The Amazing Spider-Man Marc Webb to return?

There were more of those elements originally. You can tell by just looking at the trailers. But I bet Sony edited them out because of the length of the movie. It was already one of the longest Spider-Man movies (behind only SM3.). Plus, Marc Webb is a director who focuses more on character development and interaction, so it probably was mainly "talking scenes" they cut out, so the movie could get to the action faster.

At the end of the day, it's his name on the movie. Raimi could have made a better SM3 no doubt. Webb could have made a better movie as well. Though I do think Sony screwed over both (I warned of this long ago. A newb like Webb was hired as a yes man to be walked over. But no, some people knew Raimi alone ruined SM3). Webb should have fought harder or who knows...he may have allowed those piss poor edits.

This isn't even confirmed yet.

Nope but it's the Internet lol. Studio head says they want him back but may not be able to get him and all of a sudden he's done. Confirmation will come soon enough. The next movie is going to start production 1st quarter of next year so the director needs to be locked down sooner rather than later

I couldn't be the only one who caught that section at the end of the movie where Uncle Ben says on the voicemail:"You have a lot of unresolved things in your life" then the camera pans on the picture of his killer and a picture of Peter's parents as he says that line. And this wasn't a "D" effort. It received a majority of positive reviews. More positive than Prometheus. Its score on Metacritic is even higher than X-Men: FC's.
It got higher scored reviews from critics like Roger Ebert and EW than TDKR. A huge chunk of the people that gave the movie a negative review complain mostly on the fact that the movie is a reboot so soon. This movie's rating would have been a lot higher if more critics weren't bothered by that.

I don't know if they'll go light and fluffy. Changing tones like that so quickly is silly. You've already set the world up in one way and that wasn't something it seems critics had an issue with, at least not overall. I think they want a guy with a better grip on action really, but that's my guess

Considering a certain other director got a bit panned by some for his action scenes (the fights to be precise), he went on to direct the biggest CB film of all time and is now on his way to deliver another epic wonder.

Just sayin :)

It's not confirmed and I wont panic till it is.

he said unresolved right as the camera panned over the bulletin board that had the pcitures of uncle ben, his parents, and the sketch of the killer. said this multiple multiple times

Joss Whedon?

I know your talking about Christopher Nolan, but I'm pretty sure that The Avengers is actually the biggest comic book film ever in every way that isn't subjective.

Sony FUNDED the movie AND distributed it. Webb is coming off an indie movie. He doesn't know how big corporate movies work. I doubt he would allow those edits. There was a scene that had Peter and Gwen going on their first date that was cut and Webb really wanted it in there. But it "messed with the pace of the movie". Which I'm sure actually means "Sony wanted the movie to get straight to the action as quickly as possible." There were pictures of scenes that were in the movie. It even says in the game that Dr. Rathaus died, but the scene where he was killed wasn't in the movie, even though the picture of him in the sewers was released. The scene where Connor says "If you want the truth about your PARENTS", which means that plot did in fact carry onto the second half of the movie, but it was cut as well.

You know, I forgot that it made more money than TDK. My bad.

But you know what I mean lol.

Nolan didn't do the best job with his fights in BB. But really did a number in TDK. I thought the action in TASM was fine. But I'd like to think that Webb would learn and do better for TASM2.

Hey, I'm with you. This is the guys second flick, not just second big movie but second altogether. I love the movie, stick by my rating but it has its flaws and a lot of those, at least to me, can be attributed to his inexperience in that sandbox. Give him another shot and see what happens but again, that's easy for me or you to say since it's not our millions we're investing so I get the business side of it. This whole argument about the stuff cut out being a travesty that it was cut, that's silly because none of us have seen what was cut so who's to say the studio didn't make the right move? Not saying they did but there's no proof to say either way. I say you let the guy do his thing, let him play around with it since the origin is over and see what happens. I just hate when sequels go "bigger" at the sake of character and don't want that to happen

I don't think Whedon wants to for real. He came out at comic con and said that he loves the characters but he can't see himself doing too many projects that aren't his original projects. A lot of guys just prefer to work on their own original ideas
I can understand his thoughts

I think that was his father recording, in USM comics Peter played recordings of his father talking, some were for him, some were for Ben, some were about their project

But then look at how much the film has made? If we compare it to BB, that made 375million on a 150million budget. TASM is a 230million film with a 530million BO at present, which could get to 700million at the end of its run.

btw, it is easy for us to say when it's not our money being spent lol. But I think Sony would be foolish to remove him.

And not bad for your second ever film really :)

84% (on Rotten Tomanto) of the general audience liked this movie

Preaching to the choir man, preaching to the choir lol. I think he did a great job and I enjoyed it and it stayed with me.

Nope, that was definitely Martin Sheen's VERY distinctive voice.
Plus Peter was listening to it on his cell phone, how would he have a recording of his father on there?

with the A- cinemascore so again, the people responded to it, those who did see it. Can't be mad at that.

That's a really good score on Cinemascore. I feel this movie is going to blow up on Blu ray/DVD with the people who skipped it because it was a reboot or they were waiting for TDKR.

I dunno, it's possible Webb really does owe Fox a movie that has to be filmed during the same timeframe for TASM2, but can't he at least be a producer or something?

I dunno, I just don't like this news.

Then again, the MCU is doing pretty fine and it has different directors.. I dunno, I just want TASM2 to not all of a sudden change the tone of the movie drastically, and short cut the importance of the characters.

For me the bottom line is, I enjoyed the character moments far more than the action and that's what I want to see more of, not a generic paint by action flick. Sony we're brave to reboot the franchise despite SM3 making the most money, they were even braver to go with an inexperienced director and now they are getting 'twitchy' because ASM didn't make a fortune at the box office.

This thread has become a pissing match. I just wanted to tell people that Webb might not return, now it's a fight between the Raimites and the Webbheads? Da ****?!

*sigh* I'd like for Webb to come back. I think that the mistakes made in TASM could be rectified with the sequel and I quite liked the direction.

I figure it's true as it's been floating around the 'net for a bit here. Generally when something like this starts showing up in multiple places, it's true. The "We'd love to have him back but <reasons>," always seems to be the kiss of death. If he's actually gone I hope he writes a response ala Dan Harmon where he tells the truth about what happened.

For those who don't know, Dan Harmon was the show runner (and creator) of Community. Sony kicked him off and released a press statement about how he was still going to be involved and blah blah. Dan Harmon responded here:

Imagine if Nolan did direct the next Spidey movie...

Might be interesting.... Too interesting. I can't even imagine what he'd do to Spidey as he is a much lighter character than Batman.

At any rate, my vote is for Webb to come back, mostly because he did a great job, in my opinion... And his last name is freaking Webb!

A movie he directed had a Webslinger. Web. Webb. Get it? Sorry.

P.S. I think those who liked Webb's Spidey, should be called Webbheads.
