Marvel vs. Capcom: A Thread of Two Worlds - Part 7

BP actually looks pretty cool gameplay wise.

and I just read each DLC character will cost $7.99 if you buy them individually. makes that $30 Season Pass look more worth it......lol.

also, Monster Hunter alt

Ok, for all the crap I've been giving this game for the past year, I must admit it is pretty fun. Maybe it helps I got the Deluxe version for around $45 ( discount plus coupons ).....lol.

but I've been playing it for the past hour or so, and I've been having fun using Morrigan mainly and getting used to the mechanics.

True, the simplified controls do take some time getting used to ( is Ryu the only one with the traditional uppercut motion? ). But, as a casual fighting gamer who's long felt that fighting games have become way too technical and complicated, I actually appreciate the fact that I can button mash and pull off combos and air pop ups and the like. For me, that makes the game more fun.

And yes, I still would have liked to have other characters like Scarlet Witch or Magik or Nina from BOF2 on the roster, but I've been finding other characters to try out ( Jedah is pretty fun to use, too ). And with Monster Hunter coming out in a few weeks, I feel satisfied with the roster for now.

I do like the little dialogue touches. Like, when you select your team, they may acknowledge each other. Same with the intros - they may address their teammate or the opponent. And I like if you have Captain Marvel and Captain America on your team, they will call each other by their first names when tagging out ( Carol, Steve ).

I like those little touches.

My biggest criticism so far would be the inconsistent character models.

Some, like Morrigan ( who's sexy AF ), really stand out. I don't know if "uncanny valley" is the right word, but there's something about her character model that really pops and stands out. Especially on the win quote screen, when she's next to Captain Marvel, whose model looks less detailed or refined. It feels like Cap Marvel's model is still in the early, beta phase or something. Something about her model just feels off.

So, maybe they can fix stuff like that in an update? I just wish the character models had more consistency across the board in terms of detail and refinement.

but Morrigan......damn.........

But anyways, I'm glad I picked up the Deluxe version at the discounted price, which includes the base game and character pass. For that price, I feel it's worth it and it's pretty fun so far.

Just hope they'll add more characters I want to see in the future. Judging by the roster screen, it seems they have room for 2 or maybe 3 character packs?

Full patch notes released.

Capcom will release a new update for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite on October 16 ahead of the launch of downloadable characters Black Panther, Sigma, and Monster Hunter on October 17, the company announced.
Get the full patch notes below.
General (These changes will go live on PlayStation 4 and PC on October 16, and on Xbox One at a later date.)

  • When an opponent has been hit by three special “grab” projectiles in a single combo, they will automatically be affected by a spiral hit stun, causing them to be invincible and sent into the air. Players can also counter tag out of these attacks.
    • Affected moves:
      • Spider-Man – LP/HP Web Ball (including air versions)
      • Frank – LK/HK Hammer Throw
  • Can perform air recovery in eight directions when recovering from certain unique hits in the air.
    • Affected moves:
      • Dante – Bee Hive
      • Chun-Li – Spinning Bird Kick (including air version), Kikosho, Hoyokusen
      • Chris – Sweep Combo
      • Doctor Strange – Bolts of Balthakk
  • Fixed a bug that made it impossible to block during the last frame of crouching block recovery.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a connection error to occur when continuously performing successful grabs in an online match.
  • Increased throw invincibility during air recovery from 3F to 5F.
  • Fixed comboing into another combo using the Mind Surge throw.
Characters (These changes will go live across all platforms in the update on October 16.)

  • Dante
    • Fixed a bug when taking damage during Tempest that caused Dante’s position to change from the location where he took that damage.
  • Captain America
    • Fixed bug(s) so that properties of moves without the shield match those with the shield. (ex: forward jumping during forward ground dash without the shield did not have dash momentum)
    • Fixed a bug causing backflip (without shield) to be invincible from start up.
    • Fixed a bug that caused his back ground throw to not do damage and had a shorter knockback distance.
    • Fixed a bug where jumping forward during a back ground dash (with shield) had dash momentum.
    • Fixed a bug that caused him to not face the opponent when behind them while activating Charging Star and Hyper Charging Star.
  • Dormammu
    • Fixed a bug that allowed players to cancel Dark Spell: Creation after LK/HK Dark Hole with Flight.
    • Fixed a bug that allowed players to cancel Dark Spell: Creation after LK/HK Purification with Flight.
  • Doctor Strange
    • Fixed bug where when there are 3 Graces of Hoggoth HP traps on screen and Flames of the Faltine is used from a higher position, the fired laser VFX disappears.
    • Fixed bug causing one Grace of Hoggoth to remain on screen after activating Flames of the Faltine in certain situations.
Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

shocked to see them using DmC Dante but love it

I know everybody hates DMC2. But I wonder if we'll ever see this design again. It's easily my favorite design of Dante.

Keep watching matches looking for something that makes me want to play this more than 3 at this point, still not feeling it. Just doesn’t look as satisfying or as hype, even watching the pros do their thing.

Oh, looks like Mr. "People only care about functions" isn't with Capcom anymore.

While I didn't agree with that comment, to be fair, he wasn't entirely wrong about it. There are many characters in fighting games that people will only use because they're really good or top-tier. Unless you really expect me to believe that a generic robot grunt like Sentinel is actually someone's favorite character or that everyone suddenly became an Aquaman fan when Injustice came out.

He just made a mistake using Magneto as an example because most people want him because he's the main X-men villain. Now if he said Sentinel instead, then I actually would have agreed with him.

That ignores the casual community, though.

Half the appeal of these types of games are the character rosters. A lot of people that buy these types of games, casual consumers, just care about playing as their favorite characters and overlook functions and such.

Arent there more casual players buying these games in numbers than the competitive players? Like I know the games longevity is due to the competitive side, but if the majority of the sales are dependent on casuals amd scrubs, people who want a real roster and not functions, isnt that where the sales should cater to?

Part of the issue, I think, is Capcom is chasing the pro people, who have their own little communities. In theory, a thriving pro crowd will attract more. Which is why they recently up the prize money in their tournament circuit.

I don't think it is working out too well for Capcom. I will be interested in seeing Oct's sales numbers.

Anyone wonder that if Disney do manage to purchase the Fox Marvel properties that MvC could see a X-men and FF dlc packs or an Ultimate Edition with those characters?

It's true that they are more casual players that care about playing their favorites, I'm just saying that the "function" comment does have a bit of merit to it.

Let's use Phoenix Wright as another example. He was heavily requested for UMVC3, but when he was added, not many people touched him because they didn't like his playstyle and his gimmick being luck reliant.

Juri in SF can be another example. After SSF4, almost everyone and their mother had a hard on for her. However a lot of people don't like the way her playstyle was changed in SF5 and thus you don't see her online that much.

Alleged leak claiming the next DLC pass will include Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Asura, Lady and Gill, with plans for Wolverine, Magneto, Doom and others down the line.
