No offense...but only on the marvel forum would you find an idiotic thread like this...

But then again, if i had stock in marvel as well, i'd end up posting Cheerleader posts too...

I guess if it were just this forum, and say.... a forum with no posts in it as the basis, he WOULD be right. But unfortunately, the world has sooooo many more, with sooooo many idiotic threads. :(

Word. And the Hype's certainly doing it's part to keep those idiotic thread numbers high.

Well, it DOES have to shoulder some of the responsibility of a few other sites.

I'd have loved Checkmate if they introduced them (current incarnation) long before Identity and Infinite Crisis. But it's too late for me.

I can say one thing is for certain. Starting today Harry Potter will be making more making in a day than Marvel or DC have in quarter year of sales.
have you even tried out Checkmate?

except my comment states that only the marvel forum would have an idiotic thread....Like this, with ridculous "Wooo!!! One company is owning the other!" threads

Never said the marvel forum was the only place with idiotic threads period. Comprehension is your friend

You've never seen a thread declaring one thing to be superior over another on the Hype? Look around, dude. It's become the basis of the boards.

Dude, we've had plenty of DC is better than marvel threads in the DC Board over the years.

Wait, so who's on your ignore list, Darth or Batman?

O.K. This week I bought my last issue of Birds of Prey. There's nothing else from DC that I want. So sayonnara to DC!

I think it'll be worth holding onto Birds of Prey. I'm very excited to see what Sean McKeever will bring to the book.

And what about Checkmate, the Flash, Green Lantern, Justice Society of America, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern Corps, Manhunter? Those books are awesome at the moment.

Plus Teen Titans and Wonder Woman will be cool again with McKeever and Simone entering those books.

What can I say, with McDuffie on Justice League of America, McKeever on Teen Titans, and Simone on Wonder Woman, I am very excited about them.

Justice League if done right could be quite cool. I'm just not sure how'd they do it. I don't think they can take it too seriously and I can't imagine at this point Bale's Batman being NOT serious. Whatever the case it's a must see. Wonder Woman just makes me laugh. Where's Green Lantern damnit?

Then you'd be a Zombie AND you'd be losing money. Marvel's stock price has been hovering around 26-29 for it seems like forever. Hit movies, and record comic sales don't seem to really effect it.

And marvel's had a LOT of success the last few years. Which tells me something I've always suspected. The business model of comics is more like professional sports than it is soft drink companies. In other words, Coke and Pepsi compete directly in the market place for the other's dollars. every dollar that Coke gains is Pepsi's loss. Sports leagues (with the exception of baseball) realize that as a league, they are competing with movies, concerts, other sports leagues, etc. The more popular the league is, the more people will want to come to games, even if just to see the opposing team. Comic companies should realize that they are in a situation that the phrase "A rising tide lifts all boats" definately applies. So DC doing poorly is NOT good news for Marvel fans. And that's just the money aspect of it. Marvel has been doing a lot of good stuff, and part of that motivation comes from the fact that DC is nipping at theur heels. Take that pressure away, and it'll be status quo type stories, cranking 'em out for the $$$.

Actually Marvel's profits come more from their licensing deals than comics.

A Justice League movie can only be done right if they make movies for Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash, and Aquaman first.

As a whole though, DC's movies have been better than Marvel's. Even if they're comming out at an annoyingly frustrating snails pace. Remember quality over quantity. DC's more recent movies (Batman Begins, Superman Returns, Constantine, V for Vendetta, and A History of Violence, I like to forget about CINO's existance) are better that Marvel's recent movies (Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, X-Men, X-2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand, Daredevil, Elektra, Fantastic Four, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Blade, Blade II, Blade: Trinity, Ghost Rider, the Punisher, and Hulk).

And DC's comic sales will catch up to Marvel's again once they figure out to release comics on time again, fix all of their OYL mistakes (which they are doing), and release Final Crisis.

I wouldn't say that they use underhanded tricks, but they are certainly better at advertising them.

I doubt anyone would dissagree with that,it makes perfece sence.I wonder why DC has not changed how it advertises..

People like this,is what keeps Marvel in the lead.

It's interesting that Marvel's sales are so much higher, usually it is fairly equitable. I think Civil War taught Marvel that events sell, you are kinda forced to buy them you know? Either that or sit on the comics sidelines and suck your thumb for 3 more months until WWH ends. DCs events are more issue cross-overs, which, for the reader is a little bit easier because they can still read just their books, but the format isn't conducive to collecting the actual event cause then you've got to buy books you'd other-wise never buy. So I think it really is more of a marketing issue. I am slightly more Marvel than DC, in terms of books I buy and characters I like, I know more of what's going on in Marvel.

But honestly, I'm infinitely more excited about what DC is doing for the rest of the year than what Marvel is doing. I honestly feel like Marvel is slowly crashing. DC on the other hand, I think is firing on most all of its cylinders, and the cylinders that aren't firing are getting primed to do so.

I would think this post is right.Marvel forces you to buy mostly,or all of the comics to even understand the full story. While DC gives you the choice of only going after the main story, none of the side stories.

If Marvel is slowly going to crash, then its a real slow process. Its been going on since House Of M.But i think Marvel cant survive on events alone,it has to end sooner or later.
