Capcom Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Just read that alot of the people at CES that played thought Thor was by far the weakest character out of the playable roster there.

I know this won't make Corp and some others happy.

Well, were these people tourney level MvC2 vets, or casual gamers who got to try out MvC3? Did they give detailed reasons? I mean, I don;t want/need Thor as high-tier, but I expected more from him, and worst of all, my friend who claimed Thor "looked bad" in videos will rub this in my face, as I argued with him that Thor played better than we'd expect...

Oh, and Corp won't care. He's stated time and again he's not into fighting games anyway, and wont be playing on a super-serious level. Guy loves Thor, he'll play him regardless.

Thor's Mighty Smash is slow, and his Mighty Spark starts up even slower. He has potential since he does good damage. Maybe he's good with assists. But right now, it's looking like he's going to get zoned hard and chipped out in a game where mobility's key.

Yes. But most of Captain Commando's moves have been cannibalized in Viper's design, so they probably stuck with her out of convenience. No need for legal when you have something close enough.

The poster I was responding to was responding to a post about Strider Hiryu, not C. Commando (C. Commando... C. Viper... holy****waitasec).

Capcom co-owns Hiryu, don't they? I don't see how they can lose rights to something they co-created.

It takes two to consent to (insert something clever here), so Capcom probably needed the other side's permission.

He was playable in Namco x Capcom and was going to be on the roster for Capcom Fighting All-Stars. I wonder what was different this time?

What was different?

We wanted him in this one too much, and Capcom looked down on us and said no...

Seriously, Capcom may not have wanted to go through the "trouble" of getting him in, if there was any "trouble" all the other times. Also, Capcom's team did give some non-sense in a Q&A about how Strider Hiryu would feel out of place in MvC3 compared to the other characters (ya know, cauase a ninja would stick out too much with the distinguished likes of green giants and blonde-haired Reploids from the year 21XX).

I want Howard the Duck in still, I want to make a team called Team Awesome Trolls with him, MODOK, and X-23/Shuma Gorath.

Strider hasnt been relevant in god knows how long. I really dont think his exclusion is that big of a deal as it isnt one of Capcom's biggest franchises. He's more of a nostalgic thing. I think Capcom has a fairly decent cast as it is and while it might have been nice to have him in for some people, I dont feel its any big loss

That's my exact mentality about Sentinel, Havok, but alas, Sentinel may get in. Its stupid.

I feel like X-Men would have different reps other than Magneto and Sentinel, if they weren't so popular on the damn competitive scene. I'm honestly okay with Magneto, because I know I'll get a bit of enjoyment out of him, but Sentinel is a little bit lame.

I wouldn't worry about it. She Hulk didn't fare well either from what I understand, but I tend to not listen to tourney tards. They suck the fun out of games anyways.

Pretty much. If you're into tournaments and maxing out your potential squad or whatever, more power to you. I personally don't give a f*** about any of that.

Doesn't bother me. He could be the worst character in the game and I'd still play him regardless.

I play for fun, even if my favorite character wouldn't be the best, I'd still use him.

Tourny people scare me.They get way too into it sometimes.I didn't even know about tiers in MVC2 until this thread started.

I went and preordered this game from Toys R Us today along with LBP2. Im just getting the standard edition. The only thing attractive about the CE for me is Jill and $10 for just one character isnt worth it for me. I will get her when she is available for all and that will most likely be less than that

Agreed. Im the same way with any of these types of games, i want to use my fav characters regardless of what they can or cant do. Same in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. You see ppl b****ing about a characters powers, i dont care if their power is similar to another, im using my fav character.

Well only thing for me is my best friend is tournament level player... when he was younger he went to EVO for MvC2 and took 15th.. and I usually play with him so yea I try and play to his level.. I mean he isn't into it hardcore like he was when he was 12 but he still has his skills.

I got lucky with Ultimate Alliance as Dr. Strange and Moon Knight were extremely powerful. win win

so am i one of the few that is looking forward to the story mode the most

also any word on what editions the uk is getting

I'm looking forward to the story mode, simply because I hope of some funny character interactions. I also hope for a few nice action cutscenes.

Jean's health is pathetic from the gameplay thats been shown. She goes down in like 5-6 hits. I hope they tweak her before release
