Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - Part 4

For the most part the roster additions suck IMO. The only ones that I'm excited about are Ghost Rider, Dr. Strange, Phoenix Wright and Nemesis. It looks like Capcom pretty much ignored all the polling that was going on about which characters should be added, because they don't even have freaking Mega Man X. I'm going to pass unless I find UMVC3 used for cheap in a few years-- either that, or hold out for Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Arcade Edition.

I wouldn't say they ignored it.4 of the top ten on Capcom's side(Vergil,Frank West,Phoenix Wright and Strider) were added.2 of the top ten of Marvel's side were added(Ghost Rider and Dr.Strange.)Marvel has a certain amount of control over who gets in so there's that. Same here. I'll be much happier saving $40 than I will be knowing that I can play as some goofy Raccoon guy I've never heard of or Virgil (who in a way is already available as Dante's alternate costume). Maybe if Capcom gets it right for the inevitable third edition of MVC3 I will buy it, but I see no reason to squander my money for such a frivolous update.

That's not Vergil. It's Sparda. Dante and Vergil's father.

Also, Marvel owns a fair part of the blame too. They could have made up for what was lacking on Capcom's side of things in their own selections, but like Capcom they seem to be completely ignoring the input from the fans and choosing whatever characters they want to promote the most. Ghost Rider is pretty much the only one that anyone was asking for, all the other top picks are being ignored.

If Capcom knew Marvel was going to be ignoring fan input when making their selections, they could have at least tried to compensate by putting as much fanservice on their side as they could, but they didn't, and to me that's just plain stupid. It ain't my problem though, because I know better than to waste my money on something I don't even have use for.

Of the six extra Capcom characters, four of them were in the top ten most requested. How's that ignoring fan input?

As for the Marvel side again, if Capcom asks for them then, but Marvel says no, then there's really nothing they can do about it. Quite frankly, I didn't find the Marvel side all that good. It had BOTH Venom and Carnage in the top five. The inclusion of Ghost Rider (and Strange to a lesser extent) was definitely giving in to fan demand. It sucks that Gambit and Psylocke didn't get in, but I'm not complaining about it. We've seen them before. I think it's great that characters like Hawkeye, Iron Fist and Ghost Rider are finally getting some love. Hell Nova was a character I wanted, but didn't think had a chance.

I'm glad they're also catering to people who actually read their comics and not just people who watched the cartoons and movies.

There will definitely be DLC for this game, the game's roster is now at 50. 6 away from MvC2, you don't think Capcom wants to get up to the number of MvC2?

Also, I'm betting DD is DLC. He would complete Team Lawyer & he's on the new Shadowland stage. Every major character who's been in the background has been in the game somehow. Tron, Akuma (his pic is in the Hand stage) & Firebrand for instance.

You cant assume there will be DLC for the game. Everyone assumed MvC3 would be getting DLC and look months later and we are up to Shadow Mode update #?

Like it's all nostalgia for Megaman too because he blew chunks in both MvCs anyways. I get he's the mascot of the company and I can respect that you want him in because of that but don't you dare tell me for a second you want him in because you want to play him because he was legit one of the least touched fighters in the first two.

But Megaman X legit offers nothing that Zero already doesn't. He's a very similar premise. Megaman should be in the game. But he's almost always on the worst fighters in each Vs game.

I'd say they are more than likely pissed not because they'll loose business because everyone knows they are going to god damn well buy it anyways, even if they are saying they are not at the moment, but because imagine you've worked on something and you've put time into it and you think they fans will be excited but it leaks all right away and in no time really like the game was announced and literally an hour or so later all 12 new characters were known.

It's like if you were an author and the ending of your book leaked onto the internet before it was released.

I don't bluff. I said I wouldn't buy Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 until Capcom removed the DRM from it, and I still have not played it aside from the demo. I thought Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition looked like a ripoff, and I still have not bought it. I do not think UMVC3 looks like it's worth buying, and I am not going to buy it.

Everyone has a breaking point, and Capcom found mine a while ago. They don't believe the rest of their fans have a breaking point, but I will laugh in their corporate faces the day they are proven wrong.

Funny you should make the comparison about an author's book being spoiled before release, because sometimes authors re-write their books when there is a leak. Can't say I expect Capcom to go back and add Mega Man X, Captain Commando, Psylocke, Gambit, Cyclops, Cable, and / or other characters who were left out just because they don't have anything new to reveal for the game to build up hype, but I would certainly be amused if Capcom had to actually try for once just because they screwed up their marketing strategy. Capcom doesn't even include alternate costumes in their fighters, so I can't say I wouldn't love to see them forced to actually put effort into a product before it ships

Actually despite contrary belief, MM is not the mascot of Capcom. In fact there isn't one.(this was said by Seth Killian)

And to be fair, I don't think they use MM to his full potential in the previous games. They just took three moves; a crappy Leaf Shield, a watered down Tornado Hold (REALLY watered down), and the Mega Ball which is not even a Robot Master weapon, just some "Hey lets reference Megaman soccer!" weapon.

Regardless, it stands to reason that MM's issue is his MVC self was just so poorly implemented. The guy has so many tricks, but they made up new, boring stuff, and didn't use a remote sense of his potential. Frankly, he should have at least had 8 different weapons to choose from given that's the magic number in MM games.

Taskmaster has what 1 or 2 moves based on a bow? Hawkeye's entirely based around the bow. You guys are just *****ing for the sake of *****ing now. Every character picked has a fanbase and pretty much all of them are better than Psylocke, Gambit, Cable, Venom, etc.

The only oddball seems to be Phoenix Wright but he was a massive fan want for some reason. I can't wait to see how bad he's going to suck knowing he's nothing but a damn lawyer with no superpowers.

Megaman X would not play like Zero. They have very different movesets. For one X has an arsenal of armors which gives him access to various abilities that neither Megaman nor Zero have

I don't get the Hawkeye complaint either.First off his level 3 hyper is bad ass and hilarious.Second in the gameplay videos you can see he has a variety of arrows including a freezing arrow that freezes an opponent in place and a poison arrow which slowly drains life.He seems like a great addition to me.It's just like the Dormmamu/Ghost Rider complaint.Doesn't make sense to me.

For those of you saying this should be DLC. Each character would cost 5 bucks, there's 12 new characters. Add in stages & new modes, that'd cost someone well over 70 bucks if they bought all over the DLC. A disc version was the way to go here.

I already said why the little Racoon is an excellent pick. YOu need to get off this cute animals thing. There's a reason Rocket has a fanbase as does Howard. They are more than a talking Duck or Racoon.

I already said previously in the thread. Twice already that Rocket will play almost exactly like Cable. Plasma guns, bombs, traps, etc. And he's a better character than Cable ten fold. Please read a god damn comic book.

Yea i really dont understand the exclusion of Mega Man.

Oh well, i doubt ill be grabbing this anyway. Iv played MvC3 all of one time since Mortal Kombat has come out. As much as i love Ghost Rider and Hawkeye, those arent enough to pull me away from the better fighter in MK.
