Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - Part 2

No. They really wouldn't every time they've brought up Jean they constantly bring up the term ''return" not ''resurrect" or ''resurrection." Jean Grey does not break the ''no dead characters" rule.

Jean was resurrected a year after she was killed off. She came back from the dead in Phoenix Endsong. She's in limbo

yeah i know there are many ways to describe it, but ask anybody at marvel and theyll tell you shes dead. thats what Phoenix does- she dies and is resurrected.
and thats what happened in Endsong where she was literally ripped fromthe grave and brought back to life. She's been active behind the scenes. She took the Phoenix fragments away from Rachel and Korvus in Kingbreaker and the Cuckoos in UXM. We actually saw her help free Emma from Lady Mastermind in Sisterhood. We know she's out there completing her mission and they've established that

Cable's still lame, and I don't care what new things people have done to him, he's still an X-Man from the future (among a lot of other things) and that alone prevents me from even wanting to know about him. In fact, I'll only accept two more X characters in this game, and those are Cyclops and (if they actually do this I'll be ecstatic) Beast, otherwise there's too many mutants in the game as it is.

Also, you guys make me sad. I thought that the only things everyone can hate are the Nazis, Halle Berry as Catwoman and Cable.

So you can't get past the concept of time travel for a character in a series of science fiction fantasy comic books, involving aliens, parallel dimensions, super beings, alot of which aren't bound in science or psuedo realistic explanations and an island full of dinosaurs?

Seriously, that's some of the most narrow minded thinking ever. I'd understand you wanting something more bound in reality in films perhaps, but superhero comics that have been just as far fetched fantasy for the last 40+ years?

I could understand and respect your point if you said you personally weren't interested in that kind of thing, but that fact that you aren't even willing to 'want to know anything about him' because of time travel... Sheesh. You are missing out on some great ideas and character development. Have you ever watched Dr Who? He is one of the most interesting and deep protagonists in sci-fi and it has nothing to do with time travel, it's the character who's interesting. God, that attitude just horrifies me. To think of all the great characters and stories I would have missed out on if I thought that way.

No, not just "time travel". I like time travel. What I don't like is the X-Men and all their alternate realities and timelines and insular crap.

But that doesn't affect Cable as a character, thats how the storylines are written, overly complicated. Cable today doesn't dwell too heavily on the annoying ins and outs of complicated time travel stuff, they merely use Cables knowledge of the future as a great weight on his shoulders, that informs his whole sense of being. Making him make hard decisions for what he believes is the right cause but hates himself in the process. He's a really interesting character at his core, and the potential application for his powers and personality in the future are vast. I've been waiting for ages for that total moment where either Cable goes way too far, or realises his meddling is the cause of his future, or where he is redeemed. I've also been hoping that either he or Phoenix, as two of the most powerful mutants, would be used to unwedge the X-Men and mutantkind from the really annoying 'insular' hole they are stuck in.

I don't have a problem with Cable. But I also haven't read an enjoyable X-Men story in a while, and haven't kept up with the latest changes to their insufferably inconsistent future.

you make me sad. Cable is my second favorite X-man of all time

Cable still represents everything I don't like about the X-Men and comics in general.

I agree about the X-Men, the last few stories have really not been playing to the X-Men's strengths at all. Thats why I think they need a serious shake-up.

X-men was always a series about leading towards the future, the mutants were the NEXT step in human evolution, they were working towards people EVENTUALLY accepting them and none of those threads have come to fruition.

*sigh* How can a character you've admitted to not knowing anything about other than the superficial represent anything to you with any real meaning?

I know enough to know that he's what I don't like about the X-Men.

I dont read comics, so all of my character hate is based of aesthetics. If they look dumb, they are dumb. Cable isnt dumb tho, i loved him in MvC2.

Dante has deff found a permeant spot on my team. Dude is more than sick.

Ferret's just misguided and stubborn.

You're just dumb. Ever heard of NEVER judge a book by it's cover? Yeah.

A character can look dumb and not be dumb. Thats a silly way of looking at it too. If a character has a great back story and a really interesting motivation, but just has a stupid costume, all they need is a minor overhaul. To write off a character completely for something like that is narrow minded, which is what i'm saying.

I never cared for how Luke Cage looked originally but I still liked what the character represented and his stories. And then, when he had a different look, I still enjoyed him, just less things about him annoyed me. In fact he was one of my favourite characters during Civil War (his argument with Wolverine was one of my favourite scenes)

Yeah, futurism and the X-Men used to go together like PB & J. Now, they're weighed down by a status quo that calls for the same old concepts. Funny how that works.

Nope. All i need to know is in the appearance. There isnt a dumb looking character thats worth a damn. Its why ill never use a character like Arthur in this game. I wont even do his missions.

I dont care enough to want to take the time to read any of their back story. Im not a big fan of comics. Its far easier to just write them off based on a lame costume.

May I ask why you're even on a site for superheroes though? A majority of them have dumb silly costumes.

How is Cable any different from the loads of other popular anti-heroes? Because he's not funny and commercially friendly like Deadpool, he doesn't rate as a hero?

The ones i care about dont.

I didnt say i dont like superhero's, im just not a big fan of reading comics.

I love Cable, hes got a cool looking metal arm.

That's his loss. It's been my experience that most of the "cool" looking characters are nothing more than that. Like Boba Fett, or Venom.

Or Cable.
