendables ftw in this battle.

In your opinion, of course. I think that it looks awesome. If you can't accept that people have differing opinions of movies than you do, then you need to get over yourself. I'm sorry, but that is a HUGE pet-peeve of mine. When someone has a different opinion about something and if it's not what you like then that person is wrong.

Lundgren probably gets such a hard time from the geeks because of bad He-Man and Punisher memories.

Everyone remembers the Russian from Rocky 4.
Exactly! That's about the only thing that he is remembered for. That and maybe the Universal Soldier series. But IMO, that wasn't as memorable as the Russian in Rocky 4.

WOW! This thread has steered WAY off course.
