Marvel Comics informs Newsarama that due to "popular demand and an increased importance in the overall tapestry of the post-Civil War Marvel Universe", the upcoming Avengers: The Initiative limited series has been changed to an ongoing series, adding a third Marvel Universe proper ongoing Avengers title to their line-up.

“With the reader and retailer reaction to the climax of Civil War, and the general interest in precisely what comes next for Tony Stark’s Fifty State Initiative, it only made sense to us to promote Avengers The Initiative to a full ongoing series, rather than just a limited," said Executive Editor Tom Brevoort in an announcement. "The number of story possibilities set in place by the new status quo of the Marvel Universe are almost endless, and we’re sure that fans will want to experience them all along with writer Dan Slott and artist Stefano Caselli.”

Avengers: The Initiative premieres next month on April 4th.

That makes it 3 Avengers titles.

Another Dan Slott ongoing? Sweet. Hopefully it sells as well as Marvel seems to think it will.

Those covers look nice. Spider-Man vs. Hydro-Man, Boomerang, and Shocker? Cool. Also nice to see Shocker survived PWJ #4, as suspected. Some of these new characters look more interesting than the generic NEW WARRIORS bunch and hopefully Justice will be done, um, justice. Couldn't resist.

Good news.

....Darthphere beat me to it. I have to get my thread merged.

This is awesome and I loves me some Dany Slott...Sweet.

Though I have to laugh at Fatty Joey Q here...He said that these would all start as minis and the sales would determine which ones would become ongoings...here he's already changing his tune and making this one Ongoing a month before it even premiers.

I'm glad he did, but he still isn't doing what he said.

^^^^I know Joe Q is changing his tune and all, but this series seems kinda needed. There are so many loose ends after Civil War. At newsarama, Tom Brevroot said he did not want to release a set list of deceased characters from the final battle because he doesnt want the writers to be tied down. I mean, this sounds(unless they randomly picked the number 6) and seems like that decision would already be made.

Ugh. That art is horrible. Yet another Avenges title I won't be getting:csad: .

Good to see Slott with another Ongoing. Can't wait.

Joe Q's word isn't good for much over time, and then he wonders exactly why he gets crap online. What he says at one time varies from month to month.

Late last year he said, "No events for 2007", now WWH and THE INITATIVE are both combining for about 75 issues of stuff with checklists and whatnot; an event. In late 2005 he said, "The amount of ads in last quarter comics were intolerable and it won't happen again," then in 2006, the story is, "well, they always get heavy here, suck it, because I cashed the checks". He changes his tune quicker than a remix CD.

Least this is for something good. More Dan Slott I say.

Again, he said No huge company wide crossover, WWH is not that, and the Initiative is an event akin to DC's OYL.

Hooooray for Dan Slott.....

And who is the Lizard Chick

And WWH Seems to be pretty big....there are mny different minis hitting different corners of the universe.

And who is on his team? Two Atlanteas, Two Avengers, an X-man and the new Scropion.....Trust me, when they announced World War Hulk: X-men it became a major event.
