While we're on the subject of actors who should have been considered but weren't (or were rejected before we heard about it), how about

Colin Ford

Good suggestion. I've seen too little of Ford to judge him fairly, but I think he could have deserved a spot in a previous shortlist, or so.
I can say the same about Jake T Austin. Seen way too little of him, but he could perhaps have surprised us with a good PP. Who knows???

or Josh Wiggins (got the "next Leonardo DiCaprio" tag at last year's Sundance)

all 3 of those look lightyears ahead of the ones in the running right now.. how did we end up with such a terrible shortlist?

I am really wondering HOW THE **** did Judah Lewis and Matt Lintz get this far?They don't look like any incarnation of Peter Parker.They are ridiculously young.They'd have to deal with labor laws for the next 4 years.They must be Gods of acting lol

Marvel auditioned 1,500 young actors. So they saw a lot of actors. Maybe they sent in a reel (which almost certainly their agent would have) and Marvel weren't interested.

Marvel auditioned 1,500 young actors. So they saw a lot of actors. Maybe they sent in a reel (which almost certainly their agent would have) and Marvel weren't interested.

They didn't audition all of them. Only between 50 and 100, I guess. The rest were sorted out beforehand.

Just imagine how much talent that they missed out on

Matthew Lintz probably had a rich dad with some connections, it's the only way it's possible to get him that far... It was just for exposure so he can one day star in a Disney straight to DVD movie as an extra!

He's likely one of the young guys who never tried out. Marvel/Sony might have sorted him out beforehand.

I suspect they did the same with Zachary Gordon, Jake T Austin, Aramis Knight, Nathan Gamble and a lot of others.

I've already explained it a dozen times already! the current final candidates are the BEST fits for the role. Sony/Marvel auditioned 1,500 kids for the role and these were the best fits for the role, hence the FINAL shortlist. Case closed.

Yep, same here. I like Ford more than the two young ones and probably more so than Asa. But, like you said I haven't seen him recently so I cannot say 100%.
