    Happy Thanksgiving, Guest!

The Amazing Spider-Man Marc Webb: what do we know about him?

You can be sure of the fact that the main reason for them rebooting the spidey franchise to begin with, is directly because of SM3! Every one KNEW that they ****ed it up. They really really did. Sam Raimi took the best and most badass story arc of the spiderman universe, and trashed it! He made it in to a 70's cheesy batman farce! It should have been the darkest and most serious, and it was anything but... I was so disappointed when leaving the theater.

They are definitely going with a somewhat darker feel for the new franchise, that's for sure. But I think that the word "grittier" is more fitting. It wont be Dark Knight dark, and it SHOULDN'T be either.

Can't wait to get a first look of some footage - any footage! I have faith that spiderman was never truely brought to the big screen - until now (or more like 2012). We'll see though.

And the $$ budget was getting out of hand.

Yup, sure was. When you have a limited budget, you're forced to think creatively and put your mind to where that money is best spend. With "3", Raimi was swimming in cash and he wanted to fill that movie to the brim - and that he did. It was beautifully made CG-wice, but completely without any balance, like there actually was in "1" and "2". "3" was messy, poorly written, badly executed, and despite being the longest, it was rushed and yet STILL dragging. Sad, but true...

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'd like to think that at least parts of why Sony are rebooting this franchise, is so they can do the symbiote story line justice.

Wrong.

Wrong Again

Then why is ghost rider getting a sequel?:huh:

I'm new to this thread so maybe I've missed it, but, care to provide some, you know, reasoning on any of this?

1. The reboot is happening not because of SM3, but because of sony wanting to butt in on SM4.

2. Venom? The best spider-man story arc ever? Oh please. Master Planner >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Venom

3. I'm willing to bet it's "bcuz he didn't make teh quipz"

He speaks more along the lines of absolute opinion with no justification, get used to that in the Spider-Man forums. I know it's annoying.

Marc Webb was hired for the Spiderman reboot, because he directed 500 Days of Summer. The execs were impressed with the movie and assume Webb has a certain knack portraying young couples on film. Thus, may translate well with the new Spiderman movie.

Since women are usually pigeonholed into doing romantic comedies. I was just wandering. What if a woman had actually directed 500 Days of Summer? If so would Sony hire a female director for a big comic book movie?

Marc Webb is still an extremely new filmmaker, that's for sure. But with a critically acclaimed hit like (500) Days of Summer, he's proven himself. Webb had two EXTREMELY talented actors in that (Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Dechancel) and they did wonders being directed by him.

Now, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are two extremely talented actors. So yeah, he should literally have no problem.

Gavin had proven himself as well...just sayin'. Lets wait to see the movie before we saw it will be great or suck. I have seen or heard no production problems so far so I have no reason to doubt this film as of yet but I am also not going to get my hopes up for a massive let down.

Gavin Hood, the director of Tsotsi and the critically acclaimed Wolverine.

Wolverine is the best movie of all time. Anyone who says otherwise is clearly a Bland User.
