It's not even a question of whether this game will sell or even if people want it, in truth this game might even fit under the category of "most wanted games", right there with Duke Nukem Forever.

The Dreamcast and Xbox versions of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 still sell for $60 and $80 on ps2. So that should at least tell you something about a game that cameout 9 years ago.

No, what is more of a question is: How would you want it?

Now if we think about this logically, PS3 and Xbox360 can hold like three times as much space and process way faster, especially if we stick with 2D. We could literally have like 200 playable characters and still have room for a bunch of different modes.

But if we were to go with 3D, we'd have to have less characters, but what we'd gain in moves and abilities might be uncharted.

So ignore the delay/closure and think hypothetically about how you would want the game to be.

Who would you like to see? What would you go with: 2D or 3D? How many characters should there be....Etc..

Also I was wondering who would like to see the series move on? Like maybe Capcom vs. Smash Brothers?

Duke Nukem Forever? Most wanted?

I want it to look like TvC. I want less X-Men characters and more general Marvel characters. I want MARVEL to decide on the Marvel roster, so Capcom doesn't add random additions like Spiral and Shuma-Gorath just because of their Japanese fetishist. I want the Marvel characters to have their recent looks and not their outdated 1990s animated series designs. I want deserving characters we haven't gotten yet, like Thor, Daredevil, more Avengers in general...

That's a good idea. I'd like to opt for alternate costumes. I mean it wouldn't be hard to have 2 or 3 Wolverine costumes...

They should released MvC 2 on the XBL arcade.

No Capcom's smart, they know that people want the game, and the fact that it's one of the rare over-priced 10 year old games....They're probably going to keep it that way.

When they get like Midway, they might release it...That and Street Fighter 1

The ESRB actually rated MvC2 about 2 months ago for both download services. That means that its on its way.

theres actually 2 other threads for this: http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=308353

and Capcom makes absolutely NO money off of those rare over priced games. It would be in their best interest to re-release it, assuming of course the cost of the liscensing fees would justify it

The only reason there were so many X-men characters was bc they included every character from their Marvel liscense and the franchise started off as X-men games. X-men Children of the Atom and X-men vs Street Fighter to be exact. If they were to start over form scratch, I dont think the X-men would have as big of a presence

I've never played any of these games. If it's anything like MK vs DC I'm sold. If it has Deadpool I'll pre-order it, even it sucks.

Well, with SFIV right around the corner, I'm hoping we'll hear something about Marvel vs Capcom 3 soon.

I dont care if we get the EXACT same game as before, give me more characters and ill buy 2 copies. I WANT a MvC3.

Just give me more known characters and more levels, and make it bigger, being able to go underground and this kind of stuff. I don't mind the style of 3 vs 3 like MVC2, but we could be able to choose the MVC1 or MVC2 style before starting the story mode.

I don't get what you mean here.

Sorry, I've edited.
In Marvel vs Capcom 1, we choose a character to fight another character. 1 vs 1.
In Marvel vs Capcom 2, we choose a team of 3 characters to battle other team with the same amount. 3 vs 3.
In Marvel vs Capcom 3, we could be able to switch the style before starting the story/arcade mode - 1 vs 1, like MvC1 or 3 vs 3, like MvC2.
Know what I'm saying?

The vs series has never had 1 on 1 fighting. Its always been tag team. The only exception were the PS1 ports and that was only bc of the limitation in the hardware's ram

I want it so bad. Mostly because I don't want to spring the 80 bucks for a PS2 game. It sucks cause I had MVSC2 on my Dreamcast, but sold the whole thing. :(

If they just remade it for PS3/360 I'd be happy. ****, if they ported it to Wii, I'd be happy. It would appeal to casuals and hardcores alike.

This is so much better than DC vs Mortal Kombat.

Leave it in 2D, though.

Well, I don't know what you're talking about. True, I've only played the PS1 games so I'm not sure if the other consoles were the same.
All the vs games - Street Fighter vs X-Men, Marvel vs Capcom, Marvel Superheroes - have been 1 vs 1 fighting. Maybe we could bring someone else, but in MVC2, it was obligatory that you defeated all of the 3 opponents of the other team.

The PS1 games are NOT the true versions. The main feature of the VS series is tag team fighting involving 2 on 2 matches. MvC 2 expanded it to 3 on 3. The reason why they were so popular was bc of the tag team fighting which was unheard of at the time and Capcom pioneered it. The PS1 simply wasnt powerful enough to handle the games and the only way that Capcom could make it work on the system was to scrap the tag team feature. Not only that but the PS1 versions had several frames of animation cut out and some slowdown issues bc the system only had 2mb of ram. There was a cheat code which added a limited tag team mode but it required that both players select the same set of characters. Those were the inferior versions of the series and shoddy ports of great arcade games, but there really wasnt much else that could be done. The 360 and PS3 are powerful enough to handle near arcade perfect games, so theres no excuse or reason why Capcom would do what they did with the PS1 again. If you want the 1 on 1 MvC experience, your best bet is to go try MU.G.E.N.

I got it.
Even so, we could be able to switch between 1vs1, 2vs2 or 3vs3. I think it'd be a nice addition.

True what Havok said, but I agree with you that it would be cool to choose. In fact, if we're going with 2D, I'd go as far as to suggest alternatives to Arcade mode.

Arcade:
-Loner (1 vs. 1 battles)
-Partner (2 vs. 2 Battles)
-Team (3 vs. 3)
-Adventure (Whatever you pick vs. Random(random battles, sometimes 1 vs. 1 sometimes 3 vs. 3))

And then Versus would follow a similar thing to "Adventure" allowing you to pick either 3 or 2 or just one guy to fight against your opponent. To keep it balanced, obviously the fewer players you fight with would equate to less damage taken from attacks. For instance: If you have one character versus your friend's 3 characters, then you don't take damage when you block non-super attacks. And even super attacks would do like 40% less damage.

I think I should also speak of Co-Op in this part of my message. I'd like to be able to play with a friend against the computer. But Co-Op would be seperate from Versus, as both characters would be on screen at once. Co op can go up to 3P vs 3P or you can do 3P vs. 3CPU. CPU Battles would play out like Arcade, just with all characters on screen at once. But the number of enemies that the CPU controls would corrolate with the number of human players, so if you only have 2P, then there will only be 2CPU. You see?

I'd want for there to also be a story mode. But things would be interesting as there are so many characters, so you'd have story based on series.

Story:

X-Men: Apocalypse is causing all times of chaos and you're trying to fight your way to the source of the problem. (So if you're a hero X-men, you'd fight only villain marvel characters and vice versa) A spacial rift happens and people think a mutant has caused it, but then it turns out that it's something else. (Obviously this would be why X-men characters are in the game)

Megaman: After being left on the moon at the end of Megaman: Legends 2, Roll and Tronn call a truce and try to get Megaman back down. Everyone gets sucked into a portal on the way back. (Explaining how Tronn Bonne, Roll, and Megaman are in the game )

Avengers/Ultimate: (Hulk, Thing, Torch, Invisible Woman, Mr. Fantastic, Captain America, Spider-Man, Luke Cage, Iron Man, War Machine, Wasp, Hawkeye, Atom/Ant Man would all appear but it would be mostly based off the Ultimate versions) Galactus comes to destroy Ultimate Earth, but when Reed deploys a bomb to stop him, it warps away various people on the planet.

Street Fighter: In an Alternate reality, Bison wins at the end of Street Fighter Alpha 3. But his Psycho-Crusher bomb thing doesn't end up destroying anything, it actually warps away everyone nearby. (And anyone who has played SFA3, knows that literally EVERY character was there lol)

Deadpool: He just volunteers to jump into a warp portal, citing that "Everyone else was doing it, I just wanted to fit in!"

Darkstalkers: Dimitri is searching for information on his past, to see if he can become even MORE powerful. He uncovers a secret amulet that ends up warping away various people from his world...

So you get the idea. The story would focus on the series, until the characters are warped away and start fighting in other worlds. At the end, Apocalypse, Galactus and Bison would be Final sub bosses with a new random character (Maybe Abyss from MvC2), as THE final boss.

It's not too deep, but more than what we got for MvC2. The only other thing is that I'd like for there to be "cut scenes" between battles and character unique dialogue exchange when the battle starts.

Last thing?

Dream Battle:

You pick the characters to fight and then watch the battle unfold, this is quite standard to fighting games now, but it wasn't in MvC2 so it's worth mentioning.

It'd be bad ass to see an updated Morrigan sprite vs. someone new like Deadpool.

I hate how companies do online these days, though. I have friends right beside me who can't play my game, but I have to play with people I don't know just because they have a WHOLE separate Xbox as opposed to just a controller?

Yea i kind of agree. We should always get both. Online and offline. However, in a game like say, Call of Duty, i rather have strictly online MP than just local MP.

Man... I got all excited when I saw this thread. Thinkin' they actually announced a MVC3 or something, almost pissed my pants.
Thinking, they must have gotten a ton of pre-orders and good reviews on Street Fighter 4 and finally decided to make another MvsC.
Buuuut all we got here is more desire and speculation.

When and if they do make a new one. I want Dante and Nero and possibly other Devil May Cry characters in the game. Spider-Man vs. Dante... awesome! Plus more Resident Evil and Mega Man characters. Here's to hope!
