I'm glad I waited so long to get around to playing my FemShep in ME3. After I beat Persona 3 I think it might be time to hop back on to ME and get that DLC.

Next Mass Effect gets a rough launch window of 2014 - 2015

The next Mass Effect game, in development at BioWare Montreal, has a tentative launch window of late 2014 to mid-2015, according to Mass Effect 3 producer Mike Gamble. Speaking to Gamer Syndrome, Gamble provided "rough idea on a release window" with the following estimate:

"Late 2014 to mid-2015. I honestly can't tell you an exact because full development on the game started a month or two ago."

In September BioWare outed a new Mass Effect game from series executive producer Casey Hudson, and in November we learned it would run on Frostbite, from BioWare Montreal rather than Edmonton, which handled the previous iterations.

"While I can't comment on why it changed studios, fans can expect a similar style of choices and action that they've come to know in Mass Effect," Gamble said. "Casey Hudson is very much involved in the new Mass Effect game, as well as many from Edmonton. BioWare Montreal is a great studio and they did fantastic with the multiplayer for Mass Effect 3, so fans should know the series is in good hands.

"The game isn't far along in development so I can't comment on specifics because they isn't any yet. Frostbite 2 is a really good game engine that we are also using on Dragon Age 3. As far as release date, there's nothing to be announced yet. You'll hear more about the new Mass Effect game in 2013."

I was actually just reading about this, there's some question as to whether or not this interview is legitimate.

In any case late 2014/mid 2015 sounds probable as a guess.

Now that I think about it, I should have put this in ice mans thread. But I'm a bit tired I have some thing going down at work , so I'll need alot of rest so I'm a bit off. so I might not be posting if at all tomorrow. Anyway we'll see if this is straightened out. but as you said it is a likely time they'll do that for the next game. Ok i'm out.

Could very well be a launch title for PS4/X-Box 720.

Well that's a long time away! :csad: I guess as expected.

I'd be utterly surprised if next gen consoles got pushed back to 2014, especially with Developers basically pleading for new machines.

man......it feels like I just got my Xbox......and now there's already talk about the next gen........

yeah......I know it was 4 years ago........but still...........:(

It (new XBox) might get pushed back if this chip production problem continues. I don't think it will be pushed back for non-supply-side reasons though.

The next Xbox is pretty much a lock for 2013. Look at the release schedule. All the heavy hitters are coming early in the year. I think Playstation is still up in the air though. It might be beneficial for them to wait a year.

I think they definitely want & plan to have it ready for Holiday season 2013. That chip problem sounds like it will push them close to the deadline though. Agreed on Playstation having some benefits of waiting an extra year, although they might sacrifice those just to prevent XBox gaining the early advantage again.

That didnt work out too well for them the last time. I think Sony will want it out as close to possible as the next Xbox. I dont see them giving MS a full year headstart again

It hasn't hurt them too bad. Sales-wise, the PS3 is neck and neck with the 360. Besides, launching side by side might help PS4 in the short term, but by holding off they would be able to study the Xbox, see what works and what doesn't, what people like about it and what they don't, which would help them more in the long term.

I think neck & neck is only good in retrospect. At the time of release the thought of ending neck and neck with XBox would not have been a good result. Sony have lost a lot of market share this generation. They were the dominant games platform and are now, some would say, unnecessarily sharing that position. The other thing is catching up sales wise at the end of the gen is financially not as good as bursting out of the gate even if you end on the same numbers. All corporate economic projects are assessed on when the returns come in just as much as how much they are altogether. It affects many other factors such as the rates you pay on what you borrow & where capital is tied up/freed up for other areas for eg.

Yeah.

Oh, I understand. This generation can and should be viewed as an abject failure for Sony if you consider just how incredibly dominant they were in the previous two generations. However, I think they ended up doing a lot better than a lot of people would have guessed during the Playstation 3's blunderous first two or three years.

Yeah, for a while there they were looking like finishing an easy last place. It's been a good recovery, especially with very strong exclusives as Microsoft have left that side slip. Mass Effect losing XBox console exclusivity is a great example of how things have changed in fact.

Exclusivity increasingly is a thing of the past. PS3 still holding onto a few almost feels abnormal at this point.

in the grand scheme of things no but that is only bc of Japan and EU. The PS3 consistently is outsold by the 360 in NA and that's something that's never changed. Had MS not gotten that year head start, I doubt that would be the case. Sony would be closing out this gen in a much better place had they launched simultaneously. It's for that reason I don't see then waiting another year after MS to come out

Yeah, I hope so. Exclusives only hurt gamers.

Not really. Its primarily 1st party stuff so it shouldnt be too surprising that they are holding onto quite a bit. Sony has alot of studios and IPs under their belt, a luxury, MS doesnt have. Unless Sony gets out of the hardware business, those have 0% chance of ever not being exclusive. Its no different than the same situation with Nintendo

They came up with the weirdest excuse for your crew to be sidelined in the Omega DLC: Aria doesn't like them. She never had a problem with Archangel on Omega in ME2, and look how much trouble he caused for the mercenaries.

It was clearly an issue of paying the voice actors to return. Carrie-Anne Moss is probably costly as is.
