Marvel Publishing Update

It's interesting that Marvel's sales are so much higher, usually it is fairly equitable. I think Civil War taught Marvel that events sell, you are kinda forced to buy them you know? Either that or sit on the comics sidelines and suck your thumb for 3 more months until WWH ends. DCs events are more issue cross-overs, which, for the reader is a little bit easier because they can still read just their books, but the format isn't conducive to collecting the actual event cause then you've got to buy books you'd other-wise never buy. So I think it really is more of a marketing issue. I am slightly more Marvel than DC, in terms of books I buy and characters I like, I know more of what's going on in Marvel.

But honestly, I'm infinitely more excited about what DC is doing for the rest of the year than what Marvel is doing. I honestly feel like Marvel is slowly crashing. DC on the other hand, I think is firing on most all of its cylinders, and the cylinders that aren't firing are getting primed to do so.

Hard to take this thread seriously since the thread starter is heavily biased and a huge Marvel zombie.

Perhaps, but his preference has no bearing whatsoever on the statistics, and according to those statistics, Marvel is, quite frankly, embarassing DC.

Have been for years. He's still a Zombie bastard though.

Well that goes without saying you brain sucking shot gun target. :p

All you have to do is look at what has gone on at Marvel the past several months that has caught the comic world's attention: Spidey unmasks, Cap dead, Civil War, WWH, Thor resurrected. What does DC have going on? diddly#@$!

The Question is also a lesbian. And a former girlfriend to Batwoman.

The DCAU might possibly be one of the greatest comic adaptations ever, and its an adaptation of entire universe at that.

To that end, Marvel should consider having Warner Brothers Animation adapt Captain America, Spider-Man, The X-Men or some other character. Actually, I should say 'should have', because since Timm & Dini are no longer doing anything at WBA, it ain't gonna happen.

But if it could have happened...imagine the possibilites, huh? :cwink:

Of course, only two of those are actually good ideas, but hey! They're making money right?

(this is not a pro-DC post)

Opinions are subjective.

(This is a pro logical argument post)

Yes I know the numbers don't lie,but I just can't stand zombies.

From reports I've seen since I've been reading monthlies,it's pretty clear that Marvel has been dominating for quite some time now.Last month however was probably the worst for DC it's ever been.

I just hope DC gets its act together around the time or after Final Crisis hits.

Final Crisis is part of the problem, so how is that going to fix anything?

Money wise I agree, but I'm just not seeing the problem with the continuity stuff, or the multiverse, both of which I love a great deal.

As far as Marvel goes, at least the X books are starting to right themselves. They've had two books be consistent for years now, the rest have been bleh.

I just cringe when I see comic book stuff appear in national headlines these days. Last time that happened was Death of Superman, and we all know how well that went for the industry. It feels very 90's in both houses these days. Where are the holographic covers, dammit!!!

They're coming when the Maximum Clonage 2 arc starts in Captain America right after the Reign of the Captains wraps up later this year.

yes they are,on the shelves,in the theater and on the racks.

This only matters if you prefer one company over the other. I read comics, I don't care who publishes them. I've been overly critical of Marvel in the past, and they seem to be getting their **** together lately. I'm critical of DC right now because they were kicking Marvel's ass quality wise as little as a year and a half ago. Now, they don't seem to have any direction whatsoever and it's time for them to get their act together.

Well I prefer one over the other. So it matters to me, sucks to be DC LOL

really? not even Checkmate?

I'd have loved Checkmate if they introduced them (current incarnation) long before Identity and Infinite Crisis. But it's too late for me.

I can say one thing is for certain. Starting today Harry Potter will be making more making in a day than Marvel or DC have in quarter year of sales.
