This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]357741[/split]
if miranda does end up being talia then I hope she wears something more sexy than that
I think she'll be rocking some sexy corporate suits while she's Tate. She has to seduce Bruce Wayne after all. But it looks like that LoS-ish coat will be her Talia garb for the movie.
It was more of a joke. But I do think she'll do everything to gain his trust. It will make her betrayal and reveal more powerful. It's not unlikely to have 2 love interests specially if one turns out to be a villain in the end. Bond movies are fond of that. And Nolan loves him some Bond.
i was always partial to this outfit
True, and I think Ra's al Ghul was inspired by Bond villains, correct? Which is why Christopher Nolan used him in Batman Begins. Still, Catwoman is also a villainess, so we would have 2 villainesses and 2 love-interests, and it seems like a retread of the twist from Batman Begins with Henri Ducard being Ra's al Ghul all along.
Selina might end up being straight up ally but I really hope that's not the case though. What makes Catwoman interesting is that she's a wild card - Batman just never know when to trust her. So I can see a scenario where Miranda pretends to be an ally and Catwoman is more a villain in the beginning and then it reverses by the end of the movie.
So far, with the scenes we're seeing it looks like Talia will be a straight up villain specially if she [BLACKOUT]stabs[/BLACKOUT] Batman. So I'm not expecting any redemption stuff for her. At least we have for now.
What would be the point in Talia seducing Bruce before as opposed to killing him outright? As Ra's al Ghul said, "Someone stands in the way of true justice...you simply walk up behind them, and stab them in the heart."
To make us like her and care about her, and then, toward the end, reveal her as Ra's Al Ghul's daughter.
But why would Talia seduce Bruce, then kill him, instead of just kill him?

There could be several reasons for this.
1.) She has to use Wayne to get access to info (technology related?) that the LOS would end up using to destroy Gotham. She can't kill Bruce if she needs him to get on the inside.
2.) Talia secretly admires Batman, and maybe is falling for Bruce. Why would she want to kill him?
I'm sure the comic geeks could come up with about another 100 scenarios that would explain Talia not killing Bruce/Batman outright.
Because full circle.
Ok. It still is a bad idea. I just don't think Talia has a place in this story that already has Bane and Catwoman. There just doesn't seem to be enough time for that to happen.
I'm talking about strictly in the context of the film.

As Bane's love interest(pretty much proven) and as the co leader of the LoS(pretty much proven).
Probably have to ask Nolan then.
But there's really only a few ways she convincingly fits into the story.
As Bane's love interest(pretty much proven) and as the co leader of the LoS(pretty much proven).
Motivations? Only two that I can think of. Wanting revenge for her father and/or continuing on his work.
[BLACKOUT]And with the inclusion of a supposed earthquake machine, yet ANOTHER doomsday device used against Gotham[/BLACKOUT], well...it's looking pretty likely she'll be "hidden in plain sight" and at some point, probably toward the end of the 2nd act/beginning of the 3rd, she'll reveal herself to be Talia.
So...yeah.
Very, very likely but I don't think we have concrete evidence of this at least in this film. She might find herself above him specially if he's not his father's "greatest student" like Bruce was. They might just be co-leaders or one is the right-hand of the other.
Please put the rumors in spoiler/blackout tags. I don't want The Dark Knight Rises spoiled for me, I am posting here because, let's face it, no one posts in the non-spoiler forum.
Anyway:
Why would Christopher Nolan go back to a doomsday weapon climax? It seems to just be repeating the climax of Batman Begins.
Yeah that's a possibility.
A really, really crappy, upsetting possibility.
No, I'm not going to put things in spoiler tags. This is the spoiler forum. I'm sorry nobody posts in the non spoiler board, but talking about spoilers out in the open isn't against the rules.
But yeah, it's heavily rumored that it's an earthquake machine, and judging by the damage it did at the football field, specifically the TYPE of damage, it probably is.
And I have no idea why Nolan's going back to the "Plot twist Al Ghul uses doomsday weapon against Gotham City" well. It's dry.
It seems like Nolan is trying too hard to go "full circle" and it's making the film retread Batman Begins too much, which I was already concerned about back when rumors of Talia being in the film began circulating. It makes me feel uneasy about The Dark Knight Rises breaking the dreaded "trilogy curse".
*shrugs* I'm not too terribly happy about it either.
But there are only so many ways for Talia to be in this movie and it make sense FOR her to be in this movie.
There'd be no point in her being Talia if there was no reference to her father or her father's actions or her father's death.
And so far, on the surface, it seems we're getting just that.
There's still a part of me that hopes she isn't. But as of right now, she might as well be.
Agreed. I'm worried that Talia would steal Bane's thunder and turn it into a full BB retread, with the find and replace function of Microsoft Word being used to replace "Ra's al Ghul" with "Talia". I'm getting this feeling that I got way back when I was awaiting Spider-Man 3, and look how that turned out.
