Marvel: New Spidey Game & Ultimate Alliance (Sequel announced.)

I like your ideas for the most part. More, and more varied, hubs are a must... We should get to visit more than one in each act, and choose which ones we visit in order to unlock certain characters. Avengers Mansion, the Sanctum Sanctorum, the Baxter Building, X-Mansion, Wakanda, Providence, the Helicarrier/Triskelion, etc should all be accessible.

There should also be as many stages in each act as there are in all others. In MUA, for instance, Act I had four stages while Act II only had two... The game should be longer overall. As for the voices, I'm not really bothered by them being movie voices or not, nor by the character design being based on the movies or the Ultimate Universe; all I care about is quantity and quality of characters, and MUA2 should have a roster of at least 40 characters between old, platform exclusives and new ones.

Hmm..well Venom would HAVE to be playable though, the ideas I said are for the new Spider-Man game. :X

The ability to carry non-fly characters would be nice.

Ravensoft were the ones who said that it would break the game (or at least a representative from Ravensoft). They said that only 360 / PS3 can do it (Wii, PS2, etc, not possible). I'm pretty sure PC can do it too since PCs are becoming more powerful than 360 / PS3.

Oh I dont mind Venom being playable in a Spidey game. I loved using him in Ult-Spiderman. As for graphcs, I hope they take inspiration from USM and give it a comic book feel. I loved the art style in that game

USM's style is beautiful, yea. :D But they'd have to use the new artist's style, (I believe he's Scott Immonen or Stuart Immonen...one of those two names). Even so, I love his style too.

Hrmm..Shadowcat in Wii/PS2 may be kinda neat.
 
As for main villains, Venom is in no way suitable... He's certainly not a Marvel-wide threat on the level of, say, Doom or Galactus. In fact, I would love it if the Ultimate Alliance games turned out to be a trilogy with Doom, Galactus and Thanos as main villains in that order but MUA2 will probably focus more on cosmic-themed stories, combining Galactus and Thanos into the same storyline with Galactus eventually becoming the heroes' ally and providing his worldship as a hub. That would rock just as hard.

I fully expect the Negative Zone and Annihilus to make an appearance as well.

Hrm...Doom was done in M:UA already. They could even make the new Spidey game in the same universe as M:UA. Venom wouldn't really be a good villain, but he's just an idea. But I can't really think of any HUGE Spidey villain except maybe Green Goblin or Dormammu or something.

Yea, but if XML2 is any indication, Raven will use Galactus this time and things would be all planned out mostly.

I couldn't really see many villans going against Thanos though..
 
Doom and Galactus would be enough in my book! Heck, Doom is almost guaranteed to be an ally in the second game... And if it's cosmic-themed as I expect it to be, then the worldship as a hub with the Fantastic Four and the Surfer lounging around would rock.

I'm playing USM right now and, using a wireless PS2 controller, things seem to control a lot better. I'm kind of wanting a USM 2... D:
 
Did anyone play as Dr. Doom in MUA on 360? Did the storyline change if you picked a villain as opposed to a hero?

The villain for MUA2 should be Galactus. I mean the ending is just practically setting it up. Maybe Galactus decides to go solo, and though this is happening, Thanos is arriving to fight Galactus for earth maybe? Heroes and villains tied in the middle to fight back. Making alliances with some of the villains, shady, etcetera. Certain paths determine whether villains will be trusted. Plus, maybe playing both sides.
 
I'm looking forward to see what M:UA2 will look like. I hope they really use the power of the next-gen consoles to their full potential. The game should look at least as good as the sadly canceled next-gen Marvel Fighting game. And the environment should be fully destructible as well.

Have you read the Infinity War miniseries, for one?

He teams up with the heroes plenty of times. The worldship as hub for the final act, before the big fight against Thanos in his space-floating shrine to Death, would absolutely pwn.
 
I'm really hoping for Cable, Namor, Quicksilver, Captain Marvel, Vision, Wonder Man, Archangel and Beast in the sequel :up:

I want decent capes for characters like Magneto, Dr. Strange etc. Also it's about time Storm was given a cape!

No! I like no capes on Storm, except maybe the white 90's costume needs one. That's it.
 
Yeah I was annoyed that costume didn't have a cape, she should have a cape on at least one of her costumes imo anyway.
 
really need to work on the animation for this game. It really wasnt good in MUA. Many times they just felt generic or robotic and not as fluid or animated as they should have been

That was my beef with the XML games. Why does Juggernaut grab people by the head in XML but when you play as him in XML2 he just shoves like everyone else? They really need to individualize the character animations in this game. Have it like a tradtioanl fighting game where everyone has their own moves. And back with XML I made huge lists like everyone here has been doing, but I don't think they should increase the character numbers anymore. Just add skins for the heroes that don't get in. Ex: Hulk would have a Colossus skin, as well as a Thing skin, etc, etc.
My list would be:

Elementals- Iceman, Human Torch/Sunfire, Storm

Tanks- Thor, Sentry/Wonder Man, Colossus/Hulk/Thing/Sasquatch, Iron Man/War Machine

Energy- Cyclops, Gambit, Scarlet Witch

Scrappers- Spider-Man, Beast/Tigra, Wolverine/X23/Blade, Luke Cage, Captain America, Spider-Woman

Mental- Cable, Phoenix, Psylocke, Justice

Other- Vision, Nightcrawler, Polaris, Quicksilver, Rogue, Goliath/Giant Man(I wonder how they'd use him? Would he just always be big? That would make sense, but then he'd take up way too much space and block the action), SS(I really don't know how to classify him, he could be a tank or a energy character), Invisible Woman, Mr. Fantastic, Dr. Strange, Northstar

I'm really tired, so the list sucks, just fill in everyone I missed that s_m_2 posted. And I hope the flying is improved, so that they can have some truly monstrous environments. It would be hard with co-op, since you can't have someone flying up high when the other is controlling a ground pounder. It would be cool to have splitscreen for two players, but three or four and you'd have to limit the flyers. Online would be the **** though, you could have Thor, Storm, The Human Torch and SS just torturing everyone on the ground.



And with the new Spidey game, they NEED to follow the 616 continuity. The Ultimate universe is sweet, but there's so much more to work with in 616. I want it to be freeroaming, but go back to the SM2 webslinging, cuz USM dumbed it down too much. And they need to come up with a great fighting mechanic, cuz USM did it best and that was just mediocre. Pete isn't helping much with his style that emulates a kungfu master on crack. I bet there's a way, but no one has found it yet. I just know conventional combos don't make sense, since Spider-Man is all about sticking and moving, so that his enemies have to guess where he'll be because he can move so fast. SM1 for the PS is my favorite Spider-Man game, because the story was simple yet great, the cast was unbelievably, the gameplay was fun, and the amount of content, whether it was a whole new mode in what if?, the cheats, or the extra costumes, was just insane. If they can take that, add the SM2 webslinging, and create a compelling combat system that stays true to Spidey, then I'll die happy. I like whoevers idea it was to base the story of Spidey's early years of comics. I think they should focus on the first three decades, so they can pick and choose from Dock Ock, GG, Venom, Carnage, Scorpion, Rhino, Sandman, The Beetle, Hammerhead, Hobgoblin, The Lizard, Juggernaut, The Spiderslayers, and have some awesome cameos from the X-men, FF, DD, The Punisher, and of course Black Cat.
 
Seriously, if the character has 'strength' and can lift big things in the game, they should be able to just rip people's shields out of their hands without effort.

Yeah that was bulls***...

They should bring back the Might power that you added points to from XML2.
 
There are certain characters people keep listing that are, quite frankly, NEVER going to happen:

Hank Pym/Wasp; I just don't see how they could make the size changing work in this kind of multi-player enviroment.

Cable; A character that seldom appears outside X-titles, whose powers are mostly overshadowed by his stupid, giant, future guns. Until someone finds a costume for this guy that doesn't suck, and makes him something other than an angsty '90s goon with powers he can barely use, not gonna happen.

Psylocke; I like Psylocke, but just like Cable, she's a relativly obscure X-character, and her powers in XML weren't great.

Bishop; See Cable.

Shang-Chi; Redundant Iron Fist. If he makes it at all, it will be as one of Danny's costumes.

Punisher/Nick fury; One or the other, both becomes redundant.

Shadowcat; Intangability was used resonabley well for Martian Manhunter in Justice League Heroes, but they'll want to prioritize that power for Vision, so Kitty would probably only be playable in X-men games.
